Great lobster roll & fried scallops! Their tartar sauce is also homemade & very tasty! My family says their fried shrimp is the best around!

I'm from LA and heard about this spot on the Travel Channel and now I'm wondering if the Travel Channel is running out of places to promote and is just pushing everyone. Is this roast beef good? Sure. But, good as in a notch or two up from Arbys, rather than you have to eat here if you are from out of town good. The roast beef sandwich comes on a roll that tastes like it came from Arbys, but the beef is much better. It's good and tasty, but not 'oh my, this is amazing' food. And, the french fries and onion rings are no different than some fast food chain. Let's be real here. If you are driving down the highway this place blows away all the fast food spots, but it isn't more than a notch above them. Give it a 3. Sadden me to give this place a star since 15 years ago it was my to go spot for seafood and roast beef. The quality is going down hill! I went to check it out today for lunch and the service was terrible . Here is my story: I asked the manager if I can get anything else instead of fries on the fish plate and she kept telling me different answers and confusing information. I just settled for fish with onion rings since i felt she was getting frustrated. as she was walking away, she shouted loudly and rudely: "I don't make the rules here" how rude of you to say that. You just ruined the great service I used to get here. I guess if the manager is rude and doesn't care about the place, the employees won't either. You lead by example! Now let's talk about the pricey food: roast beef cold and tiny portion for $12. Fish tasted like if was frozen and fried since it had some weird markings on it and soggy as hell! Prices are outrageous!!! Clam chowder small cup for $7, $10 for a bowl forget it. It doesn't even taste good. There is new and upcoming places in this area that have better seafood and roast beef ( Mike's roast beef and Glen's roast beef are both amazing!!) For the love of God have they gone down hill. Received overcooked beef and did not get served light mayo but more like a mountain of mayo! SoS always but I guess you need to order extra because one seems appropriate NOT!!! Honestly the prices have always been jacked up since I've been a child (35 now). Been going to Kelly's for years now. My biggest critique is that their roast beef quality is inconsistent. When the beef is good, it really is the best roast beef sandwich anywhere. But 40-60% of the times it's just not good, i.e. fatty & overcooked. But that other 40%, like I said amazing! Take a chance, I do. The burger is also a must have, as it is absolutely delicious. Shrimp, and scallops are a bit expensive but the portion is good. The clam chowder is ok. Overall, Kelly's is one of my favorite places. I'm a night owl so being open till 3am is a plus. read more

This was by far the worst lunch I've ever had. I ordered the crab roll which tasted like air. In other words BLAND. Tasteless So my husband exchanged it for the scallop plate. A true grease fest. The scallops were tough and dry and the batter was over browned and greasy Unlike the pale undercooked French fries. I would never eat there again. Oh did I mention the outrageous prices. For what it was. Not worth it I can't even give it one star. No wonder there wasn't a crowd there on a Saturday between 1230 and 1. Avoid ordering deliveries from this restaurant and if purchase in person check your bags before leaving. I am always missing items from my orders. My last four orders have been incomplete. On 30 July 2022, I called the restaurant to inform them that I was missing 2 mac and cheese. The manager on duty stated that there is nothing he can do. I explained that I was frustrated because there is a history of them sending me incomplete orders. He then went on to blame the dasher/delivery driver by stating that the order was complete when it left the store. There's nothing quite like a visit to Kelly's. The place is a New England original that hasn't lost its feel even as they've updated and modernized it over the years. The roast beef is fantastic. Juicy, flavorful and perfectly cooked. I do wish that you could still get BBQ sauce at the pump station alongside the ketchup, but I understand why. People suck. The people who work there are great. They're friendly and helpful, the service is prompt and they bring your meal out to your table. I love their soda machines. They have the fancy automated ones that will mix any sort of drink you'd like. Lastly, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the regulars. Not many places left outside of Eastie and Southie where you can overhear old school townies chatting over the news of the day or just generally busting on one another. It's a treat. I don't know what it is about this particular Kelly's, but every time I go here for a roast beef sandwich which is supposed to be there standard, I end up getting a sandwich that is really some of the worst roast beef I've ever had. The roast beef is thick cut, gray, rubbery, and tasteless...no joke. It's like this each time I've been, end up throwing most of sandwich away.. My husband and I were Kelly's fans for over 20 years but I guess its true that all good things must come to an end. We've seen many changes, bad customer service, inept help, incorrect orders, high prices, poorer quality food but the last straw was my grilled Reuben sandwich. The corned beef tasted awful, I mean like it was bad. I'm not a fussy person but I honestly couldn't eat it and ended up throwing it away. I emailed Kelly's to tell them of my experience with the suggestion that they look into a better quality control program to minimize the chance of this ever happening again. Recently went to your location in 595 broadway, i usually go to the one on the beach...but happen to be driving thru, so i stopped, u have some of the rudest drive thru staff in the world, a young kid even came out to scold me because i didn't park where he told me to. all i saw is 5people drive in front and my food order was still not ready, not only that but i had no napkins no nothing in the bag, no sauces after i had asked for some. it was the worst service. even burger king does a better job ! and your food was okay. not even great. i got it cold and the fries were gross. i don't know if this is what your serve everyday but if the service had been at least good i wouldn't mind trying it twicee. read more

