Needed to have a bathtub refinished in a rental we were leaving; the fiberglass surface layer had cracked and bubbled, and a self-applied patch looked awful. The first company we checked with wanted to charge us what a new bathtub would have cost; ouch! Fortunately, we found Kevco, who came out and performed a full refinish for little more than half what we might have paid had we gone with "the other company." In addition, the technician was courteous and friendly, understood what we needed, and was conscientious in protecting the rest of the bathtub from overspray. After another contractor ghosted me and failed to show up for a job I reached out to Kevco Refinishing. Kevin gave me a call right away, fully understood the scope of the job, and was able to get the job scheduled and completed within 2 days (at a price lower than the ghost-contractor quoted). The day of the job, Kevin did an amazing job, and took extensive time to prep the work area, and tape off fixtures and protect surrounding components and areas with plastic etc. He even disassembled the shower door to make sure the job was done right, and he didn't leave behind seam-lines. He was friendly, helpful, a professional ...and skilled at his craft. The final product looks amazing!! And gave the home a whole new feel. Kevin returned my call the same day and came out a few days later to reglaze my kitchen sink. I chose a custom grey color, he showed it to me before he applied it, and it came out beautiful. Please read entire review. Two-star rating is based on communication, not work performed. Kevco Refinishing refinished my bathtub in 2015 as part of a remodeling job performed by another contractor. I've been happy with the work (no complaints about the refinishing work - I believe the work held up well for a good many years), but the tub has begun to chip and peel and needs to be refinished again. I made contact with Kevin on 2/4/22, and he asked that I text photos for his reference; I did. On 2/7/22, via text, he provided a quote. I said "okay" and asked his availability. He asked what city I am in. I responded "Vacaville." On 2/19/22, having heard nothing further, I sent a follow-up text asking about availability, followed-up by at least two messages left 3/4/22 and 3/24/22, and an email sent 3/18/22. I was finally able to contact Kevin by phone on 4/4/22, whereupon he again asked where I am located and when I reminded him I am located in Vacaville he told me he doesn't go to Vacaville! (He said that the contractor must have convinced him to go to our home back in 2015.) I am deeply disappointed that it took TWO MONTHS to find out that Kevco Refinishing will not perform the work. I understand that the business gets to decide what work they will perform, and accept that this owner operator does not wish to travel to Vacaville from Antioch; however, I note that the information provided by the business owner under Meet the Business Owner on the Yelp website - even as of this date (4/25/22) states that this business serves "Contra Costa, SOLANO, and Alameda Counties" (emphasis added), and I think it would have been more professional (and courteous) to have told me in February that he was unwilling to travel to my location. read more

Went from a Salmon pink tub and tile, which was here when we moved in, to a white, and what a difference, so beautiful with the shine and luster it has, and the quality is great. We had a chip accidently from our remodel, and Kevin came back out when he was in the area, and scheduled a time to fix it. Great service. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. Horrible Service. Kevin didn't show up for the first appointment. I rescheduled and he refinished two shower pans. The coating started to peeling due to poor preparation. Had to call Kevin multiple times to have him come out to fix the coating. He finally came out and said the coating was out of warranty and charged me $150 to touch up a small area. His attitude is poor and his customer service is horrible. There are better companies out there to do business with. read more

In response to the owner who wrote me. It was not from any pipes that broke-those were all intact. My plumber specifically said it was due to the broken dishwasher vent. The masking tape that you put was so tight it did break from the top, and I did call you in the beginning once or twice to let you know only because at first you had removed all the tape EXCEPT the one around the vent,so I was not sure if I could remove it yet and called you for that at first actually. I never received any call backs,so I gave up and removed it myself which it was tightly wound. When I removed the tape I discovered that it was broken on top and maybe the tape was to secure it. However, I thought it was just broken on top(piece was broken) and I agree it was my fault not to think it was broken on the bottom where the water would gush down-I thought it was just some plastic that came off but it still worked. BTW, the stuff under my sink could not reach that high to hit the dishwasher vent's bottom,so I know that did not break anything-mainly soap bottles, and little bottles. So true after the plumber discovered that it was from the vent, I did not call you after again since I never received a response before just asking if I could take off the tape,so I did not bother thinking time had passed and you would either not respond or say that it has been too long and what would you do to remedy the situation-pay the repair bills,or for the new cabinet? I doubted that highly so I just said forget it-lesson learned-never redo my sink,just get a new one! BTW,the cast iron sink is white on the outside but chipped it is grayish black under the painted surface-meaning it was chipping quickly. I hired you,but was not sure that it would really work for long,and I thought it to be a temporary fix,but I figured it would last a little longer than it did! So the graying was not from a dirty sink which would be upsurd and actually insulting-because I clean the sink everyday after the dishes are done-doesn't everybody do that!? Anyway, I am not THAT upset only because now I have an excuse for my husband to get a brand new sink and cabinets to go along with it! I LOVE my new kitchen! BUT if I had to live with it or did not have the money to get a new cabinet/kitchen,etc then I would be sorely upset so that is a warning for others just in case. The broken dishwasher was just wound too tight with the masking tape and I remember he put a fan in that same spot on my sink so that may have broken it as well and the tape was covering the damage done and maybe that was why it was the only tape that was NOT taken off after the job was done-suspicious! I have used the KevCo a couple times. I should say that results were different in both times. I think first time it was better since, I mentioned him, I will use his service again if the result is good. So, the tub, he glazed, still has great glaze on it. No bubbles and peels. So, second time, he did ok of a job. Since, he figured out, I won't need his service again. So, all in all, when he tries and does his best its great. But, when he doesn't he seems does short cuts. Anyway, it's kind of a little gambling but, in my case it was good one. read more

Do NOT use Kevco!! He did a horrible job on my tub. He left clumps of dust and hair in the finish and a gap in the glazing around the drain. I complained and he said he would call me back and set up a time to come fix it, but he never did. Instead he dodged my calls until I finally gave up 3 months later- about the time the glaze was bubbling up and peeling off. A total mess and waste of money. The job looked great at first. After a couple months there were several spots on the tub floor where the paint rubbed off. I called him 3 times so that he could come out and respray. He was very abrupt with me and I could tell that he didn't want to come back out, even if I made a partial payment for the respray. He stopped returning my calls all together. There are lots of guys around the East Bay who offer the same service for similar prices. You should try them instead. read more

I used Kevco for a bathtub because I found a coupon in our local mailer. I was encouraged that he gave a 5 year warranty. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this company. He was punctual, pleasant and orderly. It's the product I take issue with. Two days after it was painted I saw a small bubble in the tub and picked it. It created a bigger hole that was easy to scratch off. The finish was not sticking. I called him immediately to see if there was some small fix so the hole would not get bigger. I was not going to charge him or stop my check, I just wanted some advice. I called 3 times and he never called back. I even mentioned his 5 year warranty. Since we painted this very old tub to sell the house, I decided just not to use this bathroom. But my son moved back in with us so we had to use it. It is 4 months later and the shine is gone from the tub. I had another tub refinisher in who said that they could not fix it because the paint and primer used did not adhere to the tub so their product would actually make the finish peel off worse. They would have to charge me to take off the Kevco coat. Ugh! Oh well, lesson learned. I should have checked Yelp first. read more

I had Kevco recoat a shower pan . Wow. If I had read the reviews, I might not have called him. So far so good, but it has only been 1 week. He's not punctual, but then again it is hard to get anywhere on time with all the traffic in this area. I had priced other companies, but chose him because he advertised local and was a bit less expensive. The work looks great as of today.
