YUM YUM YUM! the sushi here is always incredibly fresh and delicious. the presentation?? beautiful. the summer blossom roll is a unique roll i cannot find anywhere else - my favorite to exist! so crisp and sweet and rich. 10000/10. the staff are very attentive to drinks, knowledgable on questions, and friendly!

This place was a delightful surprise. I often pass by but this was my first time stopping in and it was phenomenal. From the Indian pancake, to the duck rolls, everything was incredible. The place was super cute and not overly crowded. I will say the only the that prevented them from a 5 Star is the service could have been a bit more attentive to us. We waited quite a while for our dessert and bill. Otherwise everything from the food to the drinks was delicious. I will definitely be back

Great stuff! This place has a great vibe, good music and lots of energy! Oh right the food...great! Good sushi with a lot of love put into it. Lots of sashimi options and creative maki rolls! My buddy and I love the sushi boat. Come for a good time!

The rolls were good but the apps stole the show. Loved the sushi pizza - def recommend. Everything was fresh. Ambiance was really nice and service was great.

This is definitely one of the better Japanese / sushi restaurants I've come across in Jersey, with high quality ingredients and a fusion of different Asian flavors. Specialty rolls were in large portions, with the perfect amount of rice/fish ratio. You will find some out of the box flavors, such as the sushi roll featuring shrimp tempura, banana, and fig. Doesn't sound like a traditional sushi combination, but it somehow works! The bento boxes here seem to be the best value for dinner, providing a taste of everything (and giving you the ability to have a sushi roll with cooked food). This is also the only restaurant I've come across that gives a spicy tuna roll as part of the bento meal, while many other sushi spots opt for something cheaper like a California roll. Service was great & the restaurant has a great atmosphere, fun for grabbing some drinks with friends on the weekend. This restaurant is on the pricier side, but being that it's hard to find quality sushi in NJ I understand why. Will definitely have to try the rest of the menu!

Elegant and delicious, with impeccable service. I asked for a dish no longer in the menu and they made it for me. Love it here.

The food here was unreal. The sushi was fresh, delicious, and unique. The drink menu was amazing as well, well made and delicious!!!! I will definitely be back. My only complaint was the lack of quick service, but it wasn't terrible

Wasn't expecting to be seated right away on Saturday evening, the place was buzzing! The entrance was crowded with parties waiting to be seated and we were lucky. Started with a black and pink roll as an appetizer and for a first time sushi goer it was a hit! Tempur shrimp, fresh crab meat and a light strawberry sauce topped the hefty roll. I ordered a bento box to enjoy a variety of favorites while my partner opted for the filet hibachi. Sesame chicken tasted more like orange chicken but it was enjoyable regardless. Service was quick. The server made sure to get our order in promptly, drinks and water made their way shortly after and he checked in on you without missing a beat. Service was so fast that they did not notice bringing out chipped plates which is a huge no for me. The party next to us had the same fate. Would come back to enjoy a few more tapas and sushi.

Some of the better sushi spots in the Matawan area. Lots of roll options, must try the black and print specialty roll. Great service, restaurant can get busy on weekends but definitely worth the wait. The cocktails are a must including lychee martini and fire breathing dragon drink.

This is a place to come for a lunch special. You get a soup, salad, appetizer and main. So much food for such an affordable price. The service is excellent. The decor is excellent. But most importantly, all of the food here is delicious. Fresh ingredients. I especially loved the sizzling hot beef in the clay pot. Highly recommend. Five stars galore.

That sadly was the best part of the night. We ordered; 8 AYCE and 2 ordered ala carte. My wife's vegetarian and doesn't eat much and my mom doesn't eat raw sushi and ordered the teriyaki shrimp. 1. The service is horrible. We waited 20mins to get our first appetizers. The waitress just dropped off plates and didn't explain what they were. My mom noticed the table next to us ordered what she got and a few minutes later, the waitress asked if she received her entree, which she replied no, and then she went to the table next to us and grabbed their plate and brought it back to the kitchen. We assume they reheated and replated the dish because it was way overcooked. 2. Long wait. Some items didn't arrived after over an hour and we asked about them multiple times. As we were ordering our 2nd round, we just reordered them. We got our waters refilled often but they never checked in to see if we were receiving our food or if we wanted to order more. Like they didn't ask one time. 3. Lost in translation. My parents are immigrants, so I am pretty understanding but the waitress didn't understand much of what I was saying and when I asked for extra ginger while pointing at it she looked very confused. I also asked her what a few items were when she brought them, and she didn't respond. 4. 10% coupon: don't bother trying to use the 10% off coupon from their own website. When we asked for the check, I showed her the coupon and she looked confused like I made it up and I let her know it was from their website under "coupons". She went to the back to ask about it and returned to say it was for online orders only. I mentioned that the coupon doesn't have any fine print except it can't be used with any other offers, and she didn't try to help at all which was frustrating. At the end of the day, it was probably one of the worst meals I've ever had. The food quality was ok except for my mom getting a reheated meal. But the service was terrible. It sucks to have to wait so long for food and things coming out randomly and my son and wife waiting over an hour for their items while others are pretty much done. Save yourself the aggravation and try something else.

