It would have been nice if she had told me they were shutting down before taking my pants in for hemming. Now I'm not sure what to do. This place is great! It's really quick and efficient. I don't come for the service at all since there's definitely a language barrier. I quickly told her what I wanted and got it back timely. I brought my jackets in to add an elastic band to my jacket cuff. I got quick measurements and was out quickly. I also got the velcro on my jacket fixed. The prices are very reasonable. I really, really wanted to like this place. And I'm not complaining, I'm doing this to warn others. I'm short, so I needed to find a tailor to hem lots of pants. They have very good rating on Yelp. I had 5 pairs of pants hemmed for $10 each and the result was terrible. The hems are crooked and the stitching is not smooth. She stretched out the jean and stitched so when you let go of it, the seam is bumpy and crooked. I hate leaving bad reviews, but I would be very careful if you go there and explain in detail what you want and the result you're looking for. Sadly, I won't return. read more

I had a great experience at Kevin's Tailoring. I did a walk-in on a Monday needing alterations with a canvas overalls. The length and width of the legs were just too large so I had them altered to my body shape. The alteration costs $25 and they stated they'll finish on Friday. I dropped by Thursday and they were already done. I am satisfied with their work. They needed to reduce the width by 2 inches each leg and shorten the length by 2 inches. Finishing stitching is solid and secured. Great service and results. read more

I will never go to this place ever again to get anything hemmed or fix. First, when I got there, she didn't have my dress ready so I had to come back for it. So when I came back to get my dress, she messed it up. See attached photos. I came here needing a wedding dress tailored. I pulled up on a Monday and was greeting the seamstress at the front. She seemed to be working on something so I just wanted it to be straight to the point with what I needed to get done. She looked posses as if I came in and bothered her. It was only 9:15 am on a Monday? She asked what I wanted and I immediately wanted to turn around and walk out. But I didn't. I told her what I needed done and she just threw out $90. For a simple gown to get hemmed. I'm only 5'5 but this dress was on a 6' 2 model or something so I needed quite a bit hemmed off. No smile just frowns and says $90. Damn, I was not expecting that at all. Bad customer service and hella expensive I really hate writing reviews because I feel that these kinds of businesses are a dying breed and we need more of the seamstresses/ tailors in the world. But it really was a horrible interaction and I wouldn't recommend you to come here at all. read more

Even though this is not next door to where I live and travel from the peninsula south to this Santa Clara location, it is well worth it. I'm glad that I have found a reliable place to get my clothes tailored. I had a wedding to attend and Lo and behold my suit didn't fit anymore and had to get them tightened up a bit. Since I had to make a trip anyways, I thought I'd bring a few more pieces to get fixed. Within a few days for turnaround time all my clothes fit real great and stitching was all tight and neat. I really don't like to leave negative reviews if possible, but this was the worst experience I've ever had at a tailor. I called in earlier to see if they take measurements for couture dresses and the said they did. These require at least 15 different specific measurements. When I arrived, I had a form of the specific measurements required that the designer needed to fabricate the dress. They also required it in cm. The tailor would only take them in inches and then refused to take measurements other than the hip, waist and bust and stated that any professional tailor would not need more. I tried to explain to him that this was required by the designer before they started fabricating the dress. He then started screaming at me stating that any good tailor would only need these measurements and that if I don't want to listen to him, then he would not work with me. In the end, this was a complete waste of time. The tailor could not even accommodate a simple and polite request to take measurements in the units required without screaming at the customer. I would highly recommend taking your business elsewhere. As a side note, you might not be able to tell from the reviews but this is a super hole-in-the wall location. I'm sure the prices are probably cheap, but I would not expect quality work for tailoring that requires any detail or communication. Perhaps an easy hem is fine but I wouldn't go to them for anything that requires any greater communication. read more

I brought in two pairs of jeans that were too long on me and needed to be hemmed. I asked if they could be done earlier and the lady was able to get it done when I needed them by. I told her how many inches I wanted off for each and she delivered. The stitching wasn't bad either! It cost $10 per pants to get hemmed with just a regular hem stitch at the bottom, so a total of $20 for two! Prices are reasonable, I recommend them! read more

