Menards is a great place to go for painting needs and help in that area. My husband and I can…read moreusually find the items we are looking for and they have a large selection. I really like the selection of cleaning products. Only thing negative is that the parking lot is pretty large and filled and you have to really be careful of cars backing out, turning, etc

1 Star -- Menards Lost a $50,000 Renovation Customer Over $68.72…read more I am beyond disappointed and furious with my recent experience at Menards in Wausau. I spent over $1,600 on building materials, using a previous rebate of less than $70 toward my purchase. After spending over an hour in the lumberyard locating and loading materials, I discovered that the last item on my list had ZERO inventory available, despite Menards having just sold it to me. We selected an alternative product, thinking this would be a simple adjustment. I couldn't have been more wrong. Despite having registers throughout the store and an employee in the yard providing documentation of exactly what we had picked up, we were required to trek all the way from the lumberyard to the front of the store to customer service to process a "return" for merchandise MENARDS SOLD ME BUT DID NOT HAVE IN STOCK! And here's where it gets even worse. Rather than refunding the $68.72 to my original payment method, Menards issued me a store credit, apparently because I had used a rebate toward my original purchase. When I questioned this, the cashier, Jojo, couldn't have seemed less concerned. Her response? "I don't decide where the rebate credits to." No apology. No attempt to find a solution. No offer to involve a manager. Just complete indifference. I would have pushed the issue further right then and there, but there were approximately 10 customers waiting behind me, and I wasn't about to inconvenience them because of Menards' poor customer service and ridiculous policies. Let me get this straight: Menards sells me merchandise it doesn't have, wastes over an hour of my time, sends me across the store to correct THEIR inventory mistake, and then refuses to return my money? I wasn't returning merchandise because I changed my mind. I NEVER RECEIVED IT BECAUSE MENARDS DIDN'T HAVE IT! How is it acceptable to force a customer to accept store credit for merchandise the store failed to provide? What makes this especially unfortunate for Menards is that I am preparing to undertake a $50,000 business renovation, with substantial building materials yet to be purchased. After this experience, Menards will not receive another penny of that business. I will return exactly once, to spend the $68.72 in store credit they forced on me. After that, I won't purchase so much as a single nail from this company. Menards just lost a $50,000 renovation customer over $68.72, an inventory failure, an unreasonable refund policy, and a cashier who couldn't have cared less. Customer service isn't just about having policies. It's about having the common sense and willingness to make things right when YOUR business makes a mistake. Absolutely unacceptable.
