I need some plubming work done and ive been looking at costs. This place is BY FAR the most overpriced. other places I called had much cheaper prices read more

We had a copper water line burst under the slab and went without water for weeks. GRU responded quickly and shut the water off. Then the process of finding a plumber. We got 2 bids for a total repipe. Kempton & Self was a little higher than the other but the way Cory ( the owner) explained the procedure, the warranty, the quality materials and that he'd work to get us water ASAP made the difference. He had a 4 man crew out here within 3 days! He was here on the site every day. The crew of Brad, Zac, & Devin were very courteous, professional, and were never bothered by any questions we had. They constantly cleaned up after themselves. A very stressful situation went very smoothly thanks to them. This company is the Best! read more

Very reliable and hard-working! They are the best and thankful they were their for our plumbing emergency.

I just want to start off by saying that I rarely leave a review, but these guys went above and beyond our expectations. We had our whole house re-piped and Trent, Mike and Devin were professional, courteous and kept everything nice and clean. (They were even conscientious about our cats being escape artists and kept outside doors closed.) I also want to mention that these guys were not the cheapest quote we received. However, their quote was detailed and we knew exactly what we were getting. No surprises. I'm sooo glad we chose Kempton & Self for such a major project. Because we are so pleased with their work, I will definitely call them again with any other plumbing issues that might come up and recommend them to anyone needing plumbing work done in their home read more

We needed a plumber to install a new American Standard Champion toilet that we had ordered. We also needed a shower diverter replaced. Kempton sent Charles who looked at the job and who then scheduled us for an appointment two days later. He arrived right on time and in no time, Charles had the new Champion in and working -- as well as the replacement diverter. He even offered to get rid of the packaging AND the old toilet for us! The actual bill was less than the estimate - something you rarely see. All in all, we were VERY HAPPY with the job Charles did -- even down to using a tan grout that would match our bathroom tile floor. He was courteous and super efficient. We also liked the way the office kept us apprised by confirming our appt and calling ahead with the tech's arrival time. This company will be our go-to for any other plumbing jobs. Thank you Charles, Sabrina, and Team Kempton! Your friends at Finish Line Farm, Citra, Florida! read more

We live in Branford, FL and after contacting a local plumber who said we needed to replace our water heater and flush the entire house, we call Kempton. They showed up the next day and checked the screens in our faucets and realized that we were getting sediment from our well clogging our fixtures. After cleaning all fixtures and replacing our toilet guts, we are good to go. Still need a sediment filter, which is our next job for them. The employee who did the work was considerate and informative, very polite and courteous. Highly recommend! read more

My 92 year old mum called k&s to fix a low flow problem in her guest bathroom. They convinced her that she needed to replumb the house costing 6k that she does not have. We were able to fix the problem by cleaning the faucet screens that had become clogged. They need to be reported to the elder abuse council before they take advantage of someone else. read more

After attempting to fix the problem in the back of the toilet myself, the tank wouldn't fill with water. I called Kempton and Self and was told it would be an after hours charge. Without getting the toilet fixed, I wouldn't be able to use it during the long Labor Day weekend. The technician came and immediately saw the problem. He was courteous and fixed the problem. As a courtesy, he waved the travel fee and just charged me at the overtime labor rate. He was delightful and encouraged me for trying to do the DYI job, despite needing expert eyes to do it correctly. read more

Hi, Never trust this company. My bathroom shower have a problem, i.e. no cold water. I called the company and the plumber came to check. They told me that my cold water pipe was clogged and the valve was also damaged. It required to change the whole shower system which costs $600. Later, I called another company to check it again. It turned out that I only need to replace the spindle, which is only $60. By the way, my shower model is the Symmons temptrol. read more

TOTALLY OVERPRICED! The 14.50 "miscellaneous" fee is laughable in that in 2017 that same fee was 10.50. I was told by, I assume, Cory, that afterhours is 291.00. When the plumber arrived 45 minutes later, he told me it was a flate rate of 418.50. Toilet backed up, never flushed slowly to signify a totally full septic tank. It is over half full, but not to the point where it is causing issues. A root joint problem is what was causing the problem. The plumber stated that he could drop a camera down to take a look, not mentioning that it would cost me 98.00. Anyway, I called to see if the owner would adjust the pricing. I was told no. Even though he could, he wouldn't. I live 0.3 miles from the business in Archer, but was also charged 15.00 in fuel. I found a better plumber that will charge me 85.00 after hours. This is who I will use from now on. The reason why I couldn't use him was because he was 2 hours away. Thinking that I would support a local business, I called Kempton. Never again, I even mentioned this company to someone in Gainesville, that person started laughing stating that it's a huge mistake using them, as I found out. They say they go above and beyond to help their customers, which is total BS. The business is being run into the ground per many that I have spoken to. Do yourself a favor and stay far far away from this business as they are only care about how much money they can make for themselves. read more

I have used Kempton & Self twice in the past two weeks. First was an issue with my office, and the other was at my house. They respond very quickly, work quickly, do a very good job. Joe responded to both of our calls. Very polite and great job cleaning up after his work. The lady at their office was wonderful about letting me know when they would be at my home. I have no reservations recommending them to others. read more

Excellent experience once again. This time with Jet. These guys are not cheap but they get it done right the first time. Worth every penny.

