EXCELLENCE is the word that comes to mind when I think of Midtown East Physical Therapy (ME-PT)…read more * Convenient Midtown location. * Wide range of appointment times, from early mornings to evenings. * No long waits. * No overcrowding. * Prompt, professional, and ready to go the moment you walk in. * A team of highly skilled treatment specialists who, even after over a decade in business (and decades more of combined experience), still haven't lost their touch -- or their genuine care for every patient. Over the years -- from my younger athletic days to the effects of time catching up -- I've seen a long list of PTs. And honestly, too many of those experiences made physical therapy feel like a chore, or worse, like I was just another name on a clipboard. That changed when I found ME-PT. From the start, they gave me one clear trajectory: to be stronger, healthier, and more at ease in my body. Whatever their formula is, it works. The therapy is always precise, professional, and personal. I first came in for recurring lower back pain, but no matter what brings me through the door, they get me back on my feet fast -- and I truly believe it's because they listen and care. That makes all the difference in the world. If a medical massage doesn't fully reset and decompress my body (and it usually does), they're also one of the few practices in NYC that specialize in Fascial Counterstrain -- which consistently launches me into full-on recovery mode. Add to that their upgraded space (just a few doors down from their original location), now offering acupuncture and cryotherapy in a state-of-the-art freeze chamber... and this place just keeps getting better. The ME*PT experience truly is about "PT for ME." I've reviewed them before, and 12+ years later, they still live up to their name. No hesitation, I give them my highest and moose sincere recommendation --110%.

Never in my professional career have I experienced such a rude, unprofessional, and disrespectful…read moreinteraction from a healthcare provider. I contacted this office in a professional capacity to clarify information on a medical certification form completed by Gregory Trahtenberg, Physical Therapist. The form had been completed hastily, and his last name was written so illegibly that I could not accurately determine it. My purpose for calling was simply to obtain clarification and a fax number so that I could assist our mutual patient. When I called the number provided on the form, I was repeatedly interrupted before I could explain the reason for my call. Mr. Trahtenberg asked who I was, where I was calling from, and who I was calling for, interrupting my responses each time. When I stated that I was calling for Gregory and could not make out the last name written on the form, he immediately responded, "If you can't read, maybe you should go back to elementary school," and then hung up on me. What made this interaction even more surprising was that Mr. Trahtenberg appears to speak English as a second language. As someone who likely understands the challenges that can arise in communication, I would have expected a greater degree of patience, professionalism, and courtesy rather than ridicule and insults. This was not a personal call. It was a professional inquiry regarding documentation that he himself had completed. Regardless of the circumstances, there is no justification for speaking to another person in such a demeaning and disrespectful manner. Healthcare providers are entrusted with treating patients with professionalism, compassion, and respect. Based on this interaction, I have serious concerns about the level of professionalism demonstrated by this provider. If this is how legitimate professional inquiries are handled, I would be hesitant to trust this office with my healthcare needs. I would strongly encourage prospective patients to consider this experience when deciding where to seek care.

Dr. Danielle Santora is absolutely PHENOMENAL in every way. She is upbeat, positive, INCREDIBLY…read morewell versed in PT, solution oriented, immensely helpful each session, and an out of the box thinker who treats each session with a rare fresh set of eyes so you can actually progress. These are just a few of Danielle's attributes. I unfortunately started at the wrong pelvic floor PT at a different establishment last March after being diagnosed with PFD and as a compliant, diligent patient, each session felt like a waste of time. I would ask for more exercises, we would spend most of the time doing a lazy ILU and then after starting late (despite me being early!), we would end early. The experience became such a waste of time I bought a theragun and kept doing this same repetitive exercises. I spent 6 months trying to do more and progress and of course wasn't get better so it felt like a waste of time and money and my condition worsened despite my efforts. I knew I had to try again and did a lot of research and networking to ultimately identify and get into Beyond Basics, which I cannot stress enough is in a class of its own. I am so grateful I ended up at Beyond Basics with Danielle. No two sessions are generally alike in the sense that she's ALWAYS giving you new exercises to switch things up because you are actually making progress! She follows that progress with you and tailors your at home program around it making you not only much stronger than when you start, but you will feel better! Her upbeat spirit makes her a great coach while you move along in your journey and learn so much more than you might ever have imagined. Danielle is a wealth of knowledge who is willing to make the time to speak to your doctors and specialists and has a strong network should you find yourself in need of more help in other areas. The front desk, Patty, Jurissa, and Veronica are also lovely, warm and welcoming and most importantly are great partners when it comes to scheduling appointments. They make it easier, which is not always a given! I couldn't recommend Danielle and Beyond Basics more!

Terrible experience. Had ACL surgery and everything was going perfect until I started coming here…read morearound week 6. I was told later that they did not properly evaluate me and the work out they had me do caused damage to the new ligament. I was set back for the next 2-3 weeks but I was still trying to work with them and try to get stronger. But my last visit (about 4 visit) they had another therapist work with me that I've never met before. The main guy running it will only massage young girls or work with elderly patients. If you are 30s male with ACL injury don't expect much attention. So the therapist I've never met had me doing exercises on the wrong leg then why she realized she stopped me after 4 reps on the first set and had me switch legs doing another exercise. When I asked how should I do it and if my form was correct. She just said ok, do it like that if you want. I said "Please show me I want to make sure I'm doing it right" She mumbles something I don't know what and switched legs again. At this point another PT comes over and looks at the chart and makes a weird face and said ok, don't worry I'll work with you now. This PT is okay but I'm really confused what exercises I'm doing and on which leg because we only did like 3-4 reps of 1 set and the first PT kept changing the exercise and was confused herself. Then the main guy yells out What's the problem?! and I'm simply asking what exercises and what leg should I do at home. But he had such an arrogant and condescending attitude that I rather go somewhere else. Really not worth your time and I would not recommend. I honestly think if I had gone somewhere else my progress would be much further.

Plus there are simple homework exercises to do and the phone app makes them easy to understand and finish on a timer, for people like me who hate PT homework it's like having a trainer there doing it with you. Almost instantly she cut my pain in half and I am definitely going back to do more sessions.... each time I go in I feel better. They have a personal trainer there too (as long as there is no lockdown) so once you move out of your injury you can learn functional movement and get in top shape with someone really good, in the same location. The office is really strict about Covid-19 procedures... they have air filters, sanitize everything etc. and of course you are masked and so are they (as of 12/2020). The professionalism and compassion of Tamar is bar none but especially her manual work on the rib cage and thoracic spine is unlike anything I have ever experienced with ANY PT or massage therapist, she got my ribs to move and that adjustment reduced pain in my hips far below. Amazing!
