Going on 3 years later and I am still seeing YESENIA for my hair, and have to say it has only gotten better! She has successfully helped me to grow my hair out to my mid back, while keeping the body and wave alive. She has taught me tricks to styling it, and I can now recreate that similar salon look. That look you know you love when you leave, but know you won't ever be able to do your self. So even though I can recreate the look, I have always had frizzy hair when i let it dry versus blowing it dry. Yesenia told me at my last visit about this new Keratin service they were offering, which basically is this amazing product she would flat iron into my hair, and in 3 days I could come back and have it blown out and that my frizz would pretty much be gone, cutting my blow dry time in half.... and even letting me wash my hair and go and have straighter hair with no frizz! This seemed almost too good to be true. Again, I never wash and go, unless my hair is to stay in a bun. But Yesenia has not failed me, so I decided to do the treatment, a bit of a splurge, but OMG let me tell you well worth it!! Went to the salon, had the Keratin paint brushed on ever bit of hair, an art i tell you, and apparently this process/product is all the rave, don't really keep up i guess! So- I get this product paint brushed on, it sits, then every strand of hair gets artfully flat ironed in. I walk around with stylie straight hair for 3 days, a little hard to not wash, but was told by Yesenia that it was the most important thing to let it stay in. This product by the way has no chemicals, did not hurt me or smell.. Okay now to the best part, it was such a cool ordeal, but when i went back in to get it it washed out, i swear i had a new head of hair, i swear the frizz is gone, i have been able to literally wash and go, and it dries with a bit of wave, and no frizz. It's suppose to last 4 months, so we will see! Basically, I had to update and let people know of this Keratin service, and how great YESENIA is at what she does, she makes your visit fun, and more then anything keeps you coming back! I want to like this salon (I love the 4th Street location), but don't think I'm clicking with it. I want a 3.5 star rating, so I've given 4 instead. I had misgivings after the first visit related to the cut. I had to go back and have a correction made (random long piece in a shorter cut), which was disappointing in a $95 hair cut, with further corrections during a follow-up bang trim. The hairdresser did cut the best side-swept bangs I've ever had and they were very willing to correct the cut, so I decided to go back. On booking the second appointment, the salon called me with a date/time from an online appointment request I submitted from their website. We picked a day and time. Then they sent a confirmation for an entirely different day and time that the one we discussed. I had to call back to confirm the verbal appointment date/time were correct. I find their booking process bumpy. When I arrived for my second visit, the receptionist ignored me (she was on the phone), so I sat in the waiting area. The salon was rather empty, so I was surprised when the receptionist asked if I'd been helped after she hung up the phone. Ah, no. The appointment started 15 minutes late, but that's not unreasonable. I didn't quite get the haircut I was looking for, but got a nice alternative. I would recommend the salon, but be prepared to work around possible booking disconnects and need for cut adjustments. read more

The three star is "A-okay" and the 2 star is "Meh I've experience better" I feel bad giving two stars because it looks so bad but the latter quotation more accurately describes my experience here. I received a haircut from one of the in training stylists. I brought some photos of what I wanted done to my hair and the man said it was totally do-able. There were some physical differences between my hair and the ones in the photo so going in I knew it would be difficult in getting the desired outcome. The stylist did his best to get my hair to an acceptable level but towards the end, I was not happy about how the back turned out. I asked for a little bit more off and he thought that it would look too "masculine". I got him to make the change but even then he did not really do it the way I wanted. He didn't take off as much as I asked and i became frustrated that maybe i was being too picky and let it go. I got home to examine the work, and i did not think it was too "masculine" at all and wished that more would have been taken off. He was a stylist in training and I paid less than the asked price for a "master" stylist but still. In the course of talking, he said he had been cutting hair for about 10 years.... So something is a little off here. The bottom line is that it really depends on who you get. read more

