Let's just say that I couldn't eat anything on my plate because my rolls tasted absolutely atrocious. The texture was nauseating. Fantastic! We had a fabulous experience at Kicky's this past weekend. It's hard to believe that this place was once the home of a Boston Market. The interior decor is modern, clean, and welcoming. Their seating options are rather unique. They have large tall booths for a moderate sized party or the standard tables of 4 for your more traditional dining experience. Their menu is extensive, consisting of thai and japanese cuisine. Portion sizes are right on target and their plates and glasses are modern and fun. I had sushi and thought it was great, while my dining companions had thai. I tried some of their dinners and found it to taste just as fabulous as it looked. We will definitely be back. read more

Don't GO!!!! Wasted my time and money here. Our order was wrong twice!!!!! The waiter disagreed and said that's what we ordered!! Took 30 minutes for our rolls to arrive at our table. The rolls weren't worth the wait. The waiter never apologized and the manager never came to our table after we requested to speak to him. Sounded like he was busy yelling at the kitchen staff. I've eaten here a few times and it has been consistently delicious. Kicky's is very eclectic in many different ways. It's easy to miss on the outside but very tastefully decorated on the inside (even the little things, like the curved glasses they use). They serve a wide variety of food worth returning for, and despite the wide range of foods I've tried I haven't had a bad meal yet. My favorite dish here is the tamarind duck. They have all sorts of surprise sales too - I was here on Sunday and they randomly took 20% off of the bill. read more

Not impressed with this place at all!! First off, the restaurant was cold, both in temperature and in atmosphere. You couldn't relax when you got in because everything was very uptight. When we were seated, a random waiter that didn't even seem assigned to certain tables came and said, "do ya know what you wanna drink or not". Not only were we welcomed with a loud obnoxious waiter, our actual waiter came and asked what we wanted to eat four times/ every two minutes and the menu is large and confusing to look at. The worst thing was that when we finally ordered, the same waiter that was SO attentive to us to order forgot we even existed for A WHOLE HOUR. we never got water refills, we weren't assured our order was coming, she never even checked on us. After one of three disappointing order arrived, the other two orders didn't arrive at our table until another FORTY MINUTES AFTER THE FIRST. thats one hour and forty minutes OF JUST WAITING. She only brought our second order out when we inquired how much longer it would be. When she brought our orders out which actually was slightly cold, she blamed it on the dish taking a long time to cook. We ordered a teriyaki chicken and beef dish both in bento boxes. PLEASE TELL ME HOW PUTTING SALAD AND RICE AND FRIED VEGGIES IN A BOX AND COOKING THE SMALLEST PORTION OF MEAT BTW CAN TAKE ALMOST TWO HOURS. not only were we appalled that this waiter was giving us a BS response to her terrible service, the food was mediocre in presentation and in taste. At the end when we wanted a box to wrap our food, she left for twenty minutes.. FOR A BOX. a different waiter saw that we needed a box and brought one out along with our check before the actual waiter even came back. AND THEY BROUGHT DIFFERENT CHECKS. clearly no one in the restaurant is on the same page. If you are looking for a nice easy laid back delicious hot meal, this is not the place. They will only irritate you by the time you leave. If you're on rt 34, there is literally three other sushi places within a few miles like mahzu, Ganga, wasabi, Etc. Great place. The outside is definitely misleading. By the look of it you would think it was some king of chain but that's not the case. The inside is really nice and the food is very good. Lunch specials here are AMAZING!!! Cheap and delicious! This place has the best noodles and Sesame chicken I had ever had!! Sushi is good too. I used to go to Ganga, which is not too far down the road, and while the ambiance is nicer at Ganga, at least you don't have to worry about the manager throwing sushi on your lawn. My wife says that Kicky's these days reminds her of the innkeeper in Les Miserables. Any way they can they add to the bill. We had ordered lunch and the waiter asked us if we would like tea with the meal. Evelyn said yes, and to keep her company I said I would take tea also. We had two little cups of tea and $2 was added to the check. Today I ordered a Thai dish. The menu item had an asterisk that said, "spicy." I ordered the dish and said it should be spicy since some restaurants tone the spiciness down for non-Asians. That added 50 cents to the check. No problem, it was the waitress who charged me the extra so I pretended not to notice and paid what I would have without the surcharge. If the waitress is going to charge me for reminding her that the dish was supposed to be spicy, she can spring for the difference. The restaurant was what I would guess to be less than 60 degrees. I had to eat in my jacket to keep warm. There are enough good restaurants in the area that I don't feel I have to be overcharged by Kicky's. read more

