Our preschool child has been going to this childcare for 6 months now. We toured a total of six (6) childcare daycares in the Richardson, Murphy and Wylie areas as we decided on which school our child would attend, as live near Murphy (close to FM544 and Murphy Road area). We considered the following things during our review of the six preschool centers we visited: (a) building aesthetics -- Kids R Kids Richardson was the clear winner in this category hands down as they have a literally new and airy building with clean and spacious classrooms, very large and grassy play grounds with lots of slides and playground equipment; (b) What is the classroom environment like? -- We considered Primrose at Breckinridge Park, Children's Lighthouse, Whistle Stop and Breckinridge Montessori, New Century Montessori, and Healthy Beginnings Montessori as the other schools we visited. Kids R Kids Richardson stood out in this criteria because they are an accredited school, have a corporate education department which writes their curriculum and their daily curriculum involves play-based learning (which to me as a parent means that kids play and learn at the same time, so, it enhances the learning for young minds); (c) what is/are the teacher's qualifications? We interviewed the center's director, managers and front office personnel, as well as visited with the teachers very briefly. In our opinion, Healthy Beginnings with its Montessori teaching method came close, as we were impressed with their director and assistant director, but, Kids R Kids came out with an upper hand because they have a friendly office staff as well as most of their Preschool teachers are also EC-4 certified. Especially their 3 year and 4 year old programs' main teachers are EC-4 or EC-6 certified. The teacher certification gives us assurance that the ladies in the classroom that are in charge of my child are qualified and college degreed with 4-yr college degrees. We also observed that the Kids R Kids location is using the Smart Board computer enhanced technology. We have found out that Kids R Kids is pursuing a separate certification from Texas School Ready to accredit and certify their Pre-K (4+ years) classroom; (d) What are extra curricular offerings like? We spoke to various preschool directors during our visit to these schools and determined that Kids R Kids location include Spanish (daily), music curriculum (weekly), gymnastics (weekly) as a part of their core competencies. Plus, we were surprised to find out that the music and gymnastics programs are offered by professional coaches from professional companies that specialize in these programs for young children; (e) What's the pricing? Of course if money were no objective, we would hire a nanny and a certified teacher to take care of our kids. In doing our research, we found that Primrose Breckinridge Park is the most expensive. In addition to the weekly tuition, they have a registration fee, supply fees twice a year and also if your children participate in extra curricular activities you are expected to pay an activity fee. Most other centers have both a registration fee and supply fees. The other centers did not say that they offered any third party or professional programs such as music or gymnastics, etc. One of the centers also has a fee for meals (wow!!). It seems that fees galore exists in the childcare industry. Kids R Kids (Richardson center) has a Registration fee (which was $100) and other than the weekly tuition, they do not have other fees such as for supplies or food. The tuition is less than the Primrose of Breckinridge Park and the overall cost is less than Primrose and Healthy Beginnings. Kids R Kids is at par with Breckinridge Montessori school (but the latter has no classroom cameras for parents' viewing of their children). Kids R Kids is also at Par with New Century Montessori. However, Kids R Kids is higher in tuition than Children's Lighthouse and Whistle Stop by about $20-30 per week. Overall, we still decided with Kids R Kids because of the strength of their curriculum, teacher quality, pleasing owners and teachers and for the fact that each parent can see the kids via secured cameras, which is accessed via the iPhone (and other smartphone). Best of all the camera access is free. We have been at Kids R Kids for 6 months now and we love it. My kid continues to learn and enjoy at the school. The facility is new and high tech, cameras everywhere but don't let that fool you, their cirriculum is terriblely BAD. My child was learning alphabet, read n write before he was transfer here, after attending here he quit learning and instead pick up bad behavior from other kids. I walk in 1 time and witness a child with his mouth full of water then he spit out at all the other classmate, i Looked at the teacher n she say to me "that's how they are here . The school do not have a disciplinary system the kids hit and spit at eachother in class, push and shove and the owner's excuse are "they're hyper n just being kids". My son was bully by a classmate n came home with scratches n bit mark on his body. We had a talk with a few teachers and they agreed with the bad behavior with all the kids here and stated that they're working on it. We brought up this issue up with the owner, instead of consideration n looking into it, she automatic denied it and make us look bad like we're difficult parents. He was there for 2 months n went through 3 different teachers, I think even teachers don't like it there, the ratio of kids are toooo high for just one teacher. The teacher refuse to talk to the owner because she will not take any action and teachers r afraid of losing their job. I want to give a huge compliment to Kids R Kids, Richardson on North Star. We are raising my granddaughter & have had her 3 1/2 yrs. We are so impressed with the owner & staff, they are always polite & respectful and our granddaughter loves it there! They have field Trips in the summer to fun places for children, Splash day on Fridays in the pool, they have a celebration for the beginning of school. They are having a School bash party on Sat. I rarely write reviews. I really wanted to write this time to share our wonderful experience with Kids R Kids at Westridge, McKinney location. It's the same ownership as in Richardson. We started our 2 and 1/2 year old son from January. He loves Ms. Lauren and Ms. Sima. He was home with us and his grandparents until then and we were worried about the transition. But, his teachers, and ALL the amazing staff made it super easy. It took only a day for him to get comfortable. Highly recommend Kids R Kids! read more

Do not use this place, it's horrible! One teacher who has a horrible attitude kept her long acrylic nail pointed, after multiple talks with the incompetent director to no avail. I decided to take him out, so when I gave them my 2 weeks notice, they mistreated my son..! Have been pleased with the care offered by this preschool. For one, the owners are always present. The front office staff are friendly and seem to know everyone entering or leaving the school by their names. The teachers are spirited and friendly and I noticed that the preschool wing teachers are certified and have a 4-year college degree. read more