WOW. Leak in front yard from old sprinkler system. Of course it was after-hours but Jacob returned my call within 10 min and Jet appeared at my house shortly after. Spent about an hour to localize leak and fix pipe. Jet was efficient, personable, very pleasant and the cost was reasonable. Now less than 2 hours after the problem was discovered it is fixed. Will definitely call them for future plumbing needs!! read more

We called Kempton & Self Plumbing Service to get some annoying things fixed. Kitchen sink drained slowly, bathroom sink drained slowly, garbage disposal not working properly, had some leaky faucets. They showed up on time, had EVERYTHING they needed, including a new disposal, and fixed everything with no problems. They are responsive, reliable and so helpful! They were very fast professional and knowledge. This was on Friday of Memorial Day weekend. We were very impressed and satified.

We had a great experience with Kempton & Self Plumbing Services. We had a water-main leak at our house, and initially had another company (Quality Plumbing) come and look at it, but they were not polite and weren't able to fit us in until almost a week later. We called Kempton & Self Plumbing Services and they were here within the hour. The plumber was extremely nice and communicated with us throughout the process. He was able to have it repaired quickly and for a fair price. We highly recommend their work! read more

I bought a fixer-upper and decided to get rid of the Poly-B pipes that had sprung 2 leaks for the prior owners. I went with Kempton & Self mainly because of the name, They are a long-time company in Alachua county and they have a solid reputation. More than reading the reviews, I asked around and they came highly recommended. Cory did the walk thru because I was at work when this 3-4 day job was being done. He brought his team of Jet and Joey who did much of the work. They were all extremely helpful in telling me where the placement of the pipes were and they even made a few minor adjustments to make things even better. I have a ten year warranty and they stand behind the work. I feel that if you have a plumbing need, Cory will go above and beyond to make sure the job is done right. For example, my house is under much construction, and he offered to come back thru for a final walk-thru once my new bathroom is in just to make certain all is in good working order and that I am satisfied. Thanks to Cory, Jet, Joey and to Dana and Lisa in the office, I appreciate all you have done to help me get this house re-plumbed. I highly recommend Kempton and Self! read more

Absolutely the best plumbing service in Gainesville period. They repiped my house and were very professional, clean and fast. Completed the job in less time than expected (3 days), and were a joy to have the team in my house. read more

It took them 4 visits and 2 plumbers to fix a leaking toilet. They also over-charge. Watch out for the extra $10.50 "miscellaneous fee" for cleaning up, even when the job takes less than 5 minutes and there is no mess. read more

Kempton plumbers were not interested in listening to what I wanted them to do in updating my bathroom. They wanted to do what they wanted to do regardless of what I said. I found this appalling because I was paying them. The quality of work did suffer because the plumbers did not listen. read more

Exceptional customer service and highly knowledgeable plumbers at good, fair price. From my experience, I'd highly recommend them to anyone, or at least suggest that you get an estimate from these guys. read more

I would NOT recommend Kempton. One of their plumbers caused a flaming fire in our closet due to improper soldering requiring me to get a fire extinguisher. When I requested another plumber they were defensive, unapologetic and did not inquire about the damage. They expected FULL payment before services were rendered thus compromising quality. They were NOT responsive to questions. After scheduling an appointment in the prior week they cancelled it 30 minutes before the scheduled time. I would give them less than one star if this was possible! read more

11-15-16 Needed a plumber and Kempton & Self was the only one able to respond on this day.Shut off valve for toilet not shutting off water and fill valve defective. Plumber replaced fill valve and shut off valve. He also replaced the flapper. The flapper did not need to be replaced and the new flapper leaked as the chain was too tight. The problem, as I discovered later, was that the new flapper was defective and leaked. Kempton offered to send a plumber out to fix the problem, but I had another flapper on hand and replaced the defective item.I paid a lot of money for this house call that really did not completely satisfy my problem. read more

I heard great things about Kempton and Self so when I needed a plumber this is who I choose. They were a little pricy but the work was done quickly and the fellow they sent out was very nice. Unfortunately my problem came with the billing. I paid the 'Final Invoice' and just recently received another bill from Kempton for an additional $250 (in addition to the $600+ I'd already paid several months earlier). When I called to inquire I was told that the $250 was what I had been charged to have the fellow come out and try to fix it. The $600+ I'd already paid that was marked 'Final Invoice' was what it cost to fix the problem. They've also apparently been charging me late fees for not paying the bill in full and will continue to charge me these late fees until it's paid. I will never use them again nor will I recommend them to anyone I know. I feel deceived. Buyer Beware read more
