This is an incredible swimming facility with three different types of pools: (1) large 50 meter x 8 lanes , set up for swim meets or blocked no off for 25 meter swim lanes and diving sections in the deep end; (2) 4-foot tapered to 2-foot for water aerobics classes, disabled swim lanes and children's or non swimmers play area; (3) shallow 1+ foot kiddie pool with water fountains and gated perimeter for safety. There is no fee charged. Appropriate number of lifeguards are on duty. They are always professional and personable. Showers outdoors and in the restrooms/ locker rooms are available for mandatory showers before swimming. The facilities are well maintained. This place is quite amazing!!! read more

This is the world's best swimming pool. Huge, clean, perfect temperature. Lifeguards are vigilant. They have water aerobics, locker rooms with showers. It is one of my favorite places when I visit Maui. And it is free! read more

The pool has recently been renovated and looks fresh. Looking closer as you get into the pool there is candy and snack wrappers everywhere. Staff should clean up after event and on a daily basis. Also lifeguards on their phones instead of doing their job. One lady mid thirties maybe was on her phone the entire time we were there. Good luck if there is an emergency. I am all for youth sports but is it too much to ask that it be posted on the website and at the actual facilities when the pool will be closed to the public for whatever competitive sports are scheduled for the site? I was there yesterday until 4 PM closing time and did not see ANY notice of future closure. I checked online before I went there today at noon, again no notice of closure, only to be locked out at the gate when I got there. This is a very easy public courtesy that is being neglected. read more

Enjoying the Senior Aquatic excercise classes! The pool is using a salt water filtration system, so the Chlorine content is much lower, and I can feel the difference! Thanks to the management for keeping us safe and providing a wonderful water experience. read more

Used to be great for seniors. But something happened end of 2024. They lost the great swim instructors and the water acrobatic program was greatly reduced in size and you had to sign up at beginning of quarter to get one of the now very limited slots. If you not there at beginning of quarter signup time, all slots filled by pack of friends signing for other friends. It so anti-Hawaiian in attitude by pool management. Suggested signup each week only with ID verification. Everyone else is excluded now! read more

It is a very clean facility, they play great music, lanes for swimmers to practice, huge area for free swimming and jumping off the diving boards. Clean showers separated by men and women with lockers. The staff is friendly and always watching. read more

This community pool used to have amazing deep water & shallow aerobics classes. New leadership is not friendly to seniors at all.

The facility is first rate, but management and lifeguards are not. Equipment paid for by taxpayer $ is locked up in the pump room to spite patrons who would use it were it available. Patrons do NOT come first at this facility. read more

This place was the worst place to go. I went with my friends when we were on vacation in Hawaii and they close the diving board. I remember a long time ago when I came they had it open and now they closed it and we're not allowed to go on there and the lifeguards were really rude. they constantly are telling you what to do and not being nice about it. The sprinklers were on at the pool and me and my friend were trying to swim under it and they had told us that we couldn't be swimming under the sprinklers so we weren't allowed to go on the diving board and we also we're not want to go on the sprinklers? I feel like there is no fun things to do there. There are all the strains. there are too many rules, and we cannot even have fun read more

Beautiful aquatic center right off the main road in town. I competed here decades ago when it was brand new and to this day it is my favorite aquatic center. There are multiple pools for various activities and lots of deck space. It does get quite windy in the afternoons - during one meet in 2001 the easy-ups all flew into the pool while swimmers were swimming a long distance race. I felt so bad for them having to redo that heat because of everything going into the pool! In any case, if you are a swimmer or family looking for a stunning facility that is completely gated and safe, look no further. read more

We used to love this pool but similar to other reviews recently had an experience with an older male lifeguard and the manager of the pool. After church a few weeks ago we went there (Sunday) . The minute my three kids walked into the pool area they were told not to run and to put their hair back which is fine but a) my three year old was just walking fast as he was excited to get in the pool and b) the way the information was communicated to him was overly aggressive and he was scared to play after that. Then the older male lifeguard joined in with his admonitions. My child's father called to let me know he was joining us. I answered the 5 second call while my 4 year old was in the fountain pool (knee high) while keeping my eye on him. The male lifeguard began yelling at me that he was "not going to watch my kid for me". Meanwhile he had just sat down a minute prior and previously there had been no guard there at all. It was so embarassing that my kids and I ended up leaving because at that point my three year old was so nervous he couldn't enjoy himself anyways. I spoke to the younger male on duty about it and left. We will not be back. I know that had my childs father been with me this older male lifeguard would never have addressed me like that. read more