I'm pretty disappointed with this location! It clearly states on their website they are open every day from 10 AM to 3 AM. So I got in my car and drove 20 minutes to this location to get some food since I have not had time to eat today with my busy schedule, as I pulled in all the lights were on and there was a sign that said drive-through closes at 1 AM. I proceeded to walk in to place my order because at this point it was around 1:10 AM doors were locked so I called the restaurant and I believe Nick answered the phone and said oh we closed at 1 AM tonight and I simply said wow you guys clearly need to change your business hours because this is not cool for somebody to drive 20 miles to this establishment just to find out they closed early. Kelly's has got a big reputation but continuously disappoints. The staff is always friendly and the place is very clean, but the food is overpriced and spotty. It is convenient and there is lots of parking, but there are better options nearby. The most memorable thing about it is they have a great aquarium to entertain the kids. read more

If it was an option I would give it a zero for stars. We ate a roast beef sandwich which the bun was hard the roast beef was bland. The item was cold we sent it back. They said they put fresh product on my plate. It still tastes like it was sitting under a hot lamp. Very pour quality. My wife's burger was cold. I talked to a manager she offered me a comp, I said I did not like it the first time, so I don t want come back again. There was nothing else she could do. Have not been to a Kelly's in awhile. My wife and I used to visit the Natick location once in awhile and always loved it. Same for this location in Saugus. Very good service, kept clean and the roast beef is out of this world. Wish Walt's here in RI was even half as good as Kelly's. I LOVE Kelly's. I'm reviewing the Saugus one because I hate the beach and I hate Revere, so I never go to the one by the beach. Also, I love that Saugus has a drive thru because I, like 90% of America, am extremely lazy and do not want to get out of my car and wait inside. Also, I'm not reviewing Kelly's for their roast beef because I've never had it. Why, you ask? Because their chicken finger/grilled cheese plates are like heaven in my mouth and I would never get anything different. Ever. Lately, they tell you that you have to pay extra money for extra tarter sauce. I would give them one less star for that, but I secretly think they made that rule because of me (Yeah, one time the guy at the window gave me 10 tarter sauces, not kidding). To sum up this review, Kelly's is awesome and delicious and they just so happen to be open until 2AM. What more could you ask for? read more

Kelly's Roast Beef makes a great roast beef sandwich. They also make an excellent clam chowder. Kelly's is a small chain of restaurants in the Boston area. They specialize in roast beef and seafood. Think very upscale fast food. This particular location is huge. Is very clean with good service, a drive thru is also provided. As for the food, I have sampled the roast beef, clam chowder, onion rings and fries. The roast beef is perfectly cooked medium rare, sliced thin and super tender. Priced at $7.75 the large sandwich is stuffed full of thinly sliced beef. It's a great deal in my opinion. The chowder has a great fresh clam flavor, big chunks of clams and potatoes. Maybe a little pricey at $5.50, but not bad for such quality. Both get 5 stars 1 star lost for very average fries and onion rings. My advice, get a roast beef and cup of chowder and forget the fries and rings. The beef and chowder are hard to beat. read more

The Kelly's on Route 1 is the funnest of all the locations. It has a cool old school set up with tons of memorabelia from Revere in the early 1900's and they have several awesome fishtanks. Another new addition to the location is a new kind of soda machine by Coke that somehow spits out over a hundred different kinds of soda, very cool. On to the food, can't go wrong here. Some of my favorites are the Surf n' Turf (mini lobster roll and roast beef sandwich), cheeseburger, and fried clams. read more

Also, they shoulda put the restaurant on the northbound side, and yeah I know, it's possible to cross over the highway, but the bridge blocks out the view of the restaurant until one is basically past the exit, and so you don't think about it til it's too late. Went to Kelly's last night ONLY because it was the only place heading into Boston that was open at 11:30pm for something on the quicker side. We got: 2 Large Beefs, onion rings and a medium clam strip. Starting with the Large Beefs: COLD. Huge disappointment. The sandwich comes in a plastic container and stands far too upright to be a true North Shore roast beef sandwich. Onion Rings- Very heavy fried coating that tasted like it was the culmination of all the fried pieces that end up on the bottom of the fryalator. Also, a huge let down. The clam strips- We knew when we ordered these that they probably weren't going to come anywhere near as good as Farnhams, Woodmans, Essex Seafood etc., but we didn't think they would be nearly as bad as they were. (especially for the $20 price tag!) The batter was again very thick and heavy and the "clams" were hard and chewy. It's a really good thing I like tartar sauce so much because that, and the ketchup, were about the only things that tasted good our of our whole meal. Oh, and of course the Fountain Diet Coke. So- next time you find yourself thinking about pulling into a Kelly's RB, DON'T. You'll leave angry and unsatisfied and you'll probably end up looking for directions to Nick's Roast Beef in Beverly- which is simply the best. read more

Kelly's used to be good. Now, not so good. Roast beef is thick, onion rings over cooked. You have people working there that don't know what there are doing. I ordered a buffalo chix sandwich that costs 10 bucks, no buffalo sauce, all lettuce and not a very good taste. Blue cheese is low grade. In this area there is 15 roast beef places, all of which are better than Kelly's. Do your self a favor and hire people that know what they are doing. Grew up in Revere haven't been to Kelly's in ages. Was looking forward to their always great food. Went to route 1 with husband roast beef was over cooked, microwaved and like rubber. Ordered clam tenders anything but tender. Was like eating rubber bands. The tarter sauce was so thick that if you dipped the clams it pulled off all the batter.
