I just turned 80, and after an operation on my lower back 1 1/2 years ago, my back recently started to hurt again. My doctor suggested trying physical therapy and Ergo PT was on his list of places I could pick from and it was very close to my apartment. From the beginning, I felt cared for. The reception staff is great. They are always very helpful in setting up my schedule and changing times if I have to. They call me by my name, coming and going, and are always smiling. That always takes my mind away from what I have to do once I'm inside. Ergo tends to keep to their schedule. Within a few minutes before or after my appointment time, Brian opens the door and shows me the exercises I have to do. He keeps an eye on me to make sure I'm doing everything right. (But he doesn't worry about me when I warm up on the bicycle. He doesn't have to worry because I'm told people don't forget how to ride a bicycle.) My PT therapist is Anna. The first time I met with her she must have spend 1/2 an hour listening to me explain why I was there. After I finish the several exercises Brian tells me to do, I lie on a massage table. Anna is just excellent. She knows exactly where to rub, massage, or press on my back. By the time she finishes with me and when the soreness goes away, I feel much better. During my last visit, she found a knot in my muscle and when she pressed on it, it really hurt. When I was much much younger, a therapist working on stretching my arm after rotator cuff surgery, kept saying sorry. But she kept pulling so she wasn't sorry at all. Anna didn't say sorry. Anna kept trying to loosen that knot. She knew what had to do to help. It's been five days since then and that muscle hasn't bothered be once! When I started, my back hurt. The pain came and went as it pleased, After five weeks, the pain doesn't come very often and when it does, it's much less than before I started. I hope by the end of my series of visits, my back will hardly bother me at all. I know the care Anna gives me, I see how she works with other clients and how other therapisst care for their clients. My back was hurting me on & off for past 3 years. I finally decided to see my doctor and got an xray and it was my scapula area. She recommended physical therapy. My husband previously went to Ergo and had a good experience and recommended me there. I started going and kept to the schedule of seeing them 2x a week at least. I am proud to say today was my last day after a few months. The staff is really nice, patient, caring and really know how to take care of what you need to work on. I am kinda sad today was my last day because I actually enjoyed doing PT probably because staff is so great. Justin, Brian, Delilah are all amazing. Your individual situation and physical therapy needs are addressed with great, knowledgeable and UNHURRIED attention to detail and your progress is carefully tracked. Ron Kassob, the founder/owner, is himself a DPT with years of experience. I am currently in rehab for hip replacement surgery complicated by an extensive DVT ( Deep Vein Thrombosis) in the "surgical" leg and I absolutely trust Ron and his staff when I'm taken through range-of-motion exercises I need to regain mobility. The facility is spanking clean, with a lot of natural light through the windows, and equipment maintained in prime condition. I recommend Ergo enthusiastically and without reservations of any kind. I made an appointment last week and stopped by this past Monday, hoping to find some relief for my lower back/sciatica problems. The receptionist was friendly and efficient, and the waiting area was clean, well-lit, and a pleasant spot to fill out papers and wait to be seen. Once a physical therapist came for me, we headed back for an initial conversation. During this time I informed him of my medical history/some current complications. He was extremely apologetic, but explained that he would feel more comfortable if I sought out a type of specialist that they don't currently have there, so as to do what is best for me medically and not waste my time on something potentially ineffective. He seemed very concerned that I might be upset at not being able to start treatment with them, and of course that's why I was there, however, I have tremendous respect and appreciation for professionals who use their knowledge and judgement to give genuine advice, especially when it is not what benefits them most. He made sure that I got back my copay and prescription, and encouraged me to call him if I had any questions or needed help finding a specialist. Although I couldn't proceed with treatment at this time, I truly appreciate the professionalism of this practice. In the past I've had a hip replacement, a spinal fusion and still deal with a torn meniscus and neurological pain almost daily. In addition a elderly friend of mine who through inactivity and bad postural habits was declining far too quickly and so both of us needed to have some therapy. We initially sought out physical therapy in a different location and after the 2nd visit I told my friend we need to find another place for some days there was not even a receptionist and the therapists there were very inept and lacked the experience, skill, energy and kindness that Ergo has so much of. I then found Ergo online with great reviews (now I know why) and Ergo proved to be worlds apart from our initial experience . From the moment we walked in there is a uplifting energy 1st emanating from Gabby the receptionist at the front desk to Brian and Deleana the PT's. I knew we found our home for the next 3 months. This is a long overdued Review: Ergo was recommended to me by my home care physical therapist after my total knee replacement surgery in 2019. I have done PT in other top notch hospitals and clinics over the years. After several visits with DPT David, I can say Ergo is right up at the top! DPT David gave me an evaluation and assigned a treatment plan to help me regain strength and balance of my legs. She also gently but effectively massaged my affected leg. While they have some basic exercise machines, most of the exercises involved steps, stretching against a wall and resistance bands for strengthening, which made it easy to continue the work at home. In a nutshell: they brought me back to life!!! And they did so in four(!) separate occasions. You might think I'm some-kind of a pro-athlete or wanna-be. Sadly... I'm not, but in the past 7-10 years I've been under Ergo PT care for dislocated shoulder, broken ankle, after a knee orthoscopy. This time I came after a fall injury with a twisted back and really painful knee. On my earlier visits I worked with Ron, the owner. As one who works in healthcare, I can tell you the difference between those who are "ok" or "good enough" and those who are excellent and know what they're doing. This team, especially Ron and Jon, have a great eye to where the problem stems from, beyond the x-ray/MRI reports. This time it was with Jon. He is a magician at work! My back and knee hurt so much I couldn't breath, literally. My back shifted to the right. Within one session there was a significant improvement. If you follow his instructions you will feel the improvement too. On top of being a great physical therapist, a real pro, he is human, what we call a "mentch": Kind, patient, he