Great place for a hot summer day, they have endless combinations and some great toppings for these desserts. They do not offer a kids snowcone so be aware to ask for an extra cup if you're taking a young child.

Delicious shaved ice. My favorite is just the creamy coconut one, and my husband loves the mango. Great on a day when you need to cool off.

Nothing compares to Mama Rosa's. My favorite is coco con leche condensada. Very conveniently located near Potomac Mills Mall.

It was difficult for me to give a fair rating for the food. Even though the last time I had Filipino food was 5 years ago, I have been spoiled in the past with the finest Filipino food in the world cooked by some of the finest & most humble chefs I ever met. The food at Kababayan was so so or good for my first experience in tasting their food despite being rated as the best Filipino food in the area in some reviews. Everything was well seasoned, and I was only disappointed in one entree. I was hoping to try the traditional roasted succulent lechon or Laing. Laing, is a Filipino dish of shredded or whole taro leaves with meat or seafood cooked in thick coconut milk spiced with labuyo chili, lemongrass, garlic, shallots, ginger, and shrimp paste. They both were unavailable. The food is displayed like a buffet style arrangement. You select the entrees and side when you order a combination of entrees & side dish. It would have helped to have a sign describing each entree with its name. The lady helping me in selecting entrees was very kind and went into detail of each entree. I ordered two entrees with rice and two entrees with pancit noodles. The price for two entrees with rice or noodles was $15. A fair and good price for the amount of food provided. The traditional pancit noodles & dinuguan tasted the best and were the most generous portions served to me, and were the closest to my past food experiences with these traditional Filipino foods. I would have loved some calamansi, the citrus Philippine lemon, to season my pancit. That is how I prefer my pancit. They instead provided me lemon wedges to season my pancit as an option for the calamansi though. The pancit was good and like the pancit I would eat at Filipino parties & gatherings. The dinuguan was delicious & is always an acquired taste. I like to eat it once in a blue moon. It was the first food I ate completely. The pork adobo and sweet & sour pork entrees tasted good yet I was unfamiliar with them. They didn't taste like the traditional roasted lechon pig I was accustomed to in the past. I stashed them away in glass containers in the fridge to eat later along with the pancit & chicken adobo. The most disappointing was the chicken adobo. The taste of chicken adobo was good but it was annoying to pick out the broken & chopped bone pieces out of the chicken adobo to prevent accidentally swallowing them. This restaurant is worth checking out. The entrees are always changing there. I will probably come back here again to try different foods I haven't tried.

We have so-called shave ice here in Boston but it's not like Ono Wai's. These are served with ice cream at the bottom - YUM- and a drizzle of sweet cream on top! It's like 2 desserts in one because by the time you get to the bottom, the flavored ice made the ice cream frosty and sweet - like a creamsicle- but better! The hardest part of ordering this little cup of heaven is choosing the flavors - they have 25 - and apparently they are imported from Hawaii. Thankfully, my family ordered different flavors so I was able to try a variety. They were all rich and flavorful. I'll be back Ono Wai - I'll be back!

Unlike a snow cone, the fluffy ice absorbs the shavings versus surrounding it at the bottom of the cup. This makes for a much more flavorful experience. The ice is then flavored with one of 25 syrups we offer. Some patrons opt to have ice cream placed in the bottom of their shave ice flower cup and top the flavored shavings with a sweet cream. Fortunately, there is a Wells Fargo two minutes down the road so I didn't have to give up on my dreams of a cold fresh snow cone. Seems like they are back for their spring season!!! I can't wait to go back and I will bring the family :) Very affordable $4 a snow cone with up to 3 flavors to mix. I opted for the coconut, tamarindo, and pineapple. I also got the condensed milk on top (which I heard was a MUST and it absolutely was worth every drop) and I also added the sour tamarindo jalea on top. I wouldn't recommend them both together but separately they are both scrumptious. The tamarindo is sour! So be prepared if you like tart or sour this is for you!! My boyfriend opted for the strawberry, coconut, and passion fruit. It's true that they make their own flavors I witnessed it! There are pieces of legit fruit in them!! So delicious and unlike a classic snow cone. Each is prepared diligently with a tried and true process to get the right shape and packing of the snow particles properly. Service was very friendly and helpful and Quick! One size only and it was gone pretty quick so delicious!!! Worth it and allll the hype. We will return this weekend :)
