I want to give a shout out to KiKi. Had a haircut by a nice guy but it just wasn't what I had envisioned. Perhaps there was a miscommunication on both sides. Got the haircut on Saturday, called on Sunday with my concerns and was given an appointment that very morning with KiKi. She listened, she advised and she showed me photos. I chanced across Mayra at Keter last year and she's the only person I let do my hair color! Mayra's gave me vibrant red hair last year, and then this year in the midst of COVID I wanted to start over so I cut my hair very short, and Mayra gave me a super white-grey bleach job (and my hair is naturally dark brown, so both of these colors she gave me are impressive). I've never gotten so many compliments on my hair color as I do when Mayra does it. I'm so happy and impressed AND she's managed to do it in a way that hasn't totally damaged my hair--and in fact I *love* the products they carry at Keter, so I always just let Mayra tell me what to get (I most recently started using Shu Uemura ultimate reset shampoo conditioner, and an anti-brass kerastase mask and they all smell SO GOOD). Mayra also is just a wizard in that I bring her photos for my color inspiration and I swear she looks at them for 2 seconds and then goes back and whips up the exact color, I don't know how she does it because it's not just that the color is right, but she's figured out how to make my hair become that. She's also just a super nice person and I get excited to come hang out for a few hours. Keter in general is just a really nice salon; everyone is always having a nice time and seem to be friends, and everyone in there seems to come out with hair as great as mine, I just really adore coming in, hair day is always one of my favorite days. read more

I have been a client at Keter for over a year now. I am so glad to finally have a salon, and hair stylist/expert that I am excited to go to. I hopped around places for literally a decade without ever being truly thrilled with my experiences until a friend recommended Keter to me. Heidi is my stylist and I could not be more pleased with her work. She is the type of professional who not only listens to what a client wants, but she clearly cares a lot about the product that she is producing. She puts so much care into her work, anything from a basic cut to balayage. I've seen her about 5-6 times and I've always left feeling really happy with the end result (cuts and balayage) On top of being very talented, she's also a really nice person and just puts you at ease during the whole experience. Sarah, another stylist at Keter is also great, she goes out of her way to make clients feel welcome as do all the people at the front desk. I really enjoy the overall experience and products sold at Keter, and highly recommend. I plan on being a client indefinitely. read more

Got a haircut with Joanne around a week ago. Originally I thought it was great. Joanne is amazing and super friendly, however my hair became layered in an interesting way where it is way to short. The first layer ends in the middle of my head and my hair goes down to my shoulders! For how expensive the service was, it was not worth it. I had to go to another salon to get it fixed. Again, Joanne is great just be clear with what you want for your cut. We definitely had a misunderstanding. read more

I've had three good haircuts with Keter salon, by Rachel. Hence the 3 stars. Unfortunately, Rachel is no longer at this salon. I went for a haircut about a week and a half ago. The stylist cut my hair a lot shorter than what we discussed. To add my hair is curly so it looks even shorter. I'm not sure that the stylist has a lot of experience with curly hair. So far I've been hiding the haircut. I called last week and was told that maybe I could come into the salon and that management would call me or the stylist. It's been a week and I've gotten no call. I'm just pretty disappointed with the experience, especially as I expected a lot more for an expensive hair cut. I will not be going back to the salon. read more

I scheduled a blow out for my prom around 2 weeks before the actual day with Anita. When I got there, I was told that I had not scheduled a blow out and that there was only time for curls since they were over scheduled. They acted like it was my fault for having to squeeze me in when after all, they had just simply overbooked their stylist. I was able to work out a wash and a blow dry after showing the stylist a photo for reference when she offered to "set" my hair with curls because they would last longer. About an hour after pinning my hair up in curls with loads of hairspray, I was told that my service was $136!! I had expected to pay no more than $70 since that is the average price for a blow out and was never told how much more the "set" curls were, otherwise I would never have gotten it! The curls were nothing special either. There was a very strange vibe there as it was crowded and overbooked. My stylist was rude and seemed annoyed that she had to do my hair. Will never be going back and hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

