Most of the work was located on the back side of the house on extremely tall trees, which required extensive crane work. An old arborist once commented after taking down some big trees close to my house: "Sometimes you pay for time, but today you payed for skill". Which was true, and also my experience with 4 days of Kilmurry's crew cutting at two different houses. We had many large (75-100') oaks, hickories, poplars, sweetgums, and pines very close to our house and driveway. Many had branches as long as 65' overhanging the house, pool, and patio. Same for my father in law's house. After getting several quotes from other companies, Kevin Kilmurry inspected and quoted both jobs. Given the large number of trees the day rate was the best option, and gives you the flexibility to prioritize as needed. Also, the ground crews can be working on other things, grinding old stumps, etc. while the tree crew is working. It's not cheap, but smaller companies were either higher, or no-bid as they could not compete with Kilmurry since a crane was needed to safely handle the big trees. The crews are professional, polite, and hard working. They will show up early, and be working by 7:30. They work till 3:30, then start cleanup. And are gone at 4:30. It's clear they are a solid team, with radio comms and separate tree, ground, and stump activities all taking place in parallel. We were very impressed with the team's skill, and the crane and skid steer ballet was impressive to watch. (The operators had 14+ years of experience with Kilmurry) Kilmurry has the best equipment, starting with the largest crane I've seen in tree service locally. It has a 127' boom, and can sit in one spot and reach over a house or similar. This was critical given the nature of the properties. They also use a tracked skid steer with a grapple, which works closely with the crane to safely lower and position large trees to be cut up. They literally took down a 100' pine with two cuts. They can take out 6-7 very large trees in a morning, move the big trunks offsite to be cut/sold, and the smaller chipped into 1 of 2 chip trucks. It is a first class operation. While most trees it makes sense to use the crane, they felled a huge pine (4' trunk, 100+ foot) on my property and put it exactly where they planned. Then rapidly processed it. The ground crews are working constantly when not bucking trees. They blow the driveway off, stage small branches for pickup with the grapple, etc. Same for the stump grinder, who works behind the tree crews once they leave an area. Everyone is working as a team. For small jobs Kilmurry won't be the cheapest. But they will be fast, professional, and safe. For big jobs they will be more cost effective than most and they can efficiently handle very large trees close to houses. My father in law's house had 4 large trees (75-85') literally growing next to the house on a steep slope. One was a 4' oak which was putting the foundation at risk, and had branches extending far over a neighbor's house. With the crane they were handled in a morning plus some smaller trees. Other companies were quoting 2 days for those trees alone. Some complain about Kevin, the owner. He's not a chatter, is very busy, and is always needing to get on to the next quote. He is not impolite, just can be a bit abrupt at times. But he is a pro, knows the business, and runs a very good team. You are paying for expertise and equipment, not hiring a friend. I mention this as you will see reviews complaining about his personality. To be very clear, he has always been congenial and professional with us. And his crews are super nice. There is a reason they stay so backed up (we waited 35 days for our job), they are that in demand by both individuals, commercial property managers, and city governments. I have never written a bad review for a company, but I had such a terrible experience with Kilmurry's Tree Service, I feel obligated to warn folks about them. I have been in business for 58 years now and have never had a vendor treat my employees and myself in such a rude and obnoxious manner. I had several jobs for Kilmurry to do. The owner looked at them all and gave me prices. He was a different sort of folk than I am used to, and I sensed he might be difficult, but never as bad as he turned out to be. I signed his pushy contract for one job however and the problems started right away. He went to another of the jobs I had for him and treated my employees there on the job in a fashion they had never encountered before. "Who the heck is this guy?!" When the owner began incessantly texting me, calling me and leaving obnoxious voicemails while I was in my cancer doctor's office, I finally text him back and told him to just do the one job we had agreed upon. That clearly angered him, but I can't handle someone that expects his customers be at his beck and call, insisting they satisfy all his demands, or else. It got much worse. The job was a 3-day job, and he began dunning me for payment before he even started, texting, calling me, calling my office, and generally being rude, demanding, and obnoxious. The second day of the job, his wife called my office and was rude and obnoxious, demanding payment on the next day. The owner and his wife then did the same thing on the final day of the job. I had had enough when the wife called Wednesday morning and was abusing my office manager, so I spoke with her. I was not happy. But it got even worse. The owner saw my client on the job that day and was rude and obnoxious to him, slandering me, insulting me, and lying about me to my client. He even demanded payment from my client and demanded that my client give him his phone number. I have known that client for 60 years and he was not going to put up with that kind of crap from a subcontractor of mine. He politely told the owner that there would be no problem getting his money from me and it was really none of his business. The client called me and told me about the annoying encounter. I paid Kilmurry that day, per his contract. But this saga still didn't end there. I received more obnoxious texts, once again with demands, threats and insults. The totals were 22 texts, 12 phone calls and 4 voicemails, all for a simple, little job. I finally ended this ordeal by telling them that if they do not know how to treat their customers kindly, I feel sorry for them. I don't know how they stay in business, but if you want to be abused, insulted, demeaned, bossed around, incessantly pestered, and threatened, I highly recommend Kilmurry's Tree Service. read more

