DOUBLES the price / Mean& condescending attitude / prejudice against student or Asians. I went to fix a computer last year and thought this comment could prevent other customers from being mistreated, especially if you are a college student or Asian. First of all, the owner literally DOUBLES the price after he fixes the computer. Our computer got water in it. The first day we went there, we asked for a quote, he said it would be about $100 for a basic cleaning of the inside, which is a reasonable price. But if the hard drive broke, it could cost much more. We accept it. The next day, someone else called us and said the computer was ready, the hard drive was good, he did the basic cleanings and the computer worked fine, and said the price would be $220. I told the person yesterday Kevin gave me a quote of $100, this person put Kevin through the line, and he responded with very rude attitude, saying: "I never said that". RIDICULOUS. From what I read in the comment, he even fixes small things for free for others but doubles the price for us? Was it because he thinks Asians are rich and easy to make money from? Just a guess. Second of all, very mean attitude. He's very condescending to customers, especially to us. After he found out we were college students, he started whining about how stupid college students were that we broke the computer by spilling water on it and then starting the computer again. We told him it was not us, someone else did it to our computer and he's still whining about it, indicating that we are stupid. Not sure where his anger comes from. There is also another old nice lady who's picking up her computer. Her computer does not have a camera so she said her husband bought one on Amazon. Kevin's reaction after she said so is: "this is TRASH." Dude... It seems like he needs to feel superior by belittling others who do not have the same knowledge in an area as he does. With the fact that a lot of other comments said he's nice, but he DOUBLES the price and talks down to us, it's hard not to think he hates Asians or college students. What an absolute nightmare of a business. We gave a company computer to these people two days ago to install two drives and a raid card. They said it'd be done in a couple of hours. That seemed reasonable to me; it's about 45 minutes of work; if I wasn't on the other side of the country, I'd do it myself. I tried to call just to ask what was going on. I got *shouted* at, repeatedly, like I'm doing something wrong to just ask. It's a company machine; my staff can't work. They said this would be done day before yesterday. Maybe something more serious is wrong; I wanted to find out. Is that so wrong? Now on the phone they're rambling about "the computer is CRASHING" but they won't say what's wrong. They're insisting that something is wrong with the motherboard. When I say "please stop interrupting me and put Kevin on the phone," they swear at me, say they're frightened of me, and stop answering the phone. Mind you, it's Kevin himself doing most of the swearing and hanging up. I am really unhappy that my staff member chose this weird little fly by night company when there's legitimate computer repair services all over the country, where you can stay on the phone long enough to ask the question "what is the status of my repair?" Kevin, in particular, keeps hanging up on me every time I ask what the status of the machine is, and why it's two days out. I have already been hung up on eleven times. I do not yet know the status of the machine. The job they agreed to do two days ago, same day, is a half hour job. I've been sworn at. All I wanted to know was why we were two days into a same day We have decided to go pick up the computer and take it back. It's March, and they still have their January hours on their phone message. I've been doing business on and off with these people for 15 years, because I lived where their old shop was. I just bought parts, because I'm a nerd, and I can do my own labor. But now that I've sent one of my staff in for help? Never again. Apparently being a customer for 15 years isn't enough to just ask "hey, what's going on with this machine?" without being shouted over non-stop. I was asking to not be interrupted every 60 seconds. Then when I said "okay, well, I guess neither of my businesses are coming back," I got told I was threatening them Threatening them with a lack of future business? Well. Okay then You can do better. I know it's hard to find people in this city, but we've gone on to someone else, who straightened us out by noon same day. read more

This was my experience. Take it for what it's worth. A few years back i took an iMac to him because it was no longer booting up and i needed the data off of the hard drive. He got it off and onto an external drive for nearly $400. The external drive was a very, and i mean VERY cheap looking and feeling drive encased in white plastic and looked like something you'd find in a cracker jack box. That should have been my first clue. I took it home and hooked it up and there were my files. So far so good. But let me say right here, had i known what was about to happen, i would have immediately dragged the files off of it and onto my new iMac. But hey, it's a "brand new" external drive. Why would i have such a thought? About a week later i went to see if i could find a particular file i was looking for and the disk was there on my desktop and i was able to find the file. A few days later when i was ready to copy the files onto my new iMac hard drive, the disc isn't showing up on the desktop. I reboot. Nothing. I use a different cable. Nothing. I use my laptop. Nothing. I buy a new cable. Nothing. I try every suggestion anybody could think of. Nothing. I call Kevin to find out why this is happening. He says bring it in he'll look at it. So I did. After nearly three weeks of having it with no message from him, i call and he tells me there's only one...ONLY ONE...company that can fix this issue and it will have to be sent off to them and this will cost around $1000!! Yep...you read that correctly. One THOUSAND dollars. This, AFTER nearly $400 to supposedly retrieve them the first time. He says this kind of drive is notorious for this kind of thing, to which i want to scream, "THEN WHY WOULD YOU PUT MY DATA ON IT TO BEGIN WITH????" Then he suggests that perhaps there was a power outage or perhaps i had unplugged it mid-transfer, neither of which had happened. Bottom line, nothing could be done. My files were irretrievable and rather than refund me the nearly $400 for the cheap, notoriously bad hard drive he had chosen to put my files on, i get zero refund, no files, and the absurd suggestion that i need to send it off to this one lone company that can fix it for a mere thousand dollars. I must have "STUPID" emblazened on my forehead. The service was ridiculously slow, no communication as to what was going on without me calling and asking, no solution