Beware. My experience with this company was extremely disappointing. I called Key One Locksmith on a Tuesday for a broken door lock. They responded quickly, which I appreciated. The technicians were courteous, but unfortunately they did not appear to know how to properly repair the issue. They spent approximately three hours working on the lock. In the end, they told me they had to loosen the entire door handle assembly to get the lock working temporarily and recommended replacing the entire handle, explaining that it would be very expensive. I was charged $1,227.45 for labor only--no replacement parts were installed. Although I wasn't happy with the price, I was relieved the door could at least lock. Unfortunately, by the very next day, the lock had failed again. I contacted Key One Locksmith and was told they couldn't return until 3:00 p.m. the following day, which wasn't an option for our business. I then called Lee's Lock & Safe in Encinitas. Their technician, Jon, arrived promptly, identified that the previous repair had been done incorrectly, corrected the problem, and had the lock working properly. His total charge was $274.75, which I found to be much more reasonable for the work performed. Afterward, I called Key One Locksmith to discuss my concerns. I was transferred to someone named John, who initially identified himself as a manager. Instead of addressing my concerns professionally, he became argumentative and raised his voice. When I asked to speak with his supervisor, he stated he was actually a technician, questioned how I had obtained his number, made what I felt was an inappropriate comment referencing me as a woman, and then hung up on me. My biggest concerns are: Being charged $1,227.45 for a repair that failed the next day. The quality of the work performed. The unprofessional customer service I received when I attempted to resolve the issue. I want to recognize Lee's Lock & Safe in Encinitas for their professionalism. Business taken over (?) sold out (?) and new business name, QuicKey Lock Smith. Number listed was answered by Ron, who scheduled me for a few hours out. Not sure if there was a cancelation or what but got a call back to reschedule sooner which worked out great with me. Ron arrived and promptly went to work to fix the situation we were dealing with. The entry lockset for our front door stopped working correctly, so I called Key One and explained the problem. Nick came promptly and hoped the lockset could be repaired with new springs. When he removed the hardware, it turned out that would not fix our problem, so he returned the next day with new hardware. That solved our problem, and did so in a way that minimized any repainting of the door. Nick was very generous in charging us just the service call price he had quoted for one trip (though he had come twice), plus the cost of the new lockset. I hesitated writing this review. My home warranty, OneGuard, contacted this company to change my locks. They created the work order and everything. I had no say in who they choose or anything. Gordon contacts me less than 24 hours before he's supposed to show up and asks me to contact them for the work order. He can't be bothered to do it. I have to do the leg work. He needed a work order to get paid. I get that. Again, how is this my problem?? He needed to contact the warranty company since I have zero to do with work orders. But I reached out to them, doing the job he was supposed to do. He just didn't want to because he saw it as some twisted "favor". It's not a favor if you're getting paid. Why? Because he didn't even want to deal with OneGuard to begin with. How do I know this? Because Gordon felt the need to take out his frustrations on the warranty company on me. I'm just the customer who wanted her locks changed. I had no idea all of this behind the scenes drama was going on. So rather than act professionally, he takes it out on me rather than my warranty company. In the time he spent arguing and being unprofessional, he could have emailed OneGuard for the work order. Again, he decides to take out these frustrations on me. I don't know if he's paying for these good reviews but he's completely rude and unprofessional. Just bought a 2007 Mustang on 10/30/23 and it only came with 1 transponder key. Wanted a second key as a backup in case I would loose one. We bought a 1959 house with nine vintage door locks that required a rich mix of keys. After reading the Yelp Reviews, I called Key One. The locksmith arrived on time, surveyed the situation, gave me an estimate, changed all the locks to the same key, replaced some door knobs and other worn parts. and re-worked a couple of the doors so the locks would function properly. One door in particular was almost beyond redemption, but he sorted it out with an ingenious fix. He made me twelve new keys while he was here. He was professional, friendly, efficient, and effective. I had just had a TERRIBLE experience with an on-call locksmith, and was SO happy to find Key One via their stellar reviews on Yelp. I can't rate them highly enough! Nick answered the phone personally and very professionally; made an appointment for the next day; arrived punctually in a branded van; and had my lock fixed in 15 minutes or less. He then checked all my locks, and rekeyed things so that I now need only 1 key - instead of 3 - to access my home, from any door. At my request, he also evaluated my locks on the main house and helped me figure out what kinds of options I have to replace some/all (though not at all pushing a sale). He said to keep the oldest one since 'they don't make them like that any more!" (my house was built in '37), and suggested ways to update others.
