NYC Surgical Associates - Dr Greuner

I was extremely fortunate to be treated by Dr. David Greuner for AVMs at NYC Surgical Associates…read more As someone who previously had many bad experiences with other doctors including being misdiagnosed multiple times, I'm so happy there's someone like Dr. Greuner (and the rest of the staff) who genuinely cares about his patients and listens to them not only during procedures but also prior and post. I would give this practice a 100 stars if I could.

To give just 5 stars is not enough, they deserve 100 of them. Let me tell you that I've been seeing…read moredoctors for years and got used to chronic pain as noone could fix it, but Dr. Greuner diagnosed the problem within 5min of my appointment. I had an AVM surgery. He showed me every scan of my arteries and explained everything clearly. I felt calm before my surgery only thanks to him. This is the best care and treatment you can get, not just in New York, but worldwide. I came from Europe to specially see dr. Greuner and glad I did. No wonder he is ranked as top 5 doctors in the world. He is so carrying, knowledgeable and genuinely an amazing person. The staff and dr. Tonis were so friendly and welcoming, they took the time to explain everything in detail and answered all the questions that I had. They followed up after the procedure to make sure everything was good with me before my traveling back to Europe. They don't just treat you, they make sure you leave their office healthy, pain free and with a smile on your face. I can't thank you enough how you changed my life. From constantly being in pain to being pain free, really increased quality of my life.

I recently delivered my baby at Lenox Hill Hospital and overall had a positive experience, with a…read morefew areas that could definitely be improved. The biggest highlight was the staff. The anesthesiologists were fantastic -- they took time to explain the epidural, answered all my questions, and had excellent bedside manner. My delivery nurse was absolutely amazing and made the entire experience feel calm and supported. Some things the hospital does really well: * You can have two support people plus a doula * The Northwell app lets you see medications, notes, and diagnoses in real time * You can wear your own clothes during delivery * Nitrous oxide is available as a pain option (though it's still fairly new) * The discharge education was excellent due specifically to Erin-- they even helped ensure our car seat was safely installed * The nursery was helpful when we needed rest and is fist come first serve * Bella Photography took beautiful newborn photos in your recovery room and allowed you to bring props * There's a comfortable family room for visitors The birth registration office was super helpful, they didn't put any pressure on us because we were still deciding the name, we really appreciated that. However, there were also some challenges: * Triage felt outdated and the changing area lacked privacy and seating * Delivery and recovery rooms are quite small with limited seating, having folding chairs * The postpartum unit sometimes ran out of basic supplies (linens, blankets, disposable underwear, no shower chair) * There were several instances where I requested medication or supplies and waited hours to receive it * Breastfeeding support felt discouraging rather than supportive * I was not offered a breast pump when told I wasn't producing enough milk only told you use formula * Food ordering required calling a number and sometimes waiting on hold (would be much easier through the app); the food was actually pretty good. The patient transport elevator does not work properly, it took a really long time to move between floors and when discharged it took a very long time. Overall, the clinical staff and delivery team were wonderful and made a huge difference in the experience. The nursing staff was hit or miss. With a few operational improvements -- particularly around supplies, postpartum support, and responsiveness -- this could easily be an even better experience for new families.

I always despised hospitals as having past experiences full of sorrow and grief where nothing good…read moreresults from family members and friends as patients - either your life is saved at the mercy of the doctors or your impending demise awaits. "Lenox Hill Hospital is owned by Northwell Health, the largest private employer in the state of New York." (source: Wikipedia) I visited a friend who endured a major fatal health incident and had a coronary stent implanted as a result. The care of the medical staff of nurses, nurse practitioners and non-medical staff were compassionate with empathy. My friend became stabilized and was removed from ICU to a regular hospital room crediting the doctors' immediate treatment, care and response. His life is sustained and maintained conscious, but with infinite health consequences. Every time upon exiting the elevator into patients' room floor, I usually get lost to locate a specific patient room for visiting but was properly guided. All visitors must check-in and enter through security measures of a metal detector, but do not have to remove shoes and no aggravating pat-downs. A patient and caregiver guide is available for grabs at the visitor check-in counter. Nota Bene: Visitation hours is 24/7 with a maximum of two (2) visitors at a time at the bedside. There no gift shop within the hospital, but located in the peripheral surrounding area. Lenox Hill Hospital is located in Upper East Side, Manhattan, New York City is accessible by MTA NYC Transit 6 train at 77th Street.

I don't know about you, but I've been pretty disappointed in the world lately. It seems as though…read moreall of this (:: gestures at everything ::) is being run by incompetents. I grew up thinking that there were systems in place, people in charge that would ensure the world wouldn't tumble into utter chaos...and now I've grown up to find that that is categorically untrue. There are no adults in the room. I could go on with this unrelated, unprompted tangent, but all this is to say that the Hospital for Special Surgery restored my faith in humanity. My mother needed an partial knee replacement, and as her primary helper in all things, I handled the communication, brought her to her appointments, brought her in for surgery, waited, and took her home. Please believe me when I say that every step of the process was handled efficiently, and every one of the many, many people we dealt with was not just good at their job, but they were also courteous and usually downright lovely. Having spent time in several hospitals, this was not what I expected. It was what I hoped for of course, but certainly hasn't been my past experience. From the security personnel who welcomed us to the check-in desk to the intake folks to the nurses who prepped her to the surgeon who operated to the folks who run the Family Atrium where we wait for our people to get released to the nurses who took care of my mom post-op, everyone was organized and impressively on top of things. We had a very slight hiccup with her prescriptions, and the nurse in charge was mortified and immediately worked quite tirelessly to make sure it was taken care of, and later followed up with me to make sure we were all set. I'm not pretending that this will not be an annoying and repetitive process. There is waiting involved (less than you might think though). And if you have surgery, you're going to have seventeen different people ask you who you are, your birth date, what surgery you're getting and more...but better that than them replacing the wrong knee. Best of all, the surgery went smoothly and a little more than a week out, my mom is doing great. If and when I need surgery of my own, I will gladly come to HSS.

I can't say enough great things about this hospital. They are professional, clean, pleasant and…read morethorough. Dr. Elizabeth Gausden is smart and attentive. Could not have asked for better.
