I needed new sneakers. When I walked in the door my old running coach is working here now and he…read moredid an amazing job getting me into two pairs of fantastic running shoes. He told me the sneakers I was in or giving me too much support and my knees have been bothering me so he recommended a different pair of sneakers for me after watching me run and they feel amazing. This is exactly what I want in a shoe store. There's nothing better than having a well educated qualified person helping you get a good pair of running shoes.

I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else for running shoes! Even when I've been away at college, I…read morewait to get new shoes until I come home or I have my mom mail me a new pair. Everyone who works here is more than experienced when it comes to running, some of them are even coaches at local schools! A lot of them run all the local marathons, which is so cool to hear! Almost all of them have given me small bits of advice while they watch me run, and all the advice has been just what I never knew I needed! When you're trying on shoes, they try to give you about three different brands to try. I've been using Saucony Everun Ride 150's, but my high school cross county and track coach who works here recommended some Mizunos to train for my half marathon in. I LOVE THEM! I've only ever used ASICS and Saucony, but I was blown away with my Mizunos when I test ran them. That's another thing! They let you test run the shoes! They always tell you to go outside their store and run some to see how they feel. This has been extremely helpful! Shoes I would have bought had I (not practice ran them) ended up feeling like they were gonna fall off while I ran or pinched my toes. Seriously, I don't think you should go anywhere else for your running shoes! This is your place!

The problem is the old timer who owns and runs the joint, he's a jackass on another level. I don't care how knowledgeable you are, if you are such an ass with an even worse tone of voice and condescending as all hell people won't want to do business with you. Tried to tell me that though I was diagnosed with flat feet when I was born that it's my boots that are the problem and caused me to have flat feet. Also irked me that the old timer dang near hit me in the face with his cigarette when he came out to assist. I was calm and polite even with him cursing and being an ass and telling me I'm full of shit and have no idea what I'm talking about with a diagnosis I've had my entire life. When the old timer finally hangs up his tools I'd definitely be willing to give it another shot with the young kid or if the old timer is willing to apologize for being an ass and conduct business like an adult.

If I could post a zero star rating, I would and here's why…read more.. I stopped by this afternoon to return a pair of safety toe shoes that were too small. When I told him I did not want to try on a different size, he started screaming, and cursing me out! saying "you screwed me"! And it just got worse from there. Even with a store full of customers, he continued yelling and cursing. Prior to me buying the pair I was returning, I had asked him to reline the back of the heel of my less than six months old, $250 work shoes. The way he "repaired" them, caused my heel to slip horribly at work the next day. (he glued in a piece of leather, without bothering to fix the padding on the top inside of the heel that keeps your heel from moving up and down) Because I walk anywhere from 10 to 15 miles on concrete per day, I developed horrible blisters. When I took them back in, he got rather obstinate, complaining that I really need to get a new pair of shoes instead of trying to fix these (again... They were less than six months old Red Wings!). His second "repair" was actually a peel and stick pad for the underside of a shoe's tongue. While this worked SLIGHTLY better, it still had problems. By now I could barely walk at work. Over the weekend, after a friend recommended speaking to Ann (who has 30 years in the business) at Lucky shoes in Canton. She was fantastic! Turns out, Bill had recommended the wrong. size. I needed a full size bigger and. 4 E width. You know, I've been in Shoemaker's a few times over the years and on more than one occasion I heard him berate or get nasty with another customer. I honestly thought at the time that it was him joking with customers that he knew. Turns out he's just a cranky old man.

We both had very…read morespecific needs: I have had recurring Achilles injuries and have bunions so finding comfortable shoes is very difficult. My daughter is rehabbing from two different ACL tears in a year and it's very important she has the proper shoes with the right fit and support while she is recovering. As others have said, the staff's knowledge is awesome. They were both incredibly helpful, patient and very detailed with the fit and our gait. While we have gotten other shoes there before, I was so pleased with their service and knowledge that I felt I had to make sure they got some credit for it by writing a review. I was really surprised by the negative reviews here, which all are based on apparently inflated pricing. For the knowledge and time they take with us, I usually don't worry about paying their "retail" price, knowing that the quality and satisfaction with my shoe offsets any slight savings I may get from a discount or big box. Not to mention we prefer to support local business when we can. So I checked the prices of both our shoes online and I could not find them any cheaper online. My daughter's pair was actually $10 less at VR than what I could find online because they gave her a student discount. I won't go anywhere else for any of my family's athletic shoe needs, they really are the best, don't let the reviews about pricing stop you from going there! And if you go and they help you find a great pair of shoes, but you are worried about the price, do a quick online search and compare. If you can find them that much cheaper online, tell them, you never know!