Broke both my drive ways, insurance would not fix. Owner states that he breaks almost every drive way. When he comes out to give the quote he over promises and on the day of under delivers. No matter how clear you are about what tree you want gone he will stay confused and conveniently run out of time. Happened to me and two other people that used him after comparing stories. When I began looking for a tree service a couple of months ago to do some work in my yard, I came to Facebook and asked my friends for recommendations. I'm a firm believer that word of mouth is the absolute best (or worst) advertisement money and/or reputation can buy. The overwhelming response to my request was Kilmurry's. Kevin Kilmurry happened to be in my area the day I called and he stopped by that afternoon and surveyed what needed to be done. Because there was so much work to be done I agreed to their day rate which was the best deal for my money based on everything I needed to have done. Multiple large trees to be taken down, others to be trimmed and yard debris (from prior yard cleanups) to be hauled away. On Tuesday morning of this week, they showed up like an army. With them came every conceivable piece of equipment a crew might need for any kind of tree work. As they worked, they were periodically cleaning up behind themselves, blowing the driveway, raking up smaller debris and laying plywood to protect the grass from the heavy equipment. When we encountered one small hiccup mid morning, I picked up my phone and called Kevin, he was already on it. When they left, you couldn't tell anyone had even been working in our yard (aside from the fact that so much more sunlight was hitting my yard and the giant stack of wood I've been griping about for 2 years was gone). Everything was cleaned up, my porch, the driveway and the street in front of the house was blown and left exactly as they found it. Polite, professional and determined to leave with happy customers. Seriously, I never hired them and never would after what they did to my property... while they were servicing a neighbors yard they took it upon themselves to disrupt my day and delay my routine by blocking and using my driveway to store branches that were cut from the neighbors yard and they even placed large tree branches on the post of my mailbox causing damage to the flowers and brick border I have around them. Never have I ever seen a company be so messy, rude and disrespectful of someone else's property while servicing another. I DID NOT HIRE YOU... why you in my yard??? No respect... read more

They may be great at cutting down trees, but they have no business being anywhere in Cobb County making massive noise before 9 AM which is what's happening right now in my neighborhood and I'm furious. I had Kilmurry's come out and take down 5 trees..They promise you limited damage to bushes and yard. When the crew of about 6 showed up only 1 guy worked. The rest stood around and were on their cell phones. After 3 hrs the only guy climbing trees left. I asked where is he"oh he has another job" . I asked to speak to the owner and the crew said"You might not want to do that". The owner was unprofessional and borderline threaten me. The trees they dropped fell on my shrubs and bushes which all died later. The weight of the trees put sink holes in my yard. Damage beyond words..Never ever use this tree company..Absolutely terrible !! read more