listens, cares, gives right advice and always with a smile. Usually, I don't care much for the "nice" healthcare professionals, as long as they know their job. But when you work hands-on with ppl, it's important. Ron has this gift and he has the gift of hiring the right ppl. Jon is a proof of that. The whole team, from the front desk, are welcoming, pleasant and professional :Martha, Sandy - always with a smile, always helping and explaining questions you might have regarding your insurance. I bring my mother twice a week for therapy with Lauren. We've seen a significant improvement in her knee and she's able to walk better now. Brian (Therapist assistant) is also great & always gives my mom different exercises to do every time so she doesn't get bored lol... She usually sees Lauren towards the end for one of her wonderful massages! Overall, we're grateful with the treatment my mom's been receiving at Ergo's and we highly recommend. Only negative thing is- if you have any payment to make, try to bring exact change. Most of the time the reception area doesn't have any, causing me to go to the store and purchase something just to get the change, making it a tad bit inconvenient... But it's not that serious :) It's a pleasure regardless to come to Ergo... Everyone is professional, appointments are punctual & the office is clean. read more

I've never had PT before but I needed it for my shoulder. I found Ergo through Yelp. I read the reviews and they were pretty much on target. It really is a great facility. It's in a convenient location right above the Forest Hills subway in the building above the 7-Eleven. The facility is clean and the staff is pleasant and professional. My PT, Stephanie, is knowledgeable and kind. I only had a couple sessions (before Ergo closed because of the pandemic) but the introduction and sessions were good. During the introduction, she checked the range and movement of the shoulder and told me what needed to be done to get it working again without pain. Brian also helped me in the second session with stretching and was very helpful. The office is well run in setting up the appointments and informing me that the place would need to close. Even though the office called, Stephanie was very nice in calling me the day before closing to check up on my shoulder, encouraged me to keep doing the exercises and to see if there were any questions or concerns I had. i've been using the helpful exercises she gave me and will return if I need it. I am thrilled to have found Ron and his staff. I was having shooting pain in one foot and self-diagnosed via the Internet with plantar fasciitis. The very first treatment reduced my pain by a lot, like from 10/10 to 2/10. Ron noticed that my foot, and all the way up to my hip on that side, had reduced flexibility/mobility, so he has been working on that as the underlying problem in addition to relieving the pain. Found this PT office after my dr. determined that I had arthritis on my knee. I had to learn how to strengthen and loosen certain muscles. Before I came, I was in very deep pain. Now I am on my way to full mobility. However as Ron, my PT therapist keeps telling me, I have to keep up with my exercises or my body will revert to the old way and I will be in pain again. They gave me exercises to do at home so I could further implement their program into my daily workout. The staff also were able to answer all my questions. I've been under treatment at Ergo for years on and off for different problems. The reason why I kept going back was Therapist J. If I had any doubt the first time being under his care, it was not necessary. The PT assistants there were very helpful. However, all these changed at my last treatment. During initial evaluation, I was shocked to hear Therapist J stating that nowadays insurance does not approve as many visits as it used to and I should let him know what my goal is within the time frame of insurance paying for treatment. When patients committed financially with their time to recover, the last message they want to hear is therapists can just do that much within the limit of insurance and patients should set a goal themselves accordingly. Is it a common sense for medical professional or anyone to know that patients' goal is always full recovery? What's worse is manual PT or massaging which was a complete joke. Therapist J barely touched my problem area. When I asked him a question, he stopped touching problem area, and beat around the bush or just acknowledged with "yes" without providing any explanation/helpful insights, then "completed" manual PT. While PT assistants C and R are quite helpful and pleasant to work with (hence adding 2 stars to the review), assistant B is ignorant and cold. Unfortunately the conversation I had with another patient confirmed my experience was not an isolated case. I'm under treatment at a different PT facility now. Manual therapy is great and people I work with do not rush me and I feel a good work out after the treatment. What a difference! read more

After a nasty fall on the ice this winter, I needed rotator cuff surgery. I had complete trust in my doctor, but felt completely as ease with going through with the surgery because I knew I would be going to Ergo Physical Therapy for my recovery. Not only is the owner (Ron Kassab) the most intelligent man I have had the pleasure of knowing, but his sincere and genuine care and concern for his patients comes through on the first meeting and every meeting thereafter. We had a problem getting a referral because our pediatrician wasn't familiar with our new plan. No worries, Ergo's staff took charge and made the calls needed and my daughter is now back on the softball field :)) Another thing that impressed me about Ergo was the way they come up with fun ways for kids to do their therapy. I will never forget walking in and seeing a kid playing a wii game. After watching, I realized that this was his therapy, and I thought to myself....how clever is this guy!!! i highly recommend Ergo and specifically, the Physical Therapist who made it possible for me to walk and climb stairs again, pain-free, Louise Escobar, DPT. I signed up on March 2nd and had pain in both knees when I walked and climbed stairs. I had little ability to balance and could barely move after years of debilitating asthma and weight gain. Now, I can climb subway stairs without any discomfort at all, I can walk effortlessly (8 miles in NYC and it seemed pretty easy) and I have my balance back and have built up my core muscles. I have to say that after going for these treatment at several places through NY this is without a doubt THE best physical therapy place I have ever been to. I get the feeling now that the previous spots where just mills designed to collect co-pays while you rot away in some exercise equipment. Ergo physical therapy is by far one of the most unprofessional, disorganized offices one can ever go to. The front desk is awful, all they do is joke around and not pay attention to clients. The girls gossip about patients out-loud and show absolutely no respect for the patients. I cannot believe the behavior of these employees. Ergo is Money hungry to say the least. Physical therapists are seeing over 50 patients a day, patients barely person time with the therapist.
