DO NOT EAT AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT! I witnessed an employee stop several customers who were trying to take to-go containers home. The customers had placed their leftover food into the containers after they finished eating. When the group decided they no longer wanted the containers, they left them with the employee. What happened next was extremely concerning. The employee took some of the food from those containers and placed it back onto the buffet line. I informed the employee that the food had already been handled and eaten from by customers and should not be returned to the buffet. The employee responded, "I looked at it, and it looked like they didn't touch it." I explained that it doesn't matter whether the food appeared untouched. Once food has been taken from the buffet and placed on a customer's table, it should never be returned to the serving area. Doing so is unsanitary and puts other diners at risk. Based on what I witnessed, I would not recommend eating here. This version strengthens the credibility of the review by focusing on the observed behavior and food-safety concern. read more

Husband and I went out of our way to stop here. The lady that greeted us was nice. We ordered unsweetened tea with lemon. It was so watery I could only taste the lemon. The food was not fresh. The bathroom was dirty. Don't waste your time or money. read more

Just as bad as I remember it as being! 10+ years ago my family and I would eat here. hungry and passing through I decided to stop by. The sushi is 4/10. There is the choice of something like 8 rolls. All of which are mostly rice. The seafood or other food easily packed with preservatives looks better. The only reason I could see someone coming here is (a) they're down to their last $15 and need to eat as much food as possible (b) they are driving through Macon and need something cheap to eat. Ok, I don't usually go for Chinese buffets, But this is a different story. Joe was our waiter and did a great job, he was very kind and attentive. They don't have all you can eat crab legs but you can buy by the pound for 8.99 with purchase of buffet or more per pound if you buy just legs. First the buffet is huge! I mean they have a lot of food on those bars. Great tasting shrimp and cat fish. Really good dumplings. Just plump little half moon shapes of goodness. But the star was the crab legs, these damn things were succulent and juicy, the butta mmmmmmmm god the butta! It was just the icing the crab meat needed. Just awesome, that was really nice. Was here two months ago you're average Chinese buffet.i came to get my take out at 12 pm .Now usually any buffet is one price per lb.But these MF TELL ME before I started if you get seafood it's 7.49lb .You get steak it's 6.99lb..Im like what kind shit is this.They on some new shit. After eating at number of "Hibachi Grill(HG)" style buffets, there very much like many fast food franchises, predictable. You know the usual items will be; salmon, black pepper chicken, fried shrimp or ice cream for the end. So the big differencs are the cooks on the Hibachi Grill, freshness of the items on buffet stations and the servers.This buffet suffered in two of three. First the cook on the grill was not as good as other HG cook. Very uncaring about presentation, he just create slop instead of stir fry. Second, buffet items like fried chicken looked old, pizza was soggy, crab legs small and no crawfish. Servers were okay but appeared to be angry or sound as if they were complaining in another language. Bottom-line: New China is just ok but I had better HGs in GA. read more

This is a complicated review because 1. The servers are crazy rude. 2. The food really isn't that great. 3. I still keep coming - I couldn't tell you why. Let me try to explain myself. There are so many items and I love huge buffets where I get to try everything. In reality there are probably only 4 or 5 actually good items out of like 30-40 items. The servers never say a word to you and usually they only come by once or twice to grab your plates and they are super slow with refilling drinks. They won't even smile back at you, you just feel very unwelcome and like you're an annoyance. read more

I've eaten here occasionally for years and the quality has always remained pretty good even through management changes. Despite what I've read in other reviews, the staff is usually friendly and attentive to customers. We had the pleasure of having an awesome waiter tonight named Joe. He made our entire experience awesome! The buffet has a variety of food items that is wide enough that even picky eaters can enjoy themselves. I love the barbeque ribs and their potstickers are amazing. The sushi is usually good and they have a small selection of nigiri style sushi offerings too. They offer a hibachi grill where you can build your own dish and watch it be cooked. The all you can eat crab legs and seafood is awesome. The tempura (fried) shrimp that are on the buffet and in some of the sushi rolls are sometimes a bit undercooked for my taste, but tonight the shrimp were perfect. read more

