Incase anyone was wondering the history of Kettle Ho check out the pics. This place has amazing lentil soup! Julia was a great server!! This place is really cool college banners all over the place. Can't wait to come back!!

Imma still eat at the Ho every chance I can get, but I have to drop a truth-update from the last summer supping: The lob roll is no longer a special, but it's $33 - thirty-three friggin' dollhairs - and most definitely less stuffed than past seasons. The meat is a little more beat up, so if you're doing it for the 'gram, the knuckle and claw of yesteryear may be tougher to find. Still the best on the Cape, though. And you get a trough of slaw. #slawtrough

Shrimp Linguini (Penne pasta)

Good restaurant overall. The setting is more of a small town bar which we liked, but it is a family friendly joint! The servers were friendly and relatively attentive. The food was average: My husband ordered fish and chips and said it was okay (Not the best he has bad, but not the worst! He still cleaned his plate though haha). I ordered shrimp linguini - shrimp and tomatoes were flavorful, the sauce was good but a little too runny which made the pasta overall plain tasting.

Nice local tavern. Usually fairly busy. They have some of the best Stuffed Quahogs(sp) on the Cape.......maybe anywhere.

Lobster roll is huge. Burger is great. Stuffed quahog is amazing. I'd recommend ordering off-menu from the specials for instance.

Noisy dive with surprisingly good food and service; reasonable prices. We like the burgers but the seafood also looked great.

The Popponesset Inn - Leave room for dessert

Went here for the Thanksgiving buffet. $59.00 per person, just food, no drinks. Food was very good…read more Only complaint was the dining room was a little chilly, and the area they had the dessert in it was freezing! Granted it's right on the water and it was 20 degrees out, but they could've put the heat up or set up the dessert elsewhere. Dessert display was was ok but could've had more thought put into it. Thought it would've been nice to have included one glass of wine in that price point. Not crazy about the automatic 18% gratuity added to the check. Would recommend it! Also, we were caught in traffic and arrived 30 minutes late. Called ahead and they accommodated us. Friendly staff.

Unfortunately, the food was one of the most disappointing meals we've had during our time on Cape Cod. Several menu items were not as described. The calamari looked like a large portion, but nearly half of it consisted of fried pickled jalepeño and cherry peppers that weren't mentioned on the menu. My shrimp scampi was served in a thick, bland cream sauce that was much closer to Alfredo than a traditional garlic, butter, and lemon scampi. Another person in our party ordered the chicken piccata, which had the same heavy cream sauce rather than the bright lemon-caper flavor you'd expect. The pasta in both dishes was poorly cooked, and the fried clam basket turned out to be all whole clam bellies, which also wasn't disclosed on the menu. The shrimp tacos were the only meal our group enjoyed. At the end of the meal, I politely shared our feedback, making it clear I wasn't looking for a discount or anything in return. I simply thought the kitchen should know. The concerns were brushed off, no one followed up despite several nearly untouched meals being cleared away, and we weren't even thanked as we left. Cape Cod has so many outstanding restaurants, so this experience was especially disappointing. Between the inaccurate menu descriptions, poor food quality, and lack of concern when constructive feedback was given, I wouldn't return or recommend it.

I've waited a day to review because I want to be fair. I had read the mixed reviews and as I…read moreconsider reviews of myself and those I sat next to I definitely see why reviews are so mixed because even we received different experiences! So to start I must say that macadamia encrusted salmon was phenomenal and in it alone 5 stars easily! Absolutely delicious! I'm serious! INCREDIBLe in taste - portion - presentation! The bread appetizer is highly critiqued for being a purchased item at an Italian restaurant, but the dipping oils with garlic and roasted pepper never comes with free bread apps that I've seen so again easy five stars!!! I'll add pics - it's impressive! Then, what else to review - it's our 34th wedding anniversary and we're not high maintenance so when we book and we're asked about occasion, but never celebrated I'm ok with that, but why ask then? We don't typically order dessert, but 34 years seemed like we should so we got carrot cake and it was great. With the big portions they serve not necessary, but if you're a dessert person go for it! When we scheduled reservation the restaurant was full, so we booked bar seating and loved the vibe sitting next to locals watching Red Sox play. Everyone was friendly and gave great suggestions for us for remainder of our stay. All of that said I must give the place a five with all those low reviews, but in true transparency what wasn't a five: When we arrived on time for reservation the sweet hostess apologized it would be a little while. We were seated approx 15 min later at the bar that had about 9 seats open, and four bar workers in and out yet 15 minutes would go by before anyone acknowledged us. Yet, one bartender who seemingly was in charge of restaurant alcohol orders was bantering with a male patron and explained him across the way how the chef/owner is done and looking to sale if he can find right buyer. Eventually an Italian speaking bartender gave us menus and apologized she was behind. We eventually ordered drinks and much later lobster ravioli we had heard raves about (but now an hour in and told sold out) but drinks good and we pivoted to Marsala and salmon, but a party of four was brought in to the bar and seated with empty dishes and glasses from previous patrons which seemed odd. Another waitress came by from restaurant and extremely short almost chastising the hostess and another waitress gave me an apologetic look as we both recognized I didn't need to hear that. Food took awhile but we're on vacation and enjoyed the atmosphere. I have zero regrets eating here and loved loved loved my meal, the historic building, sweet bartender (who needed some support or busier as the bar filled fast), and vibe of that bar surrounded by locals, and I'm from Utah only here for a weekend so that says a lot.

Went to Villaggio tonight for our anniversary, and I must say(especially to some of you naysayers),…read morethat it was fabulous. The service, atmosphere, prices, and obviously the food, was excellent. For starters, we split the Caprese salad and French Onion soup; both great. For dinner, my wife got Cod Francese, while I chose an Italian classic- chicken parm. I know what some of you are thinking- - oh come on, it's chicken parm. Take it from an Italian(especially one who has gotten this dish from the last two "Italian" restaurants and has been very disappointed); this was great. The chicken was fried to perfection, the sauce was to die for, and the cheese was absolute perfection. The owner, Chef Jay, took time out from the kitchen to check on us; very nice. We will definitely return, and hopefully with guests. It was a pleasure to dine here

The pancakes were fluffy and flavorful- two was definitely enough but the third is only $1 more. They put chocolate chips into the batter but also on top for maximum chocolateyness. They told us it would take about 20 minutes to get a table for 2 which makes sense on a Sunday morning in the summer, and it was a pretty accurate estimate. It took a while to get the food, about 35 minutes from when we ordered. The wait to get on the waitlist was interesting because I think the checkout computer for the bakery is also where waiters and waitresses have to put in orders, verbally with whoever is there. There was a line of us waiting to put our names down/check in while a waitress had to read out three tables' orders to be entered on the tablet. We'd been done eating for about 10 minutes and sat waiting for the check, unsure if we were supposed to checkout at the computer or if they'd bring a check. We flagged down our waitress to ask and she told us we could pay at the counter (glad we asked!) We had what I'd consider the best table in the house: a corner two-top! I didn't feel cramped or overwhelmed but I think I might have at a lot of the other tables here. They make the most of their space but I can see where it could be a little claustrophobic. All in all, it's not a quick stop per se but the food is great and we love supporting small businesses!