Stephanie at Keter Salon did such an incredible job of transforming my hair. She asked what I wanted, listened and perfectly executed my ambiguous requests--because I didn't *really* know what I wanted, just that I wanted a CHANGE. She gave me a but that I came away feeling so much better. Stephanie is an artist, and I'm thrilled with both my cut, which I think will be easy to manage and fits my face shape well and the color, which is vibrant and will grow out nicely. read more

After losing my hairstylist to a band tour I scheduled an appointment with Wayne at Keter Salon. My hair had not been cut in five months and I was desperate to have my style back. After showing him a picture of what the haircut looked like when it was first done and explaining the cut to him, I thought he would be able to handle it. My haircut resembles Kirsten Dunst's style when she had short hair. It is not a everyday common style. When Wayne was finished, I looked in the mirror and saw a 40 year old soccer mom style haircut staring back at me. It was aweful. The layers were all regular and would group together in these even chunks. I have thick hair and in the past stylists have added extra layers to deal with the thickness. This time my hair just wanted to expand in a bowl shape on my head. The salon is known for quality but I did not experience it. My haircut was too pricey and I could have received the same quality haircut at Supercuts. read more

Ohh Yelp how you have let me down. I went to Keter with high hopes only to came home disappointed. I go to get my hair cut for two reasons - one to get it shorter (is that not the point of a cut?) and two to get the weight taken out. After my experience at Keter I came home $65 poorer and still in need of a hair cut (albiet a slightly less dire need). The cut itself was fine, but failed to serve any purpose. Basically, a week after getting my hair cut at Keter I found myself with an appointment at another local salon. Its a beautiful salon in a great location, but there are better places in the area. read more

