Khan Mongolian is an unassuming but quite good Mongolian style grill. Most diners would compare it to the Ghengis Grill, an Atlanta chain, or Hu Hot, a Montana chain, while Khan has another location in Louisiana, it is more akin to a local family restaurant. The approach is similar to the two major chains mentioned. The customer picks items to be grilled with chosen sauces and presents to the cooks who prepare the dishes. In a manner similar to the Genghis Grill it is a single trip event. I somewhat prefer Hu Hot because it has unlimited trips to the grill. This allows the customer to have small portions and experiment with different combinations of ingredients and sauces. A major difference at Khan is the that the ingredients are all fresh and thus seem to have more intense flavors than the other two. A disadvantage of fresh is that Hu Hot can slice the ingredients very thinly and thus achieve a very positive result. For most items fresh is better. For the beef the thinly sliced frozen at Hu Hot wins. I noticed some of the guests had piled their bowls as high as they were wide. Clearly a typical American approach. Some of the beautiful fresh flavors simply cannot be appropriately combined - thus the disadvantage of the single trip approach. Compared to the Ghengis Grill, Khan will always be better. Compared to Hu Hot it's a toss up. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for months. I keep smelling it when I'm nearby. It did not disappoint! My husband got steak and chicken fried rice. I got cheese wontons and General Tso's chicken. My daughter got a bowl of angel noodles, carrots and broccoli with a side of french fries. My son got a bowl filled with fried rice, carrots, peas, green beans, pineapple, chicken, steak, bacon, and ham. All of it was top-notch. I wish I could give 3.5 stars. This review is simply based on the allergy factor. The food is freshly prepared and delivered steaming hot (so hot to scour your buds off your tongue!)... No complaints here. While the main entree cools enjoy delicious miso soup that's not too salty and prepared without seafood stock (that's a big bonus). However here's the problem: - On the laminated instruction sheet/dry erase menu you label with your name it says, "Tell your server about any allergies" I used to eat at Ginger in Macon, and they were wonderful about working with fish allergy folks like me. I know from my own experience to avoid many sauces, but they don't have labels here. The staff at Ginger also were very informative and helpful about ingredients, so I worry about diners at Khan. Ginger would cook my food in a separate pan rather than on the big Mongolian grill with the same utensils. I reminded the cooks of my allergies too. I LOVE this food and am willing to deal with minor tongue irritation, itching, a tiny bit of lip numbness and a Benadryl night (once in a blue moon & only if it NEVER gets worse than this!) This isn't the worst, but Ginger had it down to a science! I've eaten here twice and never when it's been crowded. My allergies would prevent me from eating here more often... So allergy sufferers be warned! Also, ingredients in the bar could be cross-contaminated due to seafood being in the front of the line. The same bowl is used for protein & veggies. Just went there again last week and plan to go tomorrow. I still love this place, you pick out the things you love to eat, put the seasoning, or sauce of your choice on it and have them cook it. Had lunch today for first time at this place. The ginger salad is awful. They served us potsticker burned not browned. The Mongolian stir fry was ok. It's not worth 11.99 per bowl . The bill for 2 was 38.00 for lunch. I had and issue with the bill and was explaining issue to guy at checkout and he was laughing . I didn't quite get the laughing part because when his ass goes out of business . I will get the last laugh. Don't bother too expensive !!! read more

My husband and I ate here tonight. It was really good. I had the chicken and shrimp with lots of different veggies. My husband got the steak and chicken. We both got the salad with ginger dressing and the fried rice. It was good but I wish they had more sauce choices. We felt like they weren't diversified enough. Someone on here wrote a review about how this place was better than Genghis grill in macon. We don't agree. Genghis grill has more sauce choices and there's someone that will actually tell you what tastes good or is good paired together. However this was a good change of pace. read more

This place is alright. Very tiny building, low ceilings. It was busy with a lunch crowd of 99% men, cramped, poor air circulation, big puddle of water on floor by our table. Why has no one mentioned cross-contamination of the meats? Every mongolian bbq I have ever been to, their meat has been thinly sliced & frozen...But, these meats were thawed and chicken was soupy & slimey. Bowls are small, you don't get to watch them cook it & no one is there to assist with the sauces. I had high hopes for this place, because we desperately need something different and more healthy. I decided to try it out today after briefly skimming the reviews but maybe should have read them more thoroughly. After mentioning it was my first time I was given instructions but the pricing wasn't explained to me until after I saw the sign which faces the dining room and not the entrance. Weird, as you're immediately given your tray and bowl upon entering. Anyway, I assumed it was priced by weight so I loaded up light and saw the sign after dropping off my bowl. I figured that's fine because the soup or salad that other reviewers said they got would make it shake out and the guy who came in right after me was already eating his. This restaurant is tasty especially if you know how to season and sauce up your bowl but the only thing that freaked me out was the raw meats and veggies being forced to touch because unlike other grill places they only give you one bowl here. If they gave me the option of using separate bowls I will definitely come back. Next time I come back though I will be asking for two separate bowls read more

I have had Mongolian BBQ all over the US. This was Not stellar. Staff distracted not paying attention to customers. Service was not good. Half way through lunch I finally got water, I had to ask again for something to drink! No lamb meat,fish sauce or oyster sauce.- that's odd. The shredded beef was not frozen- just in a bowel. Worrisome! The sea food meat was Ok. I think the raw meat should be colder to be safe. Ultimately the food was good. Service needs work. I hope this gets corrected. We've eaten so-called Mongolian Barbecue all over the country and this place is one of the very best. More ingredients by far than other places that usually offer only beef, pork, and chicken. Lots of vegetables and good spices and sauces. In addition to rice, they have several noodle options. Good food and good service. Highly recommended. For the record, there is no such thing as Mongolian Barbecue in Mongolia. It is not real Mongolian food but it is delicious. read more
