I've been going to Kiki's since they opened so this review was a long time coming. I've taken my mom, other members of my family, and friends here. Although I do feel that it has become slightly overrated due to the influx of hipsters in Astoria (along with everything else in Astoria), it is still my go to nail salon. Kiki's is a place that is to the point. They are friendly to be professional, but not overly friendly. The girls working are generally quiet and serious. I wonder if they are asked to strictly keep it professional. They don't ask questions and harass you, or speak in Korean like they do in most places. Most of the girls are Hispanic so that might also be why? Can I also add that they give little massages in between manis and pedis? My parents like a block away so I make sure I stop by for a mani/pedi when I'm in there area. Which is usually every weekend. A mani/pedi goes for $24 which is a bit pricey if you ask me, but you're paying for cleanliness and service. I can pay $16 for a mani/pedi at a salon in my neighborhood in Fresh Meadows but it just isn't the same. If you are looking for a reliable nail salon, I would go to Kiki's. I got my wedding nails done here, regular mani/pedis and gel manis. It's well worth it! read more

I don't like to write bad reviews however I am compelled to write one after my experience yesterday. I have been going to them for several years as they're a few blocks from my apartment and the salon is very clean. However as other reviewers have mentioned, the service is very hit or miss. I am getting married and decided to do tips/UV gel manicure so my nails would last longer. The owner of the salon is the only one who was able to provide this service on the day I made the appointment. I had a clear understanding of what I wanted and provided a picture and asked her what she thought I should do. She was annoyed and kept rushing me. It was important for nails to look a certain way but clearly she didn't care. She rushed me and kept telling me to relax. How can I relax when you are rushing and not listening to what I want? The color and the shape did not turn out how I wanted and I was nearly in tears. I asked that she change the color and she charged me to do so. All together I spent $138 for nails that I hate but am stuck with because I don't have time to sit in another salon for hours and change them again. Kiki acted like I was bothering her by giving my business. I will not be going back to Kiki's nails and I advise you keep looking for another salon if you want your nails to come out right. read more

Having just moved to the neighborhood, I was in search of my new nail spot. I'm used to paying $50-$55 with tip included for a gel mani + regular pedi at my old spot in Flushing. But last week at a different place, I decided to just get a regular mani and pedi. By today, my pedi is in tact but of course my nail polish began chipping heavily. I figured I can just get a regular mani some where and then this coming weekend I can get a mani + pedi. I don't know if this is the best solution economically because when the nail polish begins chipping, I need to re-do them. Over here the regular mani is $12. Gel is $30 and pedi is $20. So I figured I'll just get a regular mani for now. I left a $3 tip which is $15 total just for a mani. That's kind of pricey if you ask me. I didn't feel like walking to a spot on 45th street which is much smaller than this spot for a $8 mani so yes I understand that is my personal choice. So I do like this spot, I got a nice woman named Christina, it was fast and efficient and very clean which I appreciate. I asked them if they had any gel mani + pedi package they said no, just individual prices. I'd come back here but it is a lot of money for what I usually get. read more

My go to nail salon. They're always able to take me as a walk in and I never have to wait. The staff are very friendly and they have a great variety of regular and gel polishes. Since COVID, they have put up guards, take temperatures before entering and ask that you wash your hands and use a mask. I felt very comfortable getting a pedicure there and am grateful for their extra efforts to keep our community safe. read more

