My husband and I have been with Dr. Yatrakis for 24 years. On a Saturday visit to his office in 1997 my husband went to Dr. Yatrakis for a "hardened testicle" Dr. Yatrikis got on the phone with a urologist and he immediately saw him that day. I was home hosting my daughters 2nd birthday and had a 9 month old boy as well. My father had accompanied him to the visit just to get out of the house. As they drove to the appointment at Overlook hospital, they discussed that Dr. Yatrakis told him, "Tom, I think this is testicular cancer and I want you to be seen today and have this taken out immediately" The urologist concurred and the surgery was scheduled for that Monday. It was in fact a malignant growth. Thankfully it was encapsulated and after several rounds of radiation he recovered without any re-occurence. Over the years we moved in and out of the state as we were corporately relocated for my husband's job. Every time we came back to NJ we went back to Dr. Yatrakis as our primary as well as other physicians who are a part of the SMG network. I work in healthcare and understand the value in seeing doctors who are a part of a network. This enables all of your doctors to see what is going on with their patients regardless of whether or not it is their specialty. That helps to manage your healthcare and overall well being. I pray that Dr. Yatrakis is not thinking of retiring because I will miss having a doctor who knows my history, and me as a person. I do not like YELP reviews for medical professions because it is really geared more toward for the food industry. People today want the ease of going to a doctor and getting what they "want" not what they "need" and when there are issues there is no one else to blame. In this climate of "kindness and respect of one another" please look in the mirror and ask yourself if your reviews are constructive or destructive.

I am attaching the confirmation photo below from ZocDoc stating that we updated my request on 6/4 for the appointment 6/6 at 2:15 PM and that they can see it was confirmed like I can see it was confirmed on both our ends. As you mentioned, I did use ZocDoc, a 3rd party provider and I have never had any other issues in all the years I have used them. Perhaps, If you have any issues with your ZocDoc and the appointments clients are making through ZocDoc you might consider not utilizing this service any further so as to not cause any problems in the future with your clients. Clients use this service and trust this services to make life easier on everyone becuaes all the inforomation for such appointments are already downloaded and stored in one place for convenience. If this service is not working for your office please don't use it so clients don't waist time going to confirmed appointments that your office does not know about. Also, the 1 star review is give is not because of any mix up between this office and ZocDoc or me changing my appointments. In under 10 sessions-most billed to my dual Medicare and supplemental, some paid by myself, I have been returned to better than I remember over the last 20 yrs. Dr Fishel and his Office manager along with a clearly skilled and concerned PT, have managed a minor miracle and I do not express this lightly. I am a life-long RN with deep understanding of anatomy. I was shown my in office x-rays which were marked up to demonstrate clearly my misalignment and what needs to be done to correct this. Follow-up x-rays will be done for comparison in short order. To date, because results were obtained and lasted through a 2 week hiatus-trip out of the country-I highly recommend this institution of wellness and honest care for wellbeing. I had a physical there in June and another visit a couple of weeks ago because I had some additional medical issues. In both of these appointments, the treatment I received from Dr. Chung was awful, and came nowhere near the standard of care one would expect from their primary care physician. Your health and wellbeing are so important - which is why it's so important that you never become a patient of Dr. Chung's. On my first visit, the annual physical, Dr. Chung spent a total of 4 minutes in the room if I'm being generous. After going through the regular PCP motions, he asked me if I had any questions or concerns about my health, of which I had a few and wanted to ask him about. But when I did attempt to ask him about each of these concerns, he rebuffed me, saying he didn't have time to address them and that I would need to make another appointment to address these issues. At probably every doctor's visit I've ever had in my life, the doctor asks if you have any further questions or concerns. Whenever I replied, all of the doctors tried to address my questions and concerns in some way - a little advice, a prescription, a referral, etc. - until this appointment with Dr. Chung. I was stunned, and I still am. So I made a follow-up appointment and had it a few weeks ago, in which I wanted to talk about 4 concerns, 3 of which I put in the notes in the request for the appointment, so that the doctor would know exactly what I was coming in for. Though I won't reveal the exact medical issues, I could've told you before the appointment that what I needed for each of them was a referral to a specialist. When I showed up to that appointment, however, Dr. Chung started the conversation by saying, "There's no way we're going to get through all of these issues. I have time for maybe 2." When I asked why we couldn't get through all the issues, he said that he just didn't have time to get through them all in one appointment. He then told me - again - that another appointment would be needed to address the other 2 issues. So, once Dr. Chung's primary goal had been achieved -- negotiating down the number of my issues he was going to address so that he could force me to have to come back and get to bill for another appointment -- Dr. Chung finally started working on what is the primary goal for every other doctor, but only the secondary goal for him: figuring out the best way to treat my medical problems. Sure enough, when Dr. Chung actually allowed me to speak and tell him about each of these problems, he quickly agreed that each issue had to be addressed with a referral to a specialist. Dr. Chung actually spent almost the entire appointment on his computer searching for the doctors in my plan's network that he refers patients to. In total, he probably spent about 15 minutes with me in the room, but it was spent searching for 3 doctors who his office apparently refers patients to all the time. On the second doctor, whose name Dr. Chung couldn't remember, I started to search myself in order to speed things up so that there would be a chance of addressing more of my issues. I found the doctor he was thinking of on ZocDoc within 30 seconds. So, despite his best efforts, Dr. Chung actually was able to issue 3 referrals instead of just 2. To add icing to the cake, one of the specialists he referred me to has moved and no longer works at the practice, so I will have to get a different referral for that one, too. For the last issue - which I guarantee will simply require a referral to a specialist - I would have to make another appointment - again, not because the medical issues need more time to address than can be fit in a single visit, but because of ineptitude with a basic computer function. Thankfully for me and my health, I will not allow him to pull the same trick again. Dr. Chung provides an unacceptably poor level of care. Whatever you do, don't trust him with your healthcare.

He is a very positive and charismatic person as well, which is especially helpful when dealing with health issues, whether physical or mental. What I truly appreciate is that he addresses concerns without judgement or creating unnecessary panic. He is always prompt, especially in really important urgent matters, even on weekends, when no one else can be reached. He's attentive, and never makes you feel rushed during appointments. He genuinely listens, explains things clearly, and approaches patients with both professionalism and compassion. Over the years he also helped me get necessary tests that were outside of the scope of regular ones. I'm very grateful to have found such an amazing PCP in nyc and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a doctor who truly cares. Busy offices might not always be perfect, there's an occasional wait here and there, because he has lots of patients, but his assistant Orlando has been very helpful, as well as other staff.
