I used to have a very good impression of Sakura Sushi. It was once a restaurant with a good…read morereputation, where the sushi was fresh, the rolls were generously filled, and they certainly didn't seem to cut corners. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. The rolls are now mostly rice and avocado, with microscopic pieces of fish. The portions of fish are so small that it is difficult to even taste it. For the quality and amount of food you receive, the prices are absolutely outrageous. I am extremely disappointed. This restaurant has changed for the worse, and I would not recommend Sakura Sushi to anyone.

That said, the quality has slipped a slight notch from before. They also own Oyako Tso in Freehold, which does 50% off sushi, but Konbu is definitely the stronger of the two spots. The sushi and sashimi combo is still a solid order, but pro tip: ask for regular tuna in the tuna rolls. They tend to use a lighter colored fattier tuna that comes off mushy and slightly fishy at times. Would also be nice if soup and salad were included with every sushi entrée.

I love that for the lunch special you get both soup and salad. I feel like all other locations it is either one of the other. After placing my order it is usually ready with. 15-20 minutes. I always opt for their rolls or sashimi specials. Their rolls are absolutely humongous and loaded with sushi. Most places skimp and either give you a small roll or a big roll which is mostly rice. Not here! I love their sashimi as it is super fresh, no fishy smell or taste, and they give you thick meaty slices. The quality here is always top notch and I'm always happy with what I order.

We wanted to celebrate Fathers Day with 3 dads with a total of 10 of us tonight. We arrived around…read more5:30p and it wasn't very crowded and we were seated immediately. That sadly was the best part of the night. We ordered; 8 AYCE and 2 ordered ala carte. My wife's vegetarian and doesn't eat much and my mom doesn't eat raw sushi and ordered the teriyaki shrimp. 1. The service is horrible. We waited 20mins to get our first appetizers. The waitress just dropped off plates and didn't explain what they were. My mom noticed the table next to us ordered what she got and a few minutes later, the waitress asked if she received her entree, which she replied no, and then she went to the table next to us and grabbed their plate and brought it back to the kitchen. We assume they reheated and replated the dish because it was way overcooked. 2. Long wait. Some items didn't arrived after over an hour and we asked about them multiple times. As we were ordering our 2nd round, we just reordered them. We got our waters refilled often but they never checked in to see if we were receiving our food or if we wanted to order more. Like they didn't ask one time. 3. Lost in translation. My parents are immigrants, so I am pretty understanding but the waitress didn't understand much of what I was saying and when I asked for extra ginger while pointing at it she looked very confused. I also asked her what a few items were when she brought them, and she didn't respond. 4. 10% coupon: don't bother trying to use the 10% off coupon from their own website. When we asked for the check, I showed her the coupon and she looked confused like I made it up and I let her know it was from their website under "coupons". She went to the back to ask about it and returned to say it was for online orders only. I mentioned that the coupon doesn't have any fine print except it can't be used with any other offers, and she didn't try to help at all which was frustrating. At the end of the day, it was probably one of the worst meals I've ever had. The food quality was ok except for my mom getting a reheated meal. But the service was terrible. It sucks to have to wait so long for food and things coming out randomly and my son and wife waiting over an hour for their items while others are pretty much done. Save yourself the aggravation and try something else.

He put on a great show that kept everyone entertained, especially my kids, who absolutely loved both the food and the experience. The biggest surprise was the sushi. Before even writing this review, we've already been back two more times. That's how much we enjoyed it!