I love going here and I enjoy the classes. But I'm really disappointed that the deep water class is no longer offered. It seems no good reason was given and office politics got in the way. The deep water class really was beneficial to my health. Keeping me mobile and heart healthy. Stacy the teacher really had as heart for the class and is an excellent teacher. read more

I just downgraded a few stars because after the multi multi Month refurb of the lap pool, it is finally open. Of course for some inexplicable reason on a sultry hot dogged August Saturday they closed off the lap pool at 3:30. The hours are too short already. Summary: Closes daily at 4:30 when it is open, unless they change it. Grrr read more

First of all...how picky can one be on a FREE amenity? But for real, it is a nice place. It is best to take a swim while school is in session, as it won't be as crowded. Grab yourself a monthly schedule on the way in to be informed on random closings and to find out about their [again] FREE classes and swimming lessons. Free swimming lessons is a huge safety benefit to a community that largely centers on the ocean. This is an excellent place to be on the days that the ocean is rough or the conditions have become too windy. read more

I am in Maui for a month caring for my disabled, elderly father. It's my parents first visit back since before covid and it's been a little stressful but wonderful to be back in Maui. We have been coming for years and I'm actually thinking about moving here to work, it has become my home away from home. My mom has bad arthritis so exercising in a pool is best for her. This aquatics center has free water exercise classes my mom has taken over the years and I decided to join her this trip. The teacher is amazing and the pool is beautiful. I understand that We are very lucky to have access to this pool as visitors. I was unaware of the pool rules that are posted outside the pool, but in my defense the sign needs to be fixed(words and letters are missing) and it could be bigger(it's off to the left), and there's a bunch of other signs posted around it too. I was chewing gum and that's not allowed just fyi(but I didn't know this yet). An older, petite, male lifeguard ran over to the pool and sternly and loudly said to me in front of a large exercise class of men and women, " you need to spit out your gum now , don't you know it's a choking hazard?" So I immediately climbed out of the pool and spit out my gum...rules are rules, I got it....but a little more aloha spirit outta this older male pool lifeguard would have been nice, Instead of publicly humiliating me for something I was unaware of. Today after showering before entering the pool(another rule just fyi), I applied a small amount of sunscreen to my tattoos..not my entire body, just a couple of small areas on my arm and foot. I was getting my exercise equipment and was going to set it down by the pool and sit down on a bench for about 10-15 minutes to let my sunscreen soak in. But, before I could sit down, the same older, petite, male lifeguard that reprimanded me for chewing gum approached me and in a hostile tone, once again loud so others at the pool could hear said," you can't get in the pool you need to wait 20 minutes before you get in." He had no idea that's what I was trying to already do but he was very rude and loud and seemed angry and (rather hostile and verbally aggressive), and then proceeded to call me a KAREN, and tell me I could go rinse off the sunscreen and then get in the pool which was totally unnecessary and unprofessional and was witnessed by other women in the pool who thought his behavior towards me was rude as well. Then, Another nice much younger and clearly professional male lifeguard intervened and told Glen to stop and apologized for his behavior. I had asked the older male lifeguard for his name to which he lied and said his name was George(it's really Glen). Now I'm far from perfect and may or may not have used some colorful not so aloha words back but after being harassed twice by an verbally aggressive , angry older man, I felt insulted and publicly humiliated not once, but twice. He also told me I had to get out of there. Little did he know several of the other women had put on sunscreen but didn't wait 15 minutes before entering the pool, and one of the ladies had dog poop on the bottom of her shoes. Just make sure you don't chew gum, you shower before you get in the pool and you arrive early enough so Glen sees you applying sunscreen and wait at least 20 mins before getting in the pool. Oh and don't forget your aloha spirit, that stuff is contagious. I think George/ Glen missed that day in his pool lifeguard training. read more