We visited this place about a year ago and loved it. There are specials on different days. We went on a Thursday so it was 40% off Thai food. We ordered some sushi as appetizers, the volcanos were delicious. We all ordered the Thai for for our dinner. We found service and quality had gone down hill in the Fall to the point where we will no longer be dining here. Rolls have become really small and fish sometimes seems not so fresh. I can't believe this place is still open! I went there today for lunch with my 2 kids and the service was just horrible! We were the first ones there and ordered pretty quickly. I ordered 2 bento boxes and the generals tso chicken off the lunch menu. The waitress brought 1 soup and salad, which I just figured she would be back with the other soup but she did not. Hence, my first complaint. My food came out first minus the California roll that comes in the bento box, so I start to eat. Its almost 40 minutes from the time we ordered when my kids food comes out. The order was wrong on the 2nd bento box! By this time my son is starving and we are still waiting for sushi! I went to Kicky's for the first time this evening. I am on a gluten free diet. The menu didn't list gluten/wheat free specials. Finally someone helped me to find something I could eat. There wasn't choice though. I ended up with the mango shrimp. From the first bite I can tell it was too spicy! I figured I'd eat it just because it was getting late and I didn't want to go elsewhere. This used to be my favorite sushi restaurant until I made the mistake of sitting down to eat 40 minutes before they closed on a Monday night. We ended up ordering at 9:40pm, a full 20 minutes before the kitchen closed and were given unnecessary attitude the entire time. When we received our food at 10pm, (closing time), one of the girls in my group had a piece of hair on her plate. She didn't complain as the whole staff already seemed irritated with us. About 10 minutes into our meal, and therefore 10 minutes after closing, the staff shut off the tv, music, and air conditioning and threw our check on the table and continued to give us unnecessary attitude. I asked for the manager and the girl responded innocently "He's not here is there a problem?" I proceeded to tell her that I myself work in a restaurant and we don't try to make our guests feel uncomfortable until about an hour and a half after closing, not 15 minutes after. We didn't even get to finish our food. In my opinion, the staff was a bit dramatic and very unprofessional. If they couldn't treat us respectfully, maybe they should have just not let us sit down in the first place. But even before this incident happened, I thought the service sucked because they're super slow and not attentive. read more

Absolutely appalling after finding hair in my sashimi lunch platter and having the manager return w/ the dish (after the waitress was apologetic), holding the piece of hair and telling me that it doesn't belong to anyone who works in the restaurant!. This was a disgrace and they should be ashamed of how they handled this situation. Since I was dining with friends, I told them to take my platter off the bill and that I did not want a replacement dish. I was sure they would have used the same pieces of sashimi that I returned. Either the server we had has a hearing problem, or he needs to write down what the diner's order. My husband and i went on Saturday, since they have a great deal with a coupon... Well, it's only a great deal if you get what you ordered/how you want it... my husband's meal was fine. he enjoyed it. Me? I ordered "terriyaki fried rice and rib eye steak - very rare".. imagine my surprise when 20 minutes later, we both received bento boxes.. getting his attention took about seven minutes. He looked perplexed when i told him i ordered terriyaki fried rice and rib eye steak - very rare. He then stated "oh, i'll get you the bento box with rib eye steak." I then said, "i didnt want ANY bento box. i just want terriyaki fried rice and rib eye steak - very rare"... okay. so... 20 minutes goes by. husband is done eating and out comes my rice. "your steak will be another minute" that was my clue. "How does very rare steak take longer than rice?" fell on deaf ears, since the waiter was already onto the next table. Five minutes later, you guessed it... the rib eye comes out - and it's well done. Waiter never came back to our table. i'm pissed now. husband said we'll take it to go and he'll eat it at home later. [he did, wasnt impressed, said it was all grizzle]... when we got our bill, the server wrote down in the computer system "well done." Awesome!!!! Definetly a diamond in the rough. If you like sushi and a variety of fresh fish this is the place. I've eaten here abot 20 times and its a great place to entertain business clients for lunch. The staff is 100% on top of their game.The service has been more than friendly. The decor is very modern and a nice change from the usual sushi places around.You cant go wrong if you appreciate sushi like I do. I brought my husband here today because I enjoyed the food that I had last week at a friend's party for her sons. I also thought that the decor was unique and the booths allow small groups to have privacy when dining in. I called first & made a reservation for 11:30 am. We were the first customers. We arrived @ 11:35 am. The server seemed to hesitantly show us in. She was still putting dinner napkins @ the table. We ordered coffee first because we haven't had our breakfast coffee yet. We were told it's going to be prepared yet & may take a while & we said ok. I went to the bathroom & noticed that it seems to need cleaning. The automatic paper towel dispenser wasnt working.After 10 minutes their second set of customers arrived. We ordered pad Thai and bulgoki. Service was really slow and quite selective.The coffee , which was actually good, took a long time to arrive. The family that got there later than us were served their meal first. The bulgoki which we ordered from their lunch menuwas surprisingly chicken instead of beef which we returned & the server offered to change it. Pad Thai arrived finally and by then we were already unhappy with the kind of treatment that we were getting so we said forget about the bulgoki already. We just wanted to finish the pad Thai, which was really good though, pay our bill and leave. I'm not coming back even if the food is good.