Excellent tree removal experience with Kilmurry. They were on time, efficient and great to work with. We had constant access to the owner the day of the job. You could tell the crew was passionate about what they were doing, very professional, well trained and focused. Several years ago I needed a pine tree removed in my backyard and called Kilmurry's for an estimate. When the owner arrived at my home he walked right in without saying a word, and headed for the glass doors that led to the backyard. I followed him out, and before I got a chance to tell him what needed to be done, he told me what they were going to do. From the deck he drew an imaginary line from one end of the property to the next and said that all the trees in front of the line would need to be removed, seven in all. Then they would trim a few limbs on one side of the property. The cost would be five-thousand dollars for half a day. I looked at him like he was nuts. Six out of seven of the trees in the backyard were young sweet gums that didn't need to be cut down, and the so called limbs at the side of the house were the size of a twig, and could easily be removed with a lopper. I had no intention of hiring this company, but I told him I would get back to him if I changed my mind. He did an about face, and walked back in the house and out the front door without saying a word. Throughout the years I've had many repairmen, and contractors give me an estimate , but none of them have ever stormed through my house, or were as rude as he was! A few days later his wife left a voicemail asking me if I was interested in having their company do the job. I never called her back, but if I had, I would have asked her how she would feel if she was an elderly widow and a strange man barged through through her front door without addressing himself, and then started calling the shots? I hope all women who live alone will steer clear of this company, and anyone else who has no tolerance for an arrogant, know-it-all with an attitude problem. I got another estimate from another company and they came and removed one tree, not seven. They were polite, and knew exactly who I was talking about when I told them what had happened with the last tree service. Don't waste your time or money on this company when there are other companies that do a great job for half the expense, and would never think of scaring your wife or your mother half to death when she opens the front door. read more

I have been using Kilmurry's Tree Service for over 15 years. I have a very large wooded lot with several trellises and a picket fence. I had a very large tree that fell on my house and he was there with a crane within four hours and expertly removed the tree without further damage to my home. I have had multiple dead trees removed and some thinning of trees. I have come to rely on his expertise to remove necessary trees without damaging my property. I have referred him to others who were pleased with the job - most recently to remove seven trees from a newly purchased home. I have asked for aNd received free mulch. Excellent service. Workers were very friendly and took care of the trees. Only reason for not giving a 5 star was the owner did not do all that was promised. The owner noticed I had been working in my backyard doing some digging. The owner said that he could take care of that for me while his crew took care of the trees. (Included in the price) It was a few weeks before they could get to me, no problem there. The crew showed up on a certain day and went about their work. A few hours later the owner showed up and I asked about the bit of digging in the backyard. He said they forgot the attachment he needed to do the digging. He said he would get back with me and come another day. Well, it's been four months and not a peep. I understand about being busy, but when you promise something and have someone's money you should follow through. I woild recommend them to anyone, just be careful about getting what you are promised. read more

Kilmurry's came to my house Tuesday to clean up storm damage from huge limbs that fell in my yard. Not only did they clean that all up for a minimum rate, they also got rid of a bunch of other brush and cleaned up some cherry trees in my front yard. I highly recommend them. read more

I needed 11 Leyland Cypress removed that I planted in entirely the wrong place some 20 years ago. My bad!! These were between houses and their crane was required. Kilmurry performed two other removals in my neighborhood (tall Pines). I saw how they prepped, the equipment used, and how they cleaned up and was very impressed. My job went off without hitch. They came, they saw, the conquered with no damage. Job very well done!! If I need further tree removals, Killmurry will definitely get the job. I want to update my opinion of Kilmurry... Because we were going on vacation, we did not inspect our yard as we should have... Upon coming back, we found two places in our driveway that the tracked log hauler cracked our drive at the edge. They also buried under the ground stump some of my plants and where the long hauler went, tore up my hostas that I do not think will come back in the front yard. Additionally they buried my 2 wild ginger plants in the front. The tree that was taken down on the left a back corner of our house had the stump ground and they buried almost a foot deep out walk way. The stone edge around the tree just off my kitchen has to be repaired also and some of the middle of our lot ft x ft concrete slabs have to be replaced also. Doesn't sound like a lot but I am 75 yrs old and now have to pay to have it all fixed. If they had just put down the plywood to run on there would be no problems but Kevin was not there that day... I am not happy with all the work that now has to be done. While our lower driveway needs replacing we now have to replace it all because of Kilmurry, an expense that will now double the cost of replacing the drive... BE WARE of how they use the equipment and inspect before they leave. They did drop a limb that bent our gutter and before they left, my husband made them fix it. read more

Just had Kilmurry's Tree Service at my house for 4 hours. They did a GREAT job. They removed a huge tree in my backyard, and trimmed all of the surrounding trees in the backyard, and in my front yard too. It looks beautiful, I can see my backyard again. They ground up the stump, picked up all the branches and I can't even tell they were in my yard except that it looks TERRIFIC. I would definitely recommend Kilmurry's Tree Service. read more
