I started by calling a month prior to try and pre-order leis for my sons graduation but was told that they weren't taking any pre-orders because there was a flower shortage. I asked if they carried maile leis and was told that they do carry a maile style ti leaf lei. The gentleman on the phone was very pleasant and apologetic about not being able to make a special order for me. He suggested coming in first thing in the morning the day before or day of the event for best chance at getting what I wanted. I Arrived 30 minutes before opening on Monday morning the day of my sons graduation (sinve they are closed on Sundays) thinking I would have first pick of all the leis. I was disappointed to hear that they were left with a very limited selection after the "weekend". The weekend must consist of Saturday only because they are closed on Sundays. I was told that the new delivery wouldn't arrive until 4:30, which is closing time. I asked if they had open style ti leaf lei. The woman told me that all the leis came closed and I would have to cut it if I wanted an open style. I was confused and I think so was she. I asked again for ti leaf specifically. She walked to the freezer and came back after a couple minutes and said no, "no ti leaf leis". I was very disappointed since this was the main thing I came for and went on to make other choices to which she said they didn't have. I then asked what was avai6and chose from there. After spending $175 on leis she told me I have a maile style ti leaf lei. WTH wasn't that what I asked for. She pulls out a frozen lei and proceeds to defrost it. She tells me it cost $30. After defrosting it and asking a co worker she came back and told me it actually cost $60 not $30 because it was a double not a single. Of course I ended up getting it because it's what I came for. Overall the value of the leis are a good deal but I wasn't happy with the service. read more

They also offer kukui and shell leis that are longer lasting options, but nothing can beat the fragrance of a fresh flora lei. For large scale events, definitely call or email your order ahead of time. They are able to take requests through their website form. Unfortunately, the parking situation is not ideal. They are situated next to an automotive shop of some sort that seems to have the majority of the parking lot in front reserved just for them.. Leis by Ron was a really good place to get leis in bulk, but recently their sales suck. They workers seem to not want to keep repeat customers. Recently, they won't even take orders during peak sales time like graduations. It's too risky to count on them for bulk leis because they won't even take an order even if you tell them you understand that prices may be higher or they may have to make substitutions. read more

This is my third time purchasing leis from Leis by Ron and they have always been on it. I've always received fast and friendly service. My husband, 2 young kids and I actually just left their shop from placing an order for my son's 1st birthday party. You can't beat their prices especially with the quality you get! I ordered 7 kukui nut leis, 3 tuberose orchid, 3 orchid crown, 2 green orchid and 2 white orchid for a total of $81. When my school needed leis for our VIP guests for May Day, I was told Leis by Ron would be the perfect business to get what we needed because of their convenient location near our school and reasonable prices. I placed my order on the phone for 30 purple standard orchid leis 3 weeks prior to when I needed to pick up the leis. The gentleman asked me for the date and time that I would need to pick up the leis. He told me to make sure to bring my school ID with me so that I could get the school discount when I paid for my order. There were no problems in placing the order and I thought everything was set. Fast forward 3 weeks later when it was time to pick up the leis. I get to Leis by Ron on Mapunapuna St. and there's no parking to be found anywhere. Luckily, my boyfriend was able to drop me off and double park on the side. Parking is madness around here. When I walk into their warehouse, there's a line of less than 5 people, but I ended up waiting at least 15 minutes to be helped. When it was finally my turn, I found out that my order was not ready. My order wasn't even listed to be ready for that day. One of the workers took my order and started to get my leis ready. I ended up waiting almost a half hour for what should have been a quick pick up and go. The part that upset me the most was that instead of an apology for not having the order ready, the woman at the front told me that May is a very busy month. I couldn't believe that that was her response to why my order was not ready even though I called weeks in advance to give them time to prepare the leis. When my order was finally put together, it came in a big box that I knew wouldn't fit in the refrigerator at our school. I asked them if they had bags so I could separate the leis to make it fit easier in the refrigerator. The same woman said, "Oh, you were supposed to tell us if you wanted it to be bagged before we boxed it up." It would have been nice if they had given me the option before they started boxing it up because I didn't know they would just throw all the leis into one big box. Just something to keep in mind if you don't have a large space to store a bunch of leis and you want them to put the leis in bags for easier storage. read more

