You could do a whole lot worse than eating here. In fact, should you find yourself in this area on a Saturday night, desperately iso a place for dinner, after having been quoted 1 to 1 1/2 hour waits at seemingly everyplace else (who me?) this will feel like a downright oasis. So yeah, by the time I finally wound up here, I was so hungry and grumpy that my only two restaurant criterion were edible food and alcohol. Happily, this spot more than exceeded those expectations: We ordered a bunch of mezze to share, with the crispy on-the-outside, fluffy and well-seasoned on-the-inside Falafel being the biggest standout. Hubby, who was practically weaned on the stuff, raved, "This is some of the best Falafel I've ever had." Fwiw, he was also very into the Lentil Soup. Spicy Hummus was good too, but it seemed to get its heat from cayenne. I think next time I'd order the regular Hummus and then add some of the excellent housemade hot sauce to give it some kick. Fattoush Salad was served in a 'bowl' made out of pita, rather than topped with the traditional pita croutons. Fun idea, but I guess I'm a purist since I prefer the classic version. Chicken, Beef, and Lamb Kabobs are available a la carte. We went with the former since @ $6 for a single Kabab with six pieces, it was significantly less pricey than the other two. The chicken was tender and nicely seasoned, but I sort of wished we'd simply ordered more of the Falafel instead. The only truly disappointing thing we tried was, surprisingly, the eponymous Kibbeh. We ordered both Pumpkin and Beef and have had way better in terms of both flavorful filling and crisp bulgur crust. Another slight bummer was the pita, aka flatbread, which was super thin and served in a plastic bag for some reason. In terms of ambiance, I think I saw a review that likened it to that of an "airport lounge," and I can't say I disagree. Not really what I had in mind for a Saturday night. Then again, seating was comfortable and I've been to way more divey Falafel joints. Plus, they serve beer and wine. All in all, especially if hubby has anything to say about it, we'll come back the next time we find ourselves in Danbury and in need of sustenance. read more

Good middle eastern food in a casual, yet upper casual atmosphere. You order the food upfront at the cashier, but then they bring it out to you. Food is freshly prepared so takes some time, but definitely worth the wait. Pro tip: Get a side of their house hot sauce. This stuff is like crack. Pour it over your flatbread and thank me later. I ordered the garlic chicken flatbread and kibbe soup. Had no idea what kibbe was, but it's all over the menu and sounds traditional so I gave it a try. Kibbe is basically a dumpling that they fill with either beef, pumpkin or pork. The garlic chicken flatbread was bomb. Like a super thin pizza, the flatbread was crispy and flaky. The garlic sauce was terrific, kind of like a garlic tzatziki sauce. Add a little of the house hot sauce...BOOM! Perfect dish. I have loved this place for so long. I love their salads and wraps. They have really great food. But the last three times I have ordered takeout they have not put a part of the order in my bag. For example today I ordered a wrap combo and there was no hummus and pita. I order and a family member picks it up so I can't always check. That's obviously REALLY frustrating when you open it up at home and don't get what you asked and payed for. Driving back is really inconvenient. Maybe you can implement a better process for take outs? Considering they are only open for takeout right now I'm not sure why my order isn't correct. read more

First of all, I have never written a bad review. I went into this restaurant thinking I could order a family style dinner, as I have at many other Mediterranean restaurants in the past. I got home and was VERY disappointed.... I ordered $100 worth of food that looked like it was $40 worth at most. 2 skewers of chicken kabobs for $27.00, really?? $60.00 for rice, hummus and salads that were mediocre at best.... The $13.00 of desserts were the most impressive part of the meal. I stopped by for dinner based upon the great Yelp reviews - you typically can't go wrong at a 4 star establishment! That being said - I'm not sure what people are raving about. I ordered the falafel salad (and after seeing the Yelp photos was super excited about it). It comes in a pita bowl which is neat and the falafel itself was actually really, really good, but the rest of the salad was so boring!! Simple shredded iceberg and a mount of watery, flavorless tomatoes. I was so hungry I finished it, but was not super satisfied. This place is ok and would probably be good for lunch, or with a different dish from what I ordered, but the salad itself needs some help. Servers were friendly and quick, they are doing a great job. This is not the best in terms of middle eastern food but they have some dishes that I simply adore...their Russian chicken kale salad is delicious and their chicken Shwarma wrap is very tasty-their lamb dishes have proven to be very dry and have no flavor when lamb by nature has such flavor. Their other salads are very good but for whatever reason, their pre sliced pita breads always seem dry and stale. If it wasn't for their salads, I probably would have given the rating a 3 but the staff is so pleasant and the establishment remains cleaned and well maintained at all times. read more

Amazing! This is my hidden gem the chicken shawarma salad is insane, like I'm actually excited to get a salad. I add feta which is so fresh, and it comes in a pita bowl. It's huge and enough for two meals, like this salad is so good. Also love the hummus, pita, pretty much all the sides! First time I've ever had kibbehs and they were great. Truly the best Mediterranean food around! Falafel is terrific, also the small hand pies, flatbreads, and all of the salads. Like meat? Go for the kibbe, lamb skewers...chicken is too lightly seasoned, so a little bland and dry, so avoid that. We drive about 40+ minutes to go to Kibberia as we love their food & the quality and freshness is unparalleled to any place else! With that said our most recent visit on 9/21 we had pretty much the worst service with no explanation. We ordered a large variety of items for everyone to share at our table as we typically do. The first entree was delivered to our table and then we just waited & waited. As that dish was getting cold we hit the 10 minute mark with nothing else delivered to our table & no new patrons. When I inquired about our food I was met with 3 blank faces & no explanation at all. I get mistakes happen but when I asked for the manager (a young male appeared) and basically didn't see why we were upset just stated they would bring it out when ready but at that point the meals were forgotten about & we endured an even longer wait. No apology, no here's a free piece of baklava for us making a big mistake-nothing just crappy guest services. When the food is this great we don't mind making the drive but for poor service we will think twice next time. read more