My husband wanted Chinese, so I dropped him off after picking up my food. He stayed an hour, and I picked him up. He never took any pictures, but he really enjoyed the different dishes. This is my second time coming to New China Buffet and both visits were pleasant the staff are nice, friendly and very fast asking if you want more drink or take the dirty plates away. They have plenty of entree items on the bar to choose from. Plenty of seating area for families or large parties. Also plenty of parking spots to park in where coming here to eat. I haven't tried the Hibachi grill yet but I am sure next time I will! read more

I came here once before with my husband & had an OK experience...must've been of the standard variety since I didn't leave a review. Today, Hubby wanted something from here, so I attempted to call it in. The voice on the other line was hurried & rude. He quotes a price that I know isn't right for standard take out. He says I have to come in and order from a menu. Ummm...excuse me!? There's no science to your Chinese takeout. Then, I get here, show him on his menu AND HE STILL DOESN'T GET IT INITIALLY!!! I've had worse chinese food...but not by much...and it was all in other places around Macon. The flavors were really lacking. Most of the food was incredibly bland. The temperature of the food worried me. Hot food in a buffet setting is supposed to be kept at a minimum of 140-degrees. Many of the items were luke-warm at best. This place is a breeding ground for bacteria. The patrons...wow...the patrons. I mean, I know that A) I'm at a buffet, and B) I'm down south...but I've never seen such a collection of morbidly obese people in my whole life. Just looking at the clientele alone made me lose my appetite and want to immediately join a gym and drink nothing but wheatgrass juice for the next month. Also, the neighborhood around here is sketchy and crime-ridden. Not the restaurant's fault...but still, it's something to consider when thinking of dining here. read more

I don't know what we expected. The establishment appears to be an old Golden Corral. There appears to be a great selection from hibachi items and sushi yet they all kinda taste the same. The hibachi doesn't offer any sauces to customize your mixture and the buffet has a lot of filler item like french fries, bread rolls, pizza, chicken, mac n cheese. It was like a Chinese Golden Corral - more quantity than quality. Staff was friendly but I was very disappointed when the cashier told me he couldn't take my $1 discount through yelp. Total joke of a restaurant. The hostess sat us, got our drink order, brought them to our table and asked my children's ages (3, 6 & 9). After 20 minutes or so a male checked on us. 30 minutes later a female checked on us and we asked for the check. She returned with it and rather then leaving it and walking away she stood right there and said "tip not included" as she pointed to the receipt. Then she watched my husband sign it, and repeated "I said tip not included". He responded back with "yeah I know". He stood up and began putting a jacket on our daughter, and she moved closer as if she was blocking him from walking away and with an attitude said "really no tip? You not gonna leave no tip?", Then grabbed the receipt book and shoved it in her apron, started picking up our silverware and throwing it in the glasses and snatching plates as she mumbled something where we couldn't hear her. She walked up behind us as we were walking away and said something else and when I turned around she went into the kitchen. She didn't deserve a tip by any means considering she was not who waited on us, but I do not tip on my card EVER and she confronted us angrily about a tip before we were even ready to get up. Had she given us our receipt and even stood off to the side she would have had at minimum 10% in cash on the table. Not to mention they advertise dinner as $13.99 for adults, $4.99 for the 3 year old, 6.99 for my 6 year old, and 9.99 for my 9 year old but our bill was $75 for the 5 of us to eat cold, hard food with not very much selection as everything was empty. read more

This location provided fresh food and drinks quickly. The server approached the table as soon as we seated. She provided us our drinks right away and re-filled our drinks before we finished. The Chinese food is pretty average here, but I'm giving this place five stars because this place offers a HUGE variety for an AWESOME price. Not only does it have a lot of choices for Chinese dishes, it has a made-to-order sushi bar at no additional cost (but with a voluntary tip jar), fresh oysters (at least for dinner), salad bar, all-you-can-scoop ice cream, American food, dessert bar, crab legs (maybe also during dinner?), and steak. On several holidays, they also offer lobster, which is cooked Chinese-style. Staff seems friendly, and this place is definitely kid-friendly. Don't expect fancy fine dining, because this is not that type of place. Even if the food off the buffet trays isn't your thing, the made-to-order sushi and hibachi by themselves are more than worth the buffet price. read more

This use to be the place to go, NOT ANYMORE! We were looking forward to Chinese buffet, walked in the door hand written sign said we no longer have crab legs on buffet, ok so we go a little deeper in the door, another hand written sign cash only , who keeps cash these days. That was last straw, turned to leave, saw health score 82. Never attempting to return, I bet they close soon. read more
