I will personally vouch for this company, Kick Electric and its employees on their capabilities!
I had my SunPower solar system installed in 2022 less than a year before they declared bankruptcy: 41 panels, 8 batteries, 2 inverters. The battery system died last year almost exactly 2 years after it was installed. SunPower had transferred our contract to SunStrong. SunStrong refused to honor the warranty and quite firmly told me they had no responsibility for the warranty. They refused to offer me any help and even went so far as to threaten me if I withheld payment on the contract. SunStrong is a deeply unethical and unscrupulous company in my opinion based on my interactions with them. Anyway, my installer tried over a 4 months period to get the system working but were unsuccessful. They worked diligently. I cannot fault them for trying and their people did their level best, but they could not figure out what all of the problems were nor fix them as they didn't have system access to the PVS or the inverters. Eventually, they gave up.
That was July, 2025. I have been flaying around since then trying to figure out what to do about this albatross of a nightmare with which I had been saddled.
Well, I stumbled upon a Reddit post one evening a little over 2 weeks ago at the beginning of Oct, 2025 mentioning Kick Electric and their rescuing a dead SunPower SunVault battery system. In sheer desperation, I sent Kick Electric through their website a message detailing my situation. Nick Opdyke responded within a couple of days via email, and we talked a few days later and that was less than 2 week ago.
Nick personally walked me through what I needed to do to get him the information he needed to diagnose the system. He determined that components needed to be replaced, and Kick Electric was able to provide the replacement parts needed. Nick arranged to get the components installed through an independent technician.
The system still wasn't working but at least I had some hope that it would be at that point. And then I started working with his engineering team, Caroline and John. Caroline was apparently doing a lot of back office work getting the system "reinitialized" is the best I can do with my poor understanding of all the things that she was doing.
And then I started working with John, John took over and over the next 3 days diagnosed so many different systems related issues that existed with the components: the PVS, the MIDC, the inverters, and the batteries themselves. He updated all sorts of software that needed to be fixed. He got the system running, actually running. He got the batteries charged! They had been at 2 and 3% when he started. He then spent time to run all sorts of tests to ensure that everything was functioning perfectly. My battery system is purring away right now.
It's been over a year since the batteries started failing, and I adequately describe the relief that my wife and I feel knowing that Kick Electric rescued the single largest investment that we made having solar and batteries installed since we bought this house. Not only that, without those batteries working, our electric bill more than doubled costing us hundreds, yes HUNDREDS, of dollars extra a month since the batteries died last year.
If you have an orphaned SunPower Solar system or SunVault battery system that has died on you or isn't working right, and based on their knowledge, hell I would presume that they can handle any type of solar system, but if you need help and no one else will help you, you don't need to call the A-Team, Call Kick Electric: kickelectrical.com, you can tell them that Ken Swartz sent you and my deep gratitude to them for their work. read more