I actually followed the owner, Diana, from her salon in San Francisco to Berekely even though I live in SF because of the great cuts and color and the great service provided by Diana and the rest of the staff at Keter. Everyone is so friendly and professional, and I feel that they are always striving to provide the most current and quality hair services and products. Keter Salon is a great place to get your haircut/ colored. I am very very hair conscious, so much so, I would fly back to NYC to get a great haircut, but no longer, since I have found Diana and Keter. I found Keter by asking people with great cuts where they got their hair cut. I have been going to Diana for the last 5 years and get consistently great hip stylish easy to maintain cuts that grow out very well. I still stop and ask people with great hair/cuts who cut their hair. Last three people said Diana at Keter. How is that for confirmation of a great haircutter!! Diana has a great creative eye for styling and color. I go in an say "just cut and I leave very happy every time and often get people asking me where do I get my hair cut. I know I'm one of many writing raving reviews about Frankie but it needs to be known that if you need a good cut she's the lady to do the job. My hair had been getting progressively shorter before I had gone to Frankie and I wasnt too happy with how my previous stylists had cut my hair. I went to Frankie because of a recommendation and I wanted someone to give me exactly what I wanted. First of all I have never been happier with a haircut. She really listens to what you want, takes her time on the cut, and the finished product is more stylish and better than you first imagined. Frankie's cuts, colors, and stylings are complete works of art and someone as talented as Frankie would be extremely difficult to find. Several years ago, I was looking for a new salon when the girls at Benefit told me that Keter was great. They were so right and I have been having my hair cut and colored by Diana (the Owner) ever since! I get my hair done regularly by Frankie at Keter. I have ALOT of hair and she totally knows what she is doing and manages it perfectly (not to mention she is adorable and fun). I love, love, LOVE going to Aviva at Keter. I have tons and tons of very coarse, very thick, yet very short maybe two - three inch long hair. It is hard to cut, takes a long time and is boring if not done right. Aviva has cut my hair probably five times or so and has never, ever given me a bad cut. She styled it differently than I normally would as well and people are constantly asking me where I got it cut. The best thing about Aviva and her cuts is SHE LISTENS TO WHAT YOU WANT!!! Not that common! She also helps me stretch the time between cuts by doing my bangs in between, big difference. Aviva has also done highlights for me which turned out fabulous! Wayne is amazing! I have always cut and colored my own hair (and not have been thrilled with it - ever). After Wayne, I will never do it again. I had the Balayage high-lights and low-lights with a base color and it looks absolutely fabulous. Not symmetrical and fake like most highlights, these are very complimenting and natural looking. I saw Diana for the first time and know I will be a customer for life. She is the first stylist I have seen in a long, long time who corrected my decades' worth of hair-product and highlights' damage and gave me back my curly, shiny hair. The hair cut established my curl and the careful highlighting gives my hair interest, texture and definition. She also taught me how to apply conditioner (who knew?) and to correctly use a diffuser. LOVE this salon. Jesenia gave me the best cut of my life. She took my mid-back length long hair and shaped it to look fabulous. She suggested I move my part which had a great effect, gave me suggestions on how to train my hair to stay in the new part and lightened and lifted my whole style. I don't grow much hair at my neckline, so it's often an awkward area. She miraculously created the illusion of my having a hairline! Aviva was my hairstylist and she did a great job! I had long straight hair that had grown out. I don't have a lot of hair and wanted a style that would give me volume. Plus, a style that didn't require a lot of work. Aviva listened to what I wanted and suggested a chic bob for me. I love my new hair. My husband loves it. My friends love it. My aunt even commented that I have thick, voluminous hair. =) I frequently get nervous when hairstylists chat and chat while cutting my hair, while they look distracted, tired or perplexed. I had a fantastic haircut with Tony today. Besides our lovely conversations about where to eat and movies to watch I loved my hair cut. He listened to what I wanted, and was honest if it would work because I dont blow dry my hair or style it really. He answered all my questions and was not pushy with products like many high end salons feel like for me. I ended up buying shampoo and conditioner not because he pushed it but because he just explained how higher quality products are better for the hair and he sold me. I live in the East Bay and used to travel to San Francisco to get my hair cut and colored because I hadn't found someone who really did a great job... until I met Kiki at Keter Salon. She is amazing and I feel completely confident every time that I go in to see her that I'm going to come out looking great. Keter is SUCH a hidden gem. I got my hair cut recently by Tifani, an amazingly kind, funny and attentive stylist new to the Bay. Most of the time, when I see a stylist in an educational program, the experience takes DECADES and I leave feeling underwhelmed. Not so with Tif. Tia is totally awesome. I met her when my little girl was trick-or-treating on 4th Street this past Halloween -- Tia was spraying kids' hair all sorts of fun colors gratis (with their parents' permission of course!) at Keter's sidewalk stand. I was so impressed by how well she listened to my daughter's copious instructions and by her own amazing sense of style that, the next day, I looked her up and booked my first appointment with her. I have been to Tia four times, for color and cut, and have been thrilled each time. Tia is an incredibly attentive listener who also knows what to do with the information you give her. She is great about offering suggestions, too. She is a talented colorist (she did my first balayage and I am now wondering why no one before her suggested it to me) and an equally talented stylist. Not only does my hair look great when I leave the salon, it also grows out beautifully (in my opinion, the true test of a good cut). Plus, the salon has a really nice vibe -- everyone there seems happy to be there -- and it is an elegant space. Tia is a professional through and through and a lovely person with so much positive energy that I feel as though I've been showered in sunshine every time I see her. Came here on Thursday. The location was great and the salon was clean and organized. Greeted by the front desk when I walked in. :-) The lovely Sierra Jackson was my hair stylist. I showed her pictures of how I wanted my hair. She gave me a lighter look with the balayage process. I absolutely LOVE how my hair turned out! It's subtle and blends in so well that it looks natural rather than dramatic. Sierra was very knowledgable when I asked her questions. Bottom line, Sierra did such an amazing job! My first experience here was extremely successful that I'm coming back in a few weeks to go even lighter! Sierra and the assistant manager Sasha helped me set up my next appointment date. I was super nervous to go to a new salon, I had been going to one of my best friends for years back in Minnesota, and she totally 'got me' and I never had to worry about not liking it, or never being satisfied. I moved to California a year ago, and recently went to Keter as I live not far from both of their salons. Aya - amazing for the cut she really listens; I haven't been this satisfied with a cut for a long time. Amy - for color - I went in wanting something super specific, Balayage with drastic differences. She went off of a Pinterest picture I showed her and I loved it day off. Few days later I was not super satisfied .. because the color just didn't look the same, I wasn't feeling confident that it looked the same. I called and Jeanette (front desk receptionist - super friendly and amazing) got me in with Amy and Amy was MORE THAN AMAZING, made sure I was taken care and my color looked the way I initially wanted it to. Needless to say - I am satisfied with Keter and will be going back to both Aya and Amy. They are great and want you to be happy. read more

