Got an estimate for oils and filters to be changed on my new/old '92 Sea Ray 500 Sundancer. The estimate was very high but they assured me that it would cover any contingency. The trouble started when I noticed that the racors fuel filters had not been changed and a belt on the genet had not been changed. When I brought this to their attention they would not admit to the possibility that they had made a mistake; would not even discuss it as a potential issue. Next they suggested that they change oil in the V-drives and I, unfortunately agreed. When the bill came in it was approximately $3000 for what am mounted to oil and filter changes on 3 engines - twice the initial estimate. I sent a number of emails asking for relief and got nowhere. I asked other, reputable mechanics to quote on the work actually done (including v-drive oil, etc. and they quoted around $1500 for all of the work - half of what KWES charged. In my opinion, any non-local should stay away from these very bad predators. Again, my opinion is that they didn't do all of the work they charged for, did shoddy work on the rest and simply doubled the price because once the work was done, I had no recourse. read more