I have gone to Keter twice now and am very impressed with the haircuts I received. My stylist was Tia each time and I will continue going to her exclusively from now on. I had been going to Temescal Alley (I am a guy) on and off for about a year if for no other reason then I couldn't find a reliable stylist. At T.A. you know what you will get which is nice for a haircut but I want a little more of a customized style. Tia worked with me closely each time conversing for a few minutes before she even started cutting about what worked and didn't work, what I liked about the first haircut and what I didn't like. I have very fine hair with many different cowlicks and have been told throughout my entire life that I have VERY difficult hair to cut., yet Tia conquered my hair with ease. Everytime I leave Keter salon I feel and look like a rockstar. Each time I am there I see many people leaving the salon with fabulous hairstyles no matter who has cut their hair. The online appointment scheduler is easy, convenient, and takes only a couple minutes. Each time I book an appointment online I am promptly called by the receptionist to confirm and I also receive a reminder call the day before my appointments. I've been going to Keter for 4 years. I had so many bad experience in the past from trying to save money and going else where. In addition, I have fine hair and most people want to give me tones of layers that looks like one big split end in a month. I used to have Tracy for color, who was so super good. Yesenia for hair cut. I had the best team. Tracy is no longer there and doing her own thing. Now, Yesenia does both and she is amazing, She is always educating herself and she listens to what I want. I remember a couple of years ago I was so frustrated with my hair and wanted to do something drastic. I told her, make it short, I insisted fit was what I wanted! Since, she has been working with me for years she talked me into waiting and seeing if I really want in a week and if I really want it she will do it then. I am so glad I waited! I would of made a big mistake. It's because she knows what I really want and has been working with my hair for sometime that she was able to help me reason with myself. She now does color and is really knows what she is doing. If you want a good hair cut and color I would give Yesenia a try. She will take great care of you!! read more

I love Keter Salon. I go to Diana and describe what kind of haircut I'd like in terms like "playful, easy to take care of, sexy" or "professional, easy to take care of, pretty" and let her do her magic. She has given me so many different kinds of haircuts, different lengths and styles. I have loved each one and basked in the compliments. Best of all, she can create a style that really looks good with very little maintenance (I do not own a blow dryer) . She always shows me some simple styling options in the salon. Also, the haircuts grow out amazingly well...I have straight/wavy hair, but have two friends with curly curly hair that have gone to Keter regularly to get a good curly cut...The results have been gorgeous and fun. Diana is truly an artist. The salon is a training site too, so you can get a good deal, plus people are inspired and interested. It's luxurious on the one hand, as you are offered cucumber water or tea to sip as you wait on faux leopard cushions...and just really friendly and comfortable as well. I highly recommend Keter for a great haircut that lasts and an enjoyable time in the salon. read more

I have been getting my hair cut at Keter Salon for a very long time. It is the best salon in the East Bay. The entire salon is run very professionally from the front desk to the stylists and assistants. I love going there. Just recently I saw Wayne Garsky who has been cutting my hair the entire time I have been going to Keter. I told him I wanted to make a drastic change by cutting my hair which was down to the middle of my back off to a short cut. Wayne embraced the idea of change and reviewed the photo's of possible short hair cuts I brought as ideas. He was great in pointing out what would and would not work with my hair texture and facial structure. Then he started to cut!!! And the end result--adorable! I am a new woman!! He gave me the cutest short hair cut that takes into account my hair texture and shows off my face and bone structure. Everyone that has seen me since has really loved it. Another great visit with Anita at Keter last week. This time it was me that was a bit late, but Anita was able to make it work. She has kids, and understood what I had gone through to get a babysitter and get there for the appointment, which I really appreciated. Once again, a great experience and courteous, friendly staff! My stylist was working with an assistant this time, and I was treated very well by both of them. This time I had my color done. The color, shampoo/head massage, and blow all were exquisite. Oh, and, my haircut grew out awesome by the way (from 8 weeks back). Definitely shows that this place cares about their clients. I overheard several conversations from the receptionist and stylists on how to accommodate people who were trying to squeeze in last minute and it seemed like the staff sincerely cared enough to try to fit them in even though the schedules were full. After so many experiences with annoying pretentious S.F. salons...this place is breath of fresh air. read more

*Sam is my hairstylist* I can't say enough good things about my experience at Keter Salon. The staff is very kind and the waiting room (although small-think boutique) is comfortable with decent reading material (mostly geared towards the ladies but its groovy. The entire space has a very light and airy feeling to it so you feel good about being there. They use superb product (its hard to find places that use Shu Uemura) and they KNOW how to use it (which is also hard to find). As for Sam - He is incredibly talented and has a knack for styling mens hair. I have been to numerous stylists and I can say honestly that Sam is the best. He has an unparalleled eye for detail and he wants to make sure you look fantastic before you leave the chair. He uses the shears kids, he doesn't just throw on a number 4 and go to town. He takes his time because its important to you, so its important to him. The man knows his shit. Done and Done. Do it. read more