I've been to Kikis a handful of times since I moved to Astoria. The establishment is always clean and polished, pun intended. The staff are always very friendly and I love the massages when you're getting your nails done. Today was the first visit since Covid. They have plexiglass set up at all of the stations. They sanitize you're hands and check your temperature. I usually get tips done either acrylic or powder and so I make an appointment ahead of time. Kiki did my nails today and she's a true artist. I don't ask for anything crazy but she's precise, quick, and I love that she communicates with me along the way. I trust her and her leadership. My nails came out great and already getting compliments. I also got a pedicure and Jenny was my technician. Also very sweet and professional. Needed a mani/pedi and went here on recommendation from a friend. It was NOT a good experience! First - I had my manicure and the woman (who was the only woman not wearing a name tag - or else I would have written her name here) cut my cuticle way too much and made me bleed. It just stopped hurting recently (about 30+ hours later). It kept bleeding and she just wiped away the blood and continued her work. She only apologized when I remarked on the fact that I was bleeding. This was not off to a good start. Then, the pedicurist did a fine job, but then when I sat down at the dryers, she asked me to turn it and and didn't do it herself and I ended up messing up one of my toe nails in the process. She did a "quick fix" by painting on top of the "rip" in the polish, but didn't redo the nail. Now, it's the next day and I've been staring at the 3 small chips and 1 large chip in my finger nail polish. It's really bugging me that the polish didn't even last a day. I usually do my own fingernails and they last for almost an entire week. Since I needed a pedi anyway, I figured I would let Kiki's do it, but it was obviously a big mistake as my cuticle was mangled to the point of bleeding and now I have chips in the polish and will need to do them over again tomorrow night. I can not begin to express how pleased I am with my nails. I came in at 7 pm for a full acrylic gel set, and just left the salon as the last customer at 8:40 pm even though they close at 8. Not once did I feel rushed, or as if I were a bother. Kevin did such an AMAZING job and his attention to detail was absolutely great! He made sure to have each one of my nails perfectly shaped and pulled my cuticles, which many salons tend to ignore when getting acrylic done. Today was my 3rd time here and I got my super cute holiday gel nails designed from a picture I Googled by Connie. She was careful, thorough, but most notably, a great perfectionist with my nails design, which speaks volumes on this place's quality of work. She did a wonderful job!!! I really hate to leave a review this negative but wow. This is by FAR the worst manicure I have ever had. I paid $45 for SNS Powder, asked for square nails and for the powder to be very thin. I knew immediately that it was going to go poorly because of the lack of technique when dipping my fingers, and the amount of product left after each application. I said repeatedly that I wanted them thinner and overall just to fix them but it was clear that the worker did not understand and did not have the skill to do dip powder. I would have gladly waited for anyone else to do them. There is so much I could say but I think the pictures speak for themselves. Thick and uneven application, product way over the cuticles and nail beds, lack of shape in every nail, and almost every nail was filed down to the nub to the point that it hurt. Ironic since I asked for my toenails to be extremely short and they are so long and sharp they already made a hole in my socks. I know this may not speak for every worker, but the lack of experience and lack of concern by my manicurist at my disappointment was unacceptable. Thank god the new 30th ave stop is finished because this is just a few blocks away on my walk home. Recently just stopped in for a regular pedi because I didn't have time for the mani. Was very impressed with the customer service, especially from Yolanda, the young woman who helped me. She was fabulous and super sweet. Prices are great. Only $20 for a very thorough pedi, and I believe it's $10-11 for a regular mani. Since I am a low maintenance person with nails, I like a low cost no fuss mani pedi. After reading endless reviews on yelp I decided on Kiki's. I had a free afternoon on a Thursday and walked in with no appt and was seen right away. This place was clean, I did not feel rushed or uncomfortable. My technician Connie even suggested a different polish as the color I chose tended to be "too chunky/sticky" in her experience and she wanted me to be happy. Everything was fabulous. They have great massage chairs and even give you TWO quick massages while you wait in the manicure chair and for your nails to dry. Absolutely worth it. $32 for a regular mani/pedi. Normally I don't write reviews but this was truly one of the most bizarre nail salon experiences I've ever had. I went in for an acrylic removal and a regular manicure. The staff were nice, but 3 different people came to work on my nails and one of the girls actually took out a metro card to pop off my nails instead of filing them down and soaking them. I eventually got the service I asked for but that is very concerning. Not only would that have been unsanitary, but painful as well and it absolutely destroys your natural nails. read more

I thought that is Nail Painting 101 to prevent nail chipping. Also, I feel that files and buffers they use are too harsh. My nail beds were completely scratched up after my manicure. The mssages I received were mediocre. Pedicure was rushed. Moreover, every time I've come by the owner looks unhappy. They don't even greet you with a smile. I have been a long time customer of Kiki's and left about a year ago because they always seemed so rushed and they thin out the nail polish with acetone to make nails chip faster so you can come back frequently. I went in for New Years Eve and was shocked of how empty it was but figured I have gotten lucky. I got a simple manicure and painted my nails light pink. My manicures usually last a week but this dried out by the second day and started chipping. For a $12 manicure, I will stick to Athena's on 31st street where my manicures last a week and the nail technicians aren't rude or rushed. read more

Well.. I hate to do this but I would definitely not recommend this place because not only did they ruin my friends nails, but they scolded her and made her feel bad when she asked to have them fixed. If you're paying 55 dollars for nails and they come out looking botched you'd obviously want to atleast see if they could fix it since you're paying for a service. Even if the store is busy, as a business owner I would offer the customer $$ off for next time or ask them to come back tomorrow.