We were greeted at the door and were aloud to pick our seat. The ambience is such a cool Asian inspired atmosphere. Mural on the wall, little table top waterfall on the sushi station, bonsai and other nicknacks on the shelves and tv showing peaceful marine life. The menu is very sushi dense, with the whole first 3 pages being sushi. I got the shrimp tempura, dragon roll, and Philly roll with a miso soup. My partner got the green curry, miso soup and white rice. My sushi rolls were so delicious, perfectly fresh, and just so yummy. Shrimp tempura roll 9.0/10 Dragon Roll 8.7/10 Philly Roll 9.1/10 The green curry was different from what we've had in the past, it came out in more of a curry soup. It has baby carrots, onions, chicken, corn, and potatoes. It was my first time trying curry and it was pretty good. 7.8/10 Overall my experience here was nothing but positive. Seemed clean, the wait staff was very attentive, bathroom was clean, service was fast, and atmosphere was cool to look at. Definitely will end up here again, also the price was awful for all the sushi I got. I'd give this place a 9.0/10. Such a cute spot. *4.5 STARS* Despite…read moreit's awkward location on the highway, Koi's inside and food never disappoint. The inside is pretty modern and they have multiple hibachi tables in the back. I recommend making a reservation for hibachi. Koi is BYOB (which is always a positive point for me). Koi has both a delicious sushi and hibachi menu. We enjoy Koi for both dining in and for take out. Truthfully, their avocado rolls are always some of the freshest I've ever had. I particularly enjoy their hibachi noodles and rice, finding them quite flavorful. My husband typically gets chicken and steak hibachi, and it's always cooked perfectly, regardless if we eat there or get it to go. I also love their fried cheesecake. When ordering from here, their portions are LARGE! So, we usually get two meals from one order of hibachi here. I also appreciate whenever I order to go food from where, the server repeats the order on the phone. I've honestly never had a to go menu from here that was wrong. (We order to go from here about once a week, so this is an impressive statistic in my opinion.) On the downside, their hours vary and can be unpredictable- sometimes they close a little early. At times, the service inside can be a little slow. Pros: large portions & fresh sushi Downside: varying hours & slower service when dining in Overall, we really enjoy ordering both hibachi and sushi from koi.

I could have eaten the whole plate- just wish there was a savory dipping sauce too. Kung Pao Fusion- amazing flavor, love anything with zucchini- and slight heat as well. The soy protein in this had great density and was filling. Curry- sliced crispy cutlet on top of a curry sauce with tofu and potatoes- very hearty and a great comfort dish. I think the cutlet was out of place and would have preferred the soy protein from the Kung Pao dish. Very generous portions and the food needs to be experienced fresh! Interesting menu with the mix of sandwiches but stick with the pan-asian dishes.

We started with the miso soup, which was warm and flavorful. The sushi was fresh and everything was nicely presented. I also liked that the menu had a pretty big selection, so there's plenty to choose from even if you're not in the mood for sushi. The bar honestly wasn't high, but this was probably the best dining experience I've had in Keyport,…read moreor close to it. I came here this past Saturday for an early dinner with the Millennial Chum and Co. I've driven or walked by this place a bunch of times, and I've always liked the exterior - it reminds me of an NYC Irish bar, if that makes sense. Not what I'd expect from a sushi establishment. I will say as a caveat that it IS smaller inside than I expected; it's basically one narrow corridor, so as a result it doesn't really have an opportunity to flex its interior design muscles too much. Not really a negative per se, and not something I think they can really do much about unless they move somewhere else with more square footage to play around with. I was a little apprehensive when I looked at the menu and saw they were boasting multiple Asian genres, including the aforementioned sushi but also some Thai, Chinese and Korean. (No, I didn't realize it was Asian fusion, which would have immediately explained this.) In my experience, having TOO varied of a menu can blow up in a restaurant's face, but regardless I came to try the sushi and went right to the special rolls. I opted for the Lover Roll and the Volcano Roll. The Volcano was okay for the most part - this was on me, but I didn't realize it had jalapeno in it, which is clearly referenced in the menu. I don't mind it from a taste perspective, but I hate the crunchy texture in a sushi roll (same with cucumber, which is a sushi dealbreaker for me). It was very easy to remove, and otherwise a perfectly fine roll. I think presentation value-wise it could use something since it basically looks like a pile of sawdust with the lobster salad on top, but it didn't diminish the taste. The Lover is excellent, and I wasn't too surprised to catch multiple sightings of it on other plates as we were walking out. The optics on that one were very unique, a bifurcated heart shape with a heavy dose of predictable pinks and reds. I hadn't really thought about it until now, but my sushi taste tends to go pretty savory with an emphasis on spicy tunas and wasabi mayo, that kind of thing. This is definitely on the sweeter side, which I'm assuming is primarily because of the honey. Regardless, it pairs really well with the rest of the ingredients. One of the better new sushi rolls I've tried recently, and it doesn't seem like I'm in the minority on that one. The service was very good; the Millennial Chum has been here before and said she'd had some issues on prior visits. Thankfully not a problem on this particular adventure - everyone had plans later in the evening and we were able to get in and out of here pretty quickly, probably within 40, 45 minutes or so. The price point wasn't bad either. Admittedly I'm used to being gauged on the regular in Midtown Manhattan, but special rolls being around $15 are a treat in and of itself. I'm not going to say that this is mouth-droppingly amazing sushi, but I think you have to grade on a slight curve in this area - Monmouth is pretty much a barren wasteland when it comes to its gastro offerings so when you find something decent, it's worth noting. Nemo is worth noting.
