Eventually, my physical therapist kept recommending Pilates to me, and I searched the area for a Pilates instructor who could help me. I called Mercy around June 2023, and Mercy replied that she has worked with individuals with mild to severe conditions and believes she could help me. Although I was reluctant to trust any form of exercise, after two months of pilates sessions with her ONLY once a week, I started noticing more significant changes to my abilities, which was not getting changes from physical therapy. Mercy works on your WHOLE body; it's a holistic approach to bringing your body the best stability so you can do what you want and move how you need to. I've noticed many changes and learned many things about joints, my nervous system, etc. This is also coming from someone who experiences nerve pain, which is I'm sure if you experienced, not fun at all. Lost: 20.2ibs Lost: 4.4% body fat Lost: total of 16 inches Not everyone's results may turn out the same as mine, as we all have different health, body types, frames, and what drives/sparks us to a healthy path. But getting results overall depends on your determination on going to the gym every day or according to whatever your training plan is, staying committed to the diet or meal plan, your mindset, and putting in the effort consistently while not falling back into any previous bad habits. But safety is key, that is #1! Know your limits and where you feel improvement is needed. And know when your body needs to pause to not overstrain yourself.

Right away, I noticed the tight-knit camaraderie. There's a strong sense of community that honestly feels even more connected than other group fitness gyms like F45. As a first-timer, I felt welcomed from the start. The energy is on another level. The headset mic system helps amplify coaching across the large floor space, making the session feel clear and high-energy. Coach Brenden's shout-outs during the workout were electric--you could tell everyone was feeding off it. After class, Kim at the front desk was incredibly helpful--she walked me through a tour and went over my InBody results in detail. That kind of individual attention isn't something you always get, and it really stood out. My wife joined me for the class too (she had to rush out early since she works in Menlo by 6:30 AM), but we were both impressed by the vibe and professionalism. On a personal note--I've admired Brian Nunez from afar since meeting him a couple of times back in the 2006-2008 Club One / Active Sports Club days. It felt full-circle finally stepping into the space he's built. He's become a truly respected leader in the fitness industry, and FNS absolutely reflects that vision. As someone turning 40 this year, raising a 4-year-old and a teen, and down 70+ lbs since April 2024, fitness isn't just about reps for me--it's about reclaiming my life. I mostly take the group fitness classes but they have many other amenities such as open gym, an InBody Scanner, recovery room, and more. I can foresee myself staying at FNS for a long time and look forward to future results ;)

Before 3fit, I used to find working out boring. 3fit workouts are always different and engaging and you don't realize how the time flies. I look forward to it each time. I learned to climb a rope, climb over a wall, keep my joints flexible, do a bar hold for a minute and do my very first push-up at 3fit. The community is great and we also meet outside of the gym to play pickleball which is a lot of fun. I was amazingly impressed with how she did the assessment and pointed out all of my problems through my movements, and told me how to train to improve them and my back conditions (I have a long history of severe back pain). We focused on all the basic techniques first, the first few sessions were all about how to engage the core and breathe right to make sure I work out safely. These are essential for all sport training, but also significantly important for people with bad back like me. Gwen's workouts are challenging but super fun to do. She always listen to how my body feels to make necessary adjustment. I have passed the period of mobility focus and now working more on the agility workouts. My back has been great, and after the first few months of moving slow, I started seeing steady results. I took a Dexa scan at the beginning to know where I was at, and now taking it every 2 months to keep track of the results. While my lean mass has increased a bit slowly, I have drop quite a good amount of fat mass, and my bone mineral is higher. If you are looking for a trainer, I highly recommend Gwen, she is a perfect match for any training needs but even more so for people with injury and training limits.
