I sure was screaming... Boy what a discovery as Kenny Boy was one of the vendors at Fishcake first Matcha Fest so you know that they had the thing that I love...Matcha! Yup with three options to choose from... - Matcha Dango - Peppermint Krunch - Straw Dango (strawberries) The Matcha and Straw Dango is topped with Azuki beans and soft mochi balls while the Peppermint Krunch is topped with candy cane bits. The ice cream is kept quite nice and solid though once we started at it the bliss was instantly hit as the night was quite crowded standing in line for our drinks it was very refreshing to have a grab and go item that we can enjoy on the fly at just $5 a cup what a deal! Of course I had the Matcha Dango and though not a huge fan of Azuki beans it did pair nicely and I love that the ice cream wasn't too sweet though did wished that it had a bit more matcha flavor or perhaps a sprinkle of matcha powder over it. We did share bites of each flavor and all was just a nice and smooth not quite a crazy slap of instant hit but a elegant slight hint of the flavor profile. As I asked what other place he'd be at and already with lots of events lined up including Bishop Museum and Hawaii Kai but if you can't be there he does accepts online order but to night I was able to enjoy and support our small local biz and enjoy it too! Thank you!

Fantastic ice cream !!

I just adore a crafty mind!…read more As a major crafter myself I love finding the creativity and boldness they all take to the next level is just inspiring. The amazing joy I find is that no two market is alike, as this December 2022 at Ward Village event was held in the former Pier 1 location next to Nordstrom Rack. I had a blast exploring @AdamJK uniqueness as each of us loved the realness we can relate to each item weather a time that says shhhh, I got a stress ball that says "Nothing Matters" and I'd really like the hat "I really don't know what I'm doing" for work lol!! His spirit was just so fun and bright :-) My other delight was One Shabby Chick @oneshabbychickhawaii and unknowingly my first tote from her was a collaboration with @makelemonadeproject a non profit to ease financial burdens and going though it myself instantly got me so of course I needed another tote! So many fun gifting ideas, Bas bookshop, jewelry ad even a random give away "fingers crossed" this pet friendly market has something for all. Follow Art + Flea @artandflea to keep updated on their events, crafty retail therapy is a real Art form! Thank you!

October 30, 2014 I took my family to the Art and Flea event…read more I caught the bus with my daughter and foster child. We met Darcie who parked her car in the Ward Warehouse parking lot. We walked across the street to the back portion behind Marukai. Admission was $3 for the adults. The two kids were free. There were food booths but we saved our hunger for Goma Tei in the Ward Center. I jumped on the bike that helped power the KTUH sound stage. I got a free bag from Kaleo newspaper. It had some cool goodies inside. At the Yelp booth, Raelyn played a trivia game. I won a Yelp thermos. Many vendors were set up in a two-story warehouse. We picked up some cool young women's clothes at a terrific discount. Andy Lee was making his art and kindly gave us a free sample. All in all a pretty good night for a family get-together or outing. Also, it seemed very pet friendly even though the theme was Tokyo. During some bedtime talk we agreed that this event was more art than flea, but the flea bargains were indeed great.

It's a bit of a cross between a flea market and a Chinatown. The prices will get lower and some vendors will wheel and deal if you walk away. I bought a carved coconut tiki mug that started out at $25--my hesitation brought the price down to $15. Dog bandanas went from $15 each this $10 each. You get the picture. If it's fun to look around and bargain, but be aware that we saw similar items at the ABC convenience stores (on every corner--like a circle k but much nicer) for, in some cases, a lower price. Still, is kind of fun to go

The Sanrio Hawaiian edition collectibles was what attracted me the most. But they are expensive. The prices are different ranges. They had a lot of workers running the cashiers and food. They also had some tables to eat at. There is an alley way next to this place and if you walk deeper in there is a more affordable flea market that has many tents. Some of them can be very direct since they are trying to hustle. I bought a few things like 3 croc charms for $5 and 4 Sanrio Hawaiian plushies for $20. They take cash or card but cash is easier. You can try to bargain as well.

Like many other markets who seems to be trying to find a place Ho'omau Hawai'i Market has been shopping around and I think I do love this current location at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ballroom which was tricky to find if you're not paying attention like me as the ballroom sits on the 6th floor of the parking building so it's super convenient along with parking is validated at $10 flat rate which the staff was just so friendly to explain it all is nice. Happening over the following Black Friday weekend (Nov 26th & 27th), many are familiar and a few that is new to me browsing around in the cool air conditioning ballroom made the shopping experience nice. Weather it's picking up cute Turkish Towels and glassware from Kris Hawaii, Mamaki tea from Kihene, or my cravings at 'Ulu Chips and Hummus and many offered such great deal along with entertainment is such a calming vibe that has me shopping much more than I expected and the uniqueness is what makes this market so special. I love the cozy Japan vibes of this cafe. It's small with limited seating so I recommend doing to-go but it would be nice to have a coffee date here. I also got two bottled drinks -- the ume iced tea & lilikoi lemonade which were also sooo yum. The worker let me sample these two which was nice. I enjoyed the bottled drinks a couple days later, it was a refreshing treat. The staff were friendly & it didn't take long for us to get our drinks. The only challenge may be finding parking as they have only a few stalls in front. We ended up parking a little up the street on the opposite side. It was a short walk to the cafe & well worth it! Will be stopping by again soon for my matcha & tea fix.

I saw the pink food truck and saw they sold tacos so I decided to give their menu a look. They offer locally sourced meat, seafood and produce to create delicious tacos and Arepas, along with a refreshing Fresh Fruit Lilikoi Soda (I'll need to try this next time). I really love fish tacos, so I decided to give their blackened fish w/ pineapple salsa a try, along with the smoked meat with spicy chipotle sauce. The tacos were priced at $4/each or $10 for 3. The tacos here are a pretty good size for a quick early morning lunch bite. Each taco is filled with the perfect amount of garnishes (all their grilled tacos come with fresh Mexican crema!) so you can easily fit and fold for easy no-mess consumption. In terms of flavor, I really found both tacos to be very well seasoned, fresh, tasty, and very juicy. I'm not a big fan of sweet salsa's but the pineapple salsa with the blackened fish worked well together, although.. the smoked meat taco I think was my favorite of the day. Waianae can really do their smoked meat well out there and having it in a taco is just amazing! Highly recommend! If you ever get the chance to come out to the West side of the island, definitely try this food truck. They usually post where they'll be on their Facebook page (Waianae on Sat and Kapolei on Thurs) and I believe they also accept credit cards via square! Already looking forward to trying more of their menu items out my next venture to the west side! Keep up the great work and for supporting local!