My goodness, where do I start! Just moved to Danbury and was looking for healthy options. Since I love middle eastern cuisine, I was happily surprised in stumbling into this hidden gem! Kibbeira blew me away! They have food for everyone and being that I was vegan (thanks to this place I can be!) The menu choices are fantastic! I had the chicken kebab platter. It was so, so good. The rice was fluffy and perfectly cooked. The chicken tender, well seasoned, and mighty tasty. They had kibbeh, and not just like regular meat, but vegetarian and vegan options, and they where gooodd! This place is amazing can go on and on, but my food's getting cold. read more

To the management: The food is delicious and I have come to Kibberia before with no issues. Today I stopped in to buy hummus and baba to have for weekend guests, and asked about the level of heat in their spicy baba. The response I received from one of two women behind the counter was, "If you have to ask then it's too spicy". She then turned her back and casually went about her business. The restaurant did not appear busy as there was only one table occupied, and I was the only customer at the counter. The cashier was not friendly or helpful either. Exceeded all expectations! Recently had a small family celebration catered by this family owned middle eastern restaurant. The portions were extremely generous and the quality outstanding. The kibbe and falafel were very flavorful and lamb and chicken kebab were tender and perfectly seasoned. The hummus, baba ghanouj, lentil salad, fattoush salad, special rice dish, pita and desserts were all superb as well. Mediterranean food downsized for white people. The menu scared me with the selection of wraps and salads but no shawarma. I had hummus and lamb kebabs. Hummus was served in a plastic cup and served with a cold pita in a plastic bag with a small supply of butter. Butter? The plastic bag stored pita was very chewy. The lamb was over cooked and dry. We ordered WAY too much since it was our first time, but enjoyed everything from the spinach & feta pie to the falafel platter. Nice spot. Counter servers were very helpful, courteous, and pleasant. Not very expense for a bean and cabbage on a pita bowl salad. Got a pellegrino and a perri er and escaped for under 15 bucks. Only criticism is could have gone for twice the bean filling and 1/2 to 1/3 the cabbage. The cabbage was flavorful and well seasoned, the bean filling was also good but I would have liked more!!! Also I would have preferred at least 1 gluten free wrap option for all the wonderful wraps or a gluten free bowl for the bean and cabbage salad. No problem, the staff is friendly and willing to help describe the dishes Kibbe Combo is a great way to try several varieties of Kibbe. We like the beef and potato and pumpkin (when available). Don't forget the Hummus and pita bread. Another favorite is the chicken kabob platter with plain rice and garlic sauce (allow extra time for the fresh grilled chicken). But my all-time go-to is the Chicken Shawarma Wrap. Leave room for desert and try the fresh made Baklava - Cashew, Pistachio, and Walnut is the way I rank them. Oh forgot to mention the "pies". Really nice casual Lebanese place. Manousheh/ Flatbreads were really, really good. Hummus was outstanding. Tabouleh fresh and tasty. The salads are subpar though. Iceberg lettuce and what they called "lamb shawarma" was ground seasoned lamb and not what I wanted. The cubed raw white onions rounded out that salad bar taste too. Let me start by saying, the taste of my meal was extremely good. Their Kibbe was absolutely exceptional in taste and texture. The place is very spacious, and the service was pretty attentive. I have two small qualms however. 1) The guy at the desk didn't know what Na'an (flatbread) was. I had to say "pita" before he understood. I get that different countries call it different thing, but if your claim is a Middle Eastern establishment, educate the staff accordingly. When the "pita" did arrive with the hummus, it was very clearly store bought, cool, and tough to chew. A far cry from homemade Na'an served warm with dressed hummus. 2) My lamb schwarma was actually just a tore up beef patty. As I mentioned, it tasted great, and it actually took me a few bites before I caught on. I am not a picky eater, and I was hungry, so it wasn't a big deal. I feel that there are many folks out there that would have made it a bigger issue if discovered. When Arby's has real schwarma lamb racks in their kitchen, so should you. This is one of our favorite restaurants in this area to get vegan food. There are quite a few vegan options, all of them very delicious.

We visited the Kibberia on Christmas Eve Eve because we didn't want to brave the crowds near the mall with a large group. It was a great choice. You order at the counter and they bring the food when ready. We started with apps of babajonush and hummus both of which were very good. We were supposed to have a falafel flatbread too but due to an ordering mixup that came with the entrees. The entrees themselves were tasty. Mine was a chicken kabob that also came with hummus (would have been nice if the menu said that), garlic sauce and rice. I would have liked to try the lamb kabob but it was really expensive as compared to the chicken (nearly double) which doesn't make sense. I know lamb is expensive but not that much! We ended up comp'd for the flatbread mixup and they were nice enough to take an extra order of chicken kabobs off the bill after the guy at the counter was confused as to how many the large group really needed. read more