I love this Salon!!! After my old stylist went into retirement several years ago I started on a quest to find a new one. After a couple of years of mediocre hair cuts and colors I got referred to Frankie, and let me tell you, she is great! She takes her time and is very precise and is actually willing to give me the hair cut I want and has input on how to have a stylish cut with my own little twist on it so I'm not looking like everybody else out there on the street. I spent years looking for somebody who could compare to my last stylist and found somebody even better. Score! I also have to give props to the salon. Ever ytime I show up for my appointment I always get a warm welcome and the other stylists and people working there always remember me and talk and joke around with me. And I'm always supplied with tea and water. This place is sophisticated and trendy and caters to everybody. My long search was worth the wait. Love it!!! read more

Wane is a god. I have been going to him over 10 years - I followed him from Festoon. He does color like Van Gogh - he is honest, fun, down-to-earth, stylish and uber-talented - that's why I've stuck around so long. And then he did something miraculous - he straightened and softened my beyond frizzy curly hair using the keratin process - he relieved me of a lifetime of hateration with my hair! I've been looking for a hairsylist who knew how to cut curly hair and I thank god I found her....her name is Yesenia. I went online and read so many excellent reviews on Yesenia's talent in cutting hair and her excellent, professional, positive attitude that I had to go see her. WOW!!! That's just what I can say she has done such a wonderful cut that I feel GREAT. I truly and honestly recommend Yesenia; she not only gave me an excellent cut that makes my curls look bouncy and sexy but explain step by step what she was doing to my hair and taught me how to repeat the style at home. I will definetely go to her again. Also the customer service and friendliness in this salon is wonderful. I definetely agree with all the other reviews that when you go to Keter you get treated with respect and courtesy; I had never gone to a slon that received you with an honest welcome smile and that it offer you water or tea while you wait. read more

I was recommended Keter Salon by a friend who always had gorgeous hair, and it was time I got on that bandwagon. I made an appointment - on a Sunday ! - with their color specialist, Tracy. She was really nice and cool and on time, which was great. She talked to me at length about a technique that I'd never heard of but that I learned I see in magazines and on television all the time - balayage. Tracy showed me several photos of models and stars that had it. It sounded awesome, and I really felt like she knew what she was talking about. I decided to put my hair and trust in her hands... About an hour and a half later.... I was fabulous! My hair is beautiful and sexy and in great condition. A week ago I had no idea what balayage was, and now I'll never get anything else. She transformed my appearance into something amazing. My husband calls me 'cutie' now. People have commented how much they like my new do. I walked into Keter Salon last week for the first time knowing that I wanted to cut off at least 7 inches of hair but not knowing anything beyond that - how short or what I wanted to look like. Luckily, I got Sam, who was a total gem and gave me a haircut I love and am wishing I had done months ago. He was super patient with my suggestions and I feel like he really heard me when I spoke of what I knew I did and didn't want. He understood when I told him I wanted something that would slim my face (I'm pregnant and insecure about my face looking wide) and the cut he gave me really answered to that. OUTSTANDING SERVICE - 5 stars just don't do it justice! Let me tell you the tale behind this: After my hairstylist of 15 years relocated, finding a new one and rebuilding trust was a challenge. Change isn't easy for me, but Sara made all the difference. She revitalized me, boosted my confidence, and now I feel like myself again. I wish I had discovered Sara earlier instead of sticking with my previous stylist. She took the time to ask me what I wanted and did not feel rushed. Pheakdey is the best facialist I have ever been to. Her touch is beyond amazing, it is graceful and healing. I felt ALTERED in the best way possible afterwards, and glowing inside and out. What a gifted individual, this gal. I cannot explain in words how this experience changed my day. I suffer from serious back pain and after the facial it actually went away for the rest of the day. Pretty amazing, and now I have to go as often as humanly possible! The product line she used is a 100% pure organic oil line by Marie Veronique, and I am using the day oil and spf 20 at home, and every morning i think i look younger even though I'm not sleeping cause I have a newborn at home! . I was a balayage virgin...but now, I'm spoiled and won't go back to average hair color techniques again! I am so impressed by the design skill of Jordan at Keter Hair Salon. She has been able to artistically design the perfect combination of low and high lights helping to create a dynamic natural summer blond look (no paint by numbers here!). The good news is also that my darker roots are more easily disguised as the new growth is beginning to come in as well. I am recommending all my friends to Keter for the excellent cut, beautiful color and great feeling of well being they provide to their clients! I had been coming to keter for a couple of years and had haircuts from savannah - sorry she's gone. ... so i came in apprehensive about a new stylist - so much so that I freaked out on my first haircut from the new stylist - turns out that yesenia did a fantastic job on my hair -- talked to diana the owner about coming back in to take a little more off-- yesenia was great about letting me come back in to fix my hair (she'd never done my hair before so it was understandable).