Oh how I'd like to write fabulous prose about my experience at Keter. But I can't spend quite that much time, so please heed that this place is great because the people there are so great. Impeccably polite and friendly and remarkably patient and accommodating. I'll admit to my two favorites, Wayne and Frankie. Wayne is more than a hairdresser, he is therapy! When I'm there on a good day (my mood), he is too much fun. When I'm there on a bad day (my mood), he reads that and rolls with it, demanding nothing (don't you hate being forced into conversation? He won't do that.) but delivering a hair cut or coloring that will lift your mood. A side tale: my daughter was working out of state. She went to "the place" locally for a haircut and was so upset, called me to beg an appointment with Wayne when she came to visit. Wayne saved the day, she was delighted and could once again face her new job. Only word of caution: Keter ain't supercuts. It's not cheap. But it IS worth it. read more

Definitely 5 stars for Cailey!! I was in desperate need of a hair cut after almost 2 years of going without. My previous hair salon experiences were horrible and had given up on ever finding a good stylist for me. I have very thick hair with a lot of natural body to it and the wrong cuts cause it to look like a giant poofy mess. However, I decided to take a chance today and I'm VERY glad I did. I called and spoke to an incredibly nice receptionist who set me up with the very lovely Cailey. She was fantastic. We had a great first meeting to discuss hair types and pick a style/shape. She did an amazing job. She was sweet, energetic, thorough, and artistic. It is obvious that she takes a lot of pride in her work. I just moved to Berkeley from New York City a few weeks ago, and was sort of dreading the epic hunt for a new stylist that comes with a cross country move. I found the Keter Salon through great reviews online and really liked the design of the website, plus the fact that you can conveniently book an appointment online (I was able to conduct my search and book everything on my iphone). Also, it's in a great location on 4th street in Berkeley, the salon uses Bumble & Bumble products (total fan), and I loved the philosophy of the salon: "passionate about meeting the unique needs of our clients and creating a style that highlights their natural beauty". I had my appointment with Diana, and it was fantastic from start to finish. I have very curly hair, and I really like to be adventurous with the cut and color. The problem I usually have at hair salons, is that stylists are used to curly haired clients being paranoid about their hair, and only ever want conservative cuts, no razors, 'just a trim', etc., but I would always try to convince them to get creative with my hair and it was hard to get them to believe that I didn't just want standard layers. Diana was great because she really listened to me, and got that I wanted to play outside of the box with my hair. The result was fabulous, I got a beautiful new color, with great dimension, and a cute, yet funky cut. We even talked about other directions we could go in, for future appointments. Bottom line - I'm so glad that I discovered the Keter Salon. If you're looking for a creative bunch of stylists who will give you a pretty cut, with edge, then look no further! read more

Rebecca rocks! She's the best hair stylist I've ever had. I've been going to her for years, and every time, I get people stopping me on the street asking me for her info. She is a master stylist, and is one of the best with color. In fact she teaches specialty techniques in color, including for white hair. She gives me a calico look, with a base of red, and dark brown & blonde highlights. The cut is a shag, and is amazing. It takes years off my age. I'm soooo happy with the look! I'm recommending her to everyone I know, even if it means it'll be harder for me to book appointments! read more