to make me walk away without feeling like i had just been taken to the cleaners. As i said, this is just my experience. You guys use him if you want. A side note; be very careful when you walk into the place that you don't trip and fall over the hundreds of computers that are lying everywhere. It doesn't exactly instill confidence. COMPLETE SCAM. i went here and was charged $300 for my pc power cycling- it took them 2 WEEKS- YES WEEKS- to "fix" it and didn't communicate anything with me at all about the status or what was wrong with it until I got to the shop. Then the funniest part is they say they 'reseated' the parts and that it works now and charged me $300 for that... I go home and plug it in and it doesn't work and is doing the same thing. I was looking for a repair shop that not only fixes computers but that recovers data from flash drives. I had a flash drive that broke where the stem was bent and I was worried I would lose all my data where all my files would be gone because I could not find a way to put it in my computer to open anything since it was already bent but I took it into Kevin's photo and computer shop in Greenfield after trying numerous places where they could not fix it or help me at all such as Best Buy Geek Squad and UBreakIFix. A friend of mine recommended Kevin's Computer and Photo being the best place to go to take something broken with electronics in and that person was right. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a lady named Karen (I believe that was her name) at the front desk and she was so nice. She also has an emotional support dog there greeting people. I then told Kevin about my flash drive and had him look at it. He looked at it and was confident he could fix it if I left it in. He had to open my flash drive for it to work and whatever he did, it def worked! It was probably some soldering or whatever you call that term when you open up a flash drive to get near the chip to take most of it apart. Anyway I was very impressed and even though it was a little expensive paying a little over $200.00 for this, it was absolutely worth it! Kevin fixed my flash drive that was bent by recovering data from it onto a new flash drive and I got all my files back! He fixed it and recovered the problem and took his time too with looking at it unlike other techs who would just rush or not be able to figure out how to fix something. My only cons are if you are in a rush and need something fixed right away within a day or can't leave it overnight, that is the only problem because Kevin is very busy and not always around. It takes time to get to something but that's not a big deal at all because it got done within a reasonable amount of time due to it being a day before Thanksgiving weekend when I took it into the repair shop. Also my other only small complaint is when you walk in the repair shop, there's lots of clutter on the floor and less space where it's crowded for so many people to have room to walk in or even one person to have room to stand while waiting. Also if you get there, sometimes no one is around in the repair shop and can be closed even during business hours because sometimes Kevin and his receptionist would step out where you are expecting it to be open. Other than having to wait a while to get something fixed, the clutter making it unorganized with not much room to walk in, and sometimes the place not always open where at unexpected times having to wait for someone to get back to the repair shop to be around, other than those small issues service wise it is excellent!!! The 3 constructive criticism of things I mentioned are small and not even too big of a deal because all that mattered was they did the job, were professional, and they were very kind/courteous to customers treating them like family. There's way more positives with this place. It seems like Kevin can fix anything even if it seems impossible to fix. I am very happy in general which is what matters and I will definetely be back giving Kevin my business again if something of mine needs fixed like a flash drive or computer because it's hard to find someone that knows how to recover files or getting just any tech to be able to fix things with the knowledge Kevin has. Other places who do that would charge way more too but even if I had to pay to get this done, it was well worth it and Kevin was the best. Other technicians would give you the runaround or give up to fix something like that. I was glad I was able to get my files back because the Geek Squad at Best Buy told me it was unlikely or they will charge more than $200.00. I recommend going to Kevin if you really need something fixed that involves technical stuff! Like I said earlier, if it wasn't for the mess being crammed in like sardines when you walk in and if there were more staff to stay open during normal business hours with having to depend on someone to be there at all times without being closed at an odd time due to someone not there, I would give this place 5 stars but for service otherwise, it's a great experience for me being worth waiting for weeks to get something fixed there that not too many places in Pittsburgh do. If you are someone that expects the store to stay open during normal business hours and have to pick up something that same day, you are better off calling to make an appointment or make sure someone will be there at the repair shop otherwise you may have to wait outside for someone to open up. I hope nothing ever breaks of mine again or that I don't have any more problems with computers or flash drives but if I do, this is the first place I will give my business again to! About a week ago I sent in a message to Kevin's computer and photo and asked if they were able to fix my computer. They said that they would be able to and they gave me an estimate before they had even seen my computer. Fast forward a week, I had heard nothing about them looking into my computer & I had called a couple times and they still haven't had time to look at my computer. I was given no notice about the amount of leeway that they would've needed to actually check my computer because they were "so busy". Today I picked up my computer and brought it to another person. A month ago my laptop decided to stop charging or running on AC. Rather than actually repair my computer - he cleaned it and told me it was dirty....so it was not "fixed" - he also broke a piece off of the case....after that, it kept turning off periodically. I found out myself that the battery was not holding a charge, and got a new battery....the plug does not seem to connect internally now (right beside where he broke off a piece of the case!!!) and it is hard to get the machine to run on AC consistently as it just does not stay in place apparently. I paid him $160 to clean the machine and damage it. Yes this was a few months ago - but I just FOUND this site to leave a review!!!! NOT real happy with this service!!! read more