Last summer we had a big family reunion with people flying in from Asia and the mainland. We couldn't afford to buy fresh leis for all of them, but I was able to buy kukui nut and other beautiful non-flower leis from them for a great price. Easy to find in mapunapuna area. They have a small Parking lot in front of their store but they do have leis for a cheaper price than what I paid for at the airport. I was heading down to pick up my leis (that I ordered the week before for my kids graduation) so I call to confirm my order was ready and was told I didn't order any leis and that they don't do pre orders (saying it very rudely)... She asked for my phone number and name so she can check and continues to argue with me so then I had to argue with this lady on how then did I talk to someone there and was told my order will be ready anytime on Friday? She hangs up on me... A few minutes later she calls me back and says ok my boss said we have that order and I can come get it.... Again the leis are beautiful but so are all the other flower companies they need to get someone who knows how to talk to customers before they lose more customers. I'll probably not go back to them just because of what happened was a real turn off. read more

I came here to pick out a lei for a visitor coming from the mainland. Leis by Ron is a warehouse located right below Fort Shafter and pretty close to Nimitz Hwy. They supply many of the leis for stores on the island, so why not buy direct from the warehouse? I wanted something better than the usual single stranded purple orchid lei so she showed me a variety of other more deluxe leis to pick from. Pricing is variable but the standard single stranded leis cost $4.75 which is pretty good. (I think Costco sells two single stranded standard orchid leis for $8, so slightly more here.) You can get white, purple, or green orchid. The green orchid looks unique. I ended up getting a double stranded purple orchid with tuberose mixed in. The tuberose adds such an amazing smell it is worth the extra money. The lei I got normally costs $20 but she hooked it up for me for $15. Who knows what the original price was but I was pretty happy with the quality of the lei. She will help you out and explain the meanings behind the flowers and leaves if you ask. I was worried that the purple orchid was too girly for a guy, but she said it was unisex. The maile leaves that a lot of guys wear is reserved for special occasions like weddings and graduations because it is a symbol of good luck... since this was neither of those two events, I decided not to go with the maile haha. The maile leaf lei starts at $20 for just the leaves... if you want flowers twisted into the cost goes up. Hours are 8:00 am to 4:30pm Monday - Friday. Not sure about the weekends, but you can call a day in advance to order your lei if you have something special in mind. I just walked in cus I had no idea what to get. I will come here whenever I am in need of a fresh lei! read more

Picking up leis for graduation at the stadium. Aiea High School and nice this is right down the street from work and convenient. They have some beautiful leis to choose from but were out of Maile leis and only a few tea leaf Mailes but the prices were really high. Not sure if it was because of graduation weekend or if that is the normal price as I have never bought one before. Went for the regular orchid leis because the kids get so many they are smashed in moments. I would give the shop a 5 star but for the parking. It is terrible! I received a lei when I visited the island that came from this store. It was a double stranded purple orchid lei with tuberose mixed in, which gave it an incredible fragrant smell. From what I hear, the lei was $15 and single stranded leis start around $5. For the quality of the lei, you are getting an absolute steal. On the mainland, leis of similar or worst quality run at $60-70 a pop. Load up on the leis here if you get a chance! read more

Finding this place wasn't hard ... sort of, i expected a store and store sign to jump out at me, instead its tucked away in a auto shop. I have an SUV so parking definitely was a challenge but I was able to run in and out. The sales lady was super nice and gave me a discount on leis that normally ran double digits! I don't know if I'd come back only because I hate dealing with coming out from the side street into traffic where there should be a stop light or something...super dangerous around lunch. Inexpensive leis. Bought shell leis and kukui nut leis to take up to China. Crocheted the eyelash yarn around it to make it look more floral. People loved them! Also can use over and over again for other occasions. They also have fresh leis that you can ship back to the mainland. Highly recommend going here instead of fighting the traffic back in Chinatown. I returned to the mainland (Connecticut) to watch my daughter and her club volleyball team compete in a weekend tournament. I decided to bring some leis home to wish the team well in the tournament. I went to order 15 single orchid leis. Norma helped me with my order, including recommending that I go with an orchid and tuberose lei for only 25 cents more, $5 each. They are so much more fragrant than the single orchid lei. They offered to package the leis in a box suitable for travel. The leis were well packaged in a box with an ice pack. The box was stamped with their USDA stamp so going through TSA security at the airport was a breeze. Left on a Thursday evening, arrived in CT on Friday morning, and presented the leis on Saturday afternoon. The leis were in perfect condition, the team loved them.
