Such a cute place and a great stop on the way from DC to the Delaware beaches! I really liked that almost all of the cupcake flavors were available in full size or as minis- it was nice to be able to try a bunch of different flavors as minis. There were also other yummy-looking treats like chocolate covered caramel pretzels and chocolate covered Oreos, and cute bakery-themed merch like bracelets and sprinkle headbands. I prefer flavors with a vanilla base like Funfetti and Snickerdoodle. Blue Crab Cupcakes has the best vanilla cupcakes that I have ever had. Never in my life would I have thought a vanilla cupcake could be so sophisticated and absolutely delicious. Blue Crab Cupcakes offers regular flavors, seasonal flavors and even some gluten free cupcakes. I've also tried other desserts from Blue Crab Cupcakes like cookies and macarons and go figure they were also decadent and carefully prepared. The staff is always friendly and parking is plentiful. Located close to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, Blue Crab Cupcakes is a perfectly fitting name but as someone who is Maryland bread and crab fed, I do wish their logo more authentically resembled Maryland's beloved callinectes sapidus. read more

Spent $60 on them and they were stale with some of them being so stale they were actually tough to bite into and very gummy to chew. Maybe they are good when you order them as a catering, but I walked in and tried one of each of the different flavors and they were cold and dry as if they had been sitting in the fridge overnight. Lady on the phone said no problem, there's usually someone here at 9am anyways. Cut to a day before and I call to make sure I could pick up my order 1/2 hr before opening and to make sure all was good to go with my order. Was told yes, no issues see you tomorrow. I get there at 10:25am and see another customer with her van parked out front, inside the store. I park and walk in to get in line. The employee very loudly and rudely says to the customer already there, " we have people walk in all the time even though we are not open until 11 am." I pay her no mind as I am fully aware that I was told I could pick up early and surely she would not be talking about me in such a rude condescending manner. I walk to the fridge and see a mini cake that goes perfectly with my childs bday theme and grab it. As the other customer exits this employee very rudely says to me " Can I help you with something?" I said " yes I am picking up an order for and give my name. She looks me up and down and says " well you know we're not even open until 11am." At this point I'm pissed off because why on earth would she assume I'm just walking in IF IM PICKING UP AN ORDER!!! Who orders a cake/cupcakes and comes for them before knowing they will be ready?? I informed her that I specifically asked to come early and she again condescendly says " well I was just making sure because we have people walk in all the time." I let her know that I had called the day before to make sure and she has the nerve to ask who I spoke to!! I told her it was a female I didnt get her name. Now I'm wondering if this is the same interaction she had with the customer that was there before me because she was not speaking to her in that tone. Really felt discriminated with a touch of racism from her. She leaves and comes back and now mysteriously can not find my order in her little book or in the back. Thankfully another sweet employee had made her way to the front and informed her to look in the custom order fridge. What do you know, there is was!!! Don't know why it would've been in there either since I was told I could not do a custom order. Honestly this experience is enough to make me not want to return. Their baked goods are good but I have to go out of my way to get to the store. The owner should really hire more customer friendly people as most of the time people are picking up goods to celebrate a nice event. Just found this place. It is tucked away in the corner of a strip mall in Annapolis and would not have ever known it was there if it wasn't listed in my HappyCow app. The business is very inviting and clean. They have nice photos and display case refrigerators for all of their offerings. I am so happy that they offer 4+ different types of vegan cupcakes. They apparently launch new flavors each month. Today they had Chocolate Fudge, Banana Coconut, Vanilla and Neapolitan. The stay was very inviting and pleasant. The follow COVID safety measures.