Kevin's tailoring is absolutely amazing! I tentatively brought in my Army Service Uniform last week because I needed some emergency tailoring before an important ceremony this week. At the time, I was worried because this was a small shop in the silicon valley, most likely without much experience tailoring Army uniforms. The pricing was extremely reasonable and turnaround incredibly fast. I was surprised today to find that my uniform was absolutely perfect. The tailors were able to adhere to the stringent standards required of army uniforms, and everything fit great on my extremely small frame (5'2"). I dropped off my Army Combat Uniforms today to have my name tapes sewn on, and I'm sure that they will do a great job. read more

I had purchased a pair of astronomically priced "they make my ass look hot" jeans. I used Yelp to help find a decent tailor close to my neighborhood and it resulted in the second time that Yelp failed me (Mongolian BBQ was the first). I almost cried when I saw what $12 original hem alteration did to my ass modification jeans. I should have known that $12 was too cheap to be good. When the lady asked me, "Is this okay?" I understood that they were a small business and their sewing machines were considerably older than me so I didn't say anything. Inside I was beyond belief yet there wasn't much I could have done at that point so why ruin her day? The hems were crooked and the seams were unaligned. It was obvious that they hacked off the hems and non-discreetly attached them on. Perhaps try this place out if you want something simple done because you certainly can't beat the price; if you want to see your $200 plus jeans butchered, this is a good place also. read more

With that said, Kevin's Tailoring has proven to be trustworthy and well worth the money. The owner, whose name I assume is Kevin, has taken great care of all my clothes. I started off with a few button-down shirts to test the waters and the end-product was great. The quality of Kevin's work remained great when I brought in some dress pants. Afterwards, I felt confident enough and brought in one of my suits to slightly shorten the arm sleeves as well as getting my vest fitted properly. Let me say this was the first time I have anything tailored and I still expect a little better. I went here to get my suit altered, it was much too long in the pants and just needed to be shortened. I walked in and the guy just said to try it on so I did and came out and showed him. He seemed nice and noticed only the pants needed to be tailored and that everything else fit nicely. Then he just marked one side of the pants which let me sort of puzzled since I needed both sides done. Just one little chalk mark on the entire pair of pants, it seemed a tad puzzling to me. After that they said I could pick it up by noon tomorrow, I guess at least they do fast work. It was cheap too, I left only having to pay $7 so I thought it would be a good deal to get the pants done for such a cheap price. I also mentioned to the lady who took my money that this was for a very special occasion, she just nodded and didn't seem to care. When I returned the next day they took a second to find my pants and just handed them to me, never asking me to try them on to see if it was what I wanted. Having never been to a tailor before I just took the pants and went home to try them on. I was pretty disappointed with the end result. I figured they would give a tad more care and time to the pants but they did pretty much what I thought and did a sort of half assed job. Sure they pants were not terrible but they were also nothing special. At least the ordeal only cost me $7 and 10 minutes of my time. The pants came out really short, much shorter then the mark he made the day before. Lucky for me I have a friend in the family who knows how to sew and she took out the work they did and was able to make the pants look fantastic, it took her about an hour to do the job. Look, they have a cheap price so I suppose you get what you pay for. I wouldn't most likely go back again now knowing how they work there. I've been going here for as long as I can remember. I've tried other places when I moved around, but no one is as good and as cheap as this place. It's worth the drive. I've taken off the wall things to them to fix, like a zipper on a purse of mine that broke. They've hemmed my pants for $7 dollars, fixed tears and holes for $2 dollars, and replaced buttons on jackets that fell off. The lady who works there is not only super nice, but she always does a great job! Sometimes there can be a loose thread now and then, but they always fix it when I take it back for free. They've also told me when I didn't have money, that I could pay next time. They've even recommended me to places when they couldn't fix things (if they were too small for their machine).