Out of all the public pools on Maui Kihei aquatic center is the best one in my opinion. On Thursdays they open up the 50 meter and in April for long course. It's very clean, very nice sunny bathrooms are decent. The chlorine is generally high, my skin and sinuses are super sensitive and it's above the standards required. Other guards at other pools confirmed it. The big pool in Kahului beside Baldwin High keeps chlorine at normal levels and is also very nice. The heaters at this one were broken back in Feb, but they got them fixed a few days later. It's free, so that is great, but I would rather pay $5 to have it managed better on the chemicals. read more

The perfect place to take the keiki for a swim or do a few laps before work. This is especially true on the days when the trade winds have kicked up early, or if they happen to be burning cane and you don't want to deal with cane ash in the ocean. They offer a keiki pool that is about calf deep and has a huge water fall/fountain for cooling off in. They also have a graded pool used many for group swim and some of the smaller classes for swim instruction or water aerobics (which is offered almost daily). Lastly, they have a bisected Olympic pool with 2 dozen lanes or so, plus 3 towers for diving. The pool is regularly closed on holidays of observance for cleaning purposes as well, however, offers excellent hour of operation aside from those closures. Located next to the Kihei DMV and the Community Center, this is an excellent free community pool. Most importantly for the novice swimmers - there are always multiple life guards on duty. read more

I love this pool not only is it clean/well kept, the life guards are over the top nice. I've been taking my brother with special needs a couple times a week for about a year now. The head life guard Stacy made a point to come say hi to us one day and he now calls her his pool mom. She even took the time to introduce him to the deep end of the pool which he was scared of and now it's the only place he wants to swim! All of the other life guards take the time to say hi and come check in with him, after leaving the pool it always changes his day. Kindness goes a long way. read more

One of the best public pools I have ever been to. They have the Olympic sized lap pool with diving boards and deep water aerobics. Plus water polo lessons. The smaller training pool with lanes for swimming or walking laps, and shallow water aerobics, or a section for playing great for kids, with a bench in the water for parents to sit. There is a toddler waterfall pool as well for the younger kids. Plus FREE swim lessons! We started at 3 months with mommy and me classes. They have grassy areas to lay out as well. You have to supply your own lock if using lockers in changing rooms. read more

I love this pool and the staff are amazing!!! David K manages this aquatic centre and you can see him running around sometimes teaching, arranging stuff to get ready for the water polo girls etc etc. He and Leighton are my swim coaches too and they are just the coolest dudes! Always smiling and welcoming. Then there's Andrea too quite a cool lady and I don't know the names of the rest of the staff but they're all very nice! I do my laps in this pool and I feel so welcome here! And it's FREE!!! I debated writing this review coz I don't want this pool to get too many people...haha. read more

There is no better place to swim then here however read on. Due to Covid reservations are needed (no same day walk-in swim lanes). But these rules are rigid and Life Guards (the men) are basically brain dead. When asked about reserving for July 6th we were NOT able to reserve on Friday July 3rd as it was a recognized holiday. Who knew that? Remember most of us are not working or are retired. About 15 of us who swim at 11am spoke up on Friday July 3rd about not being told HOW to reserve. They did NOT post how on the White Board where we ALL check for information. However we learned later that "management "posted" this information on Maui Now. Who is reading that to find updated information about pool hours? Why NOT post at the pool? Hello? Is this run by a bunch of bureaucrats? Please if you insist we follow the rules make sure you both Post and Communicate thoroughly that there are changes made to how and when the schedule is changing. Similarly with Life Guards - if we happen to be 3 minutes late (when you happen to open ) then close the gate why be so mean to NOT let those who reserve come in anyway? Does it really matter? Loosen up a bit we are all in this together so please at least act like you care. Thanks . read more

Second time today going to this pool. It's nice. Could be a little cleaner and the staff could have name tags. Why? Because today a little kid had an "accident" in the keiki pool and the boy lifeguard that was there started yelling to all the other kids leave the pool. My kid wasn't understanding what was going on and this Boy lifeguard decided to yell at him to get out of the pool immediately. When I say yell I mean rude and not kid friendly at all. Needless to say momma bear came out but I'm proud to say I didn't raise my voice but got the message through. So to finish, the pool is nice and some of the staff are friendly enough except this boy that apparently feels he has to show his exaggerated authority to little kids.
