The pictures speak for themselves. We bought a new construction house with a dirt "blank slate" back yard. Ken was a pleasure to work with...and I say that having worked with a lot of different construction companies and people. He worked with us every step of the way and was always receptive to my wife's design ideas and input. What's more telling is Ken is literally the only construction person that my wife has enjoyed working with. His son and all of his employees are incredible people and they were always a pleasure to have around. Kendall Construction did our back yard and side yard. Next up is the front of the house and I cannot wait ! Down the road in a year or so we will be using them for a small pool in the back too ! Thank you Ken...you guys are amazing !!!

Ken does a great job. We hired him back 8 years after he did our front yard to do our backyard. We gave him some ideas of what we wanted (dog run, outside seating), but let him design it as he wanted. For any idea he had, he bounced it off us to make sure we were good with it. In the end we got a complete outdoor living experience we would have never came up with on our own. We highly recommend him and his crew.

After the rain, you can see how much water came through between the house and the patio cover.

After dealing with this company over the past year and half, I have some very real concerns for the public's safety. In fact, Kendall Construction did such a poor job that I had to report him to the Contractors State License Board and file a civil lawsuit against him, which we settled out of court. My lawsuit was for fraud, breach of our building contract, negligence, conversion (meaning they improperly took my money), and several other claims. I hired him to build some patio covers at my house. At first, I thought that the problem was just that the covers leaked with it rained. Within weeks of the work being completed, it rained a lot in our area. When it did, water was pouring (not dripping, pouring) between the cover and the house.  Ken Adams (the owner of Kendall Construction) somehow tried to blame me for that. That was just the beginning of many ridiculous excuses and rationalizations I faced trying to deal with this company. When we couldn't' get this issue resolved, I had to hire a lawyer who filed a lawsuit for me in the San Diego Superior Court. Through the process of the suit I had three different licensed contractors look at the patio covers to see what it would cost to fix it.  All three said they were so poorly done that they should be torn down and rebuilt.  I brought in a Certified Building Inspector who agreed with their findings, as well as making the determination that the work was performed without the required license from the Contractors State License Board, that a building permit was required (even though Kendall Construction assured me that a permit wasn't required), that the company violated the law by taking an improper down payment, and many other specific violations of the law and building industry standards including that the work did not comply with the Fire Code. Given my concerns about my home, my safety and those of my neighbors, I had the patio covers torn down at my own expense. What I didn't know when I hired Kendall Construction was that there is such a thing as "Wildland-Urban Interface Areas" or a WUI designation. These areas in places like Fallbrook are in or are closer to the undeveloped parts of the County and because of that there's a higher risk of wildfires spreading. If you live within a WUI area, then there are special rules for how you have to build in order to reduce the risk of wildfires. (If you want to see if your house is in a wildfire hazard area, the county has an online tool you can search at https://www.readysandiego.org/wildfire-hazard-map/) It turned out that I live in a part of San Diego County that is within that WUI designation so the work that I hired Kendall Construction to do had to comply with those special Fire Code provisions. As I understand it, all of Fallbrook (where I live and where Kendall Construction is based) is within the WUI area and subject to these heightened building standards so I was especially surprised to find out that the work didn't comply with appropriate building and fire codes. The professionals that I relied on during the lawsuit advised that the fact the work did not follow the Fire Code put my home and potentially the homes of my neighbors at an increased risk of losing our homes (or maybe even lives) due to a wildfire. I would be very concerned for anyone out there who has hired this company that the work done might also not comply with the building and/or fire codes. If you have any concerns that you or the public might be at risk, you should probably hire an independent third party to take a look at the work and find out for sure. If you are interested in finding out more about my specific claims against Kendall Construction (there were MANY other claims against the company that are not all described here) the court files are open to the public and available online. Everything that was filed in my case (including a copies of the reports by both an independent contractor and the Certified Building Inspector) are there to read. To do that, you can search the Court's Register of Actions and download the documents that were filed in the case at https://roa.sdcourt.ca.gov/roa/ and search under Kendall Construction or by our case number: 37-2020-00008049-CU-CO-CTL.

We were very pleased with Youngren and would recommend them for remodeling/construction projects, especially for those living in the local area of Fallbrook, Bonsall, Rainbow, Oceanside and Temecula. We found that having a local point of contact was extremely helpful, especially for a large time consuming project like ours. We conducted our remodeling effort in two phases with the first focusing on the kitchen, family room and living room and the second on the hallways, bathrooms and bedrooms. The bathrooms were completely remodeled/redesigned with plumbing changes and wall modifications. The flooring in the entire house was replaced with porcelain tile. New baseboards, window casings, closet doors, and windows were added. The Youngren team worked with us from beginning to end (design, permitting process, material selection, demolition, construction, final inspection) and proved to be very flexible when we requested changes as the worked progressed. One of the most positive aspects of Youngren is that they utilize very professional and reliable subcontractors who worked with us (and the Youngren Supervisor) to fine tune and adjust what we wanted. They included electricians, plumbers, countertop fabricators, drywall/finishers, painters, glaziers/shower glass installers, stucco contractors, cabinet makers and tile installers/setters. All were great. Always shop around, but definitely give Youngren Construction serious consideration for your remodeling project.

After over a week of no communication, I finally received a voicemail saying they wouldn't be doing the job and would just refer me out. This was after coming into my home, walking through every room, and closely interacting with me and my entire family. I was clear about the scope of work from the beginning, and they agreed to it--only to back out after wasting my time and putting my household at risk. Even if they didn't know, every close interaction with another person is a potential threat to my life due to an extremely serious primary immunodeficiency. This is exactly why it's so important to be kind, respectful, and considerate with other people's time. You never know what someone is going through. I would absolutely NOT recommend! Pick literally anyone else. Worst company I've dealt with yet - just so disrespectful to lie and waste my time.

As the project manager, Mike Gast was extremely patient and accommodating, and provided lots of feedback to solve various issues. This was a large project that involved removing the garage door, retrofitting 3 sets of doors, framing and finishing for a custom look, inside and out. They even installed special thresholds so we could be assured of being able to roll equipment in and out of the space easily. After each stage of the job, the crew cleaned up the area and removed all debris. The price quoted us initially was in line with competitors, better than several, who failed to follow up with us. There was no cost-creep, and we finished at the price quoted us. Progress and payment was tracked on their online job project site, which was an added benefit and inspired confidence. I can highly recommend Mastercraft and hope to use them in the near future for several other home improvement projects.
