My dog Burt is very happy with his cake. I will definitely order from here again! The owner was very sweet and happy to customize my order!

Title: Extremely Disappointing and Unprofessional Experience at PetSmart in Gastonia…read more I am extremely disappointed by the way I was treated during my recent visit to the PetSmart in Gastonia. What should have been a simple purchase of a small goldfish and a 10-gallon tank turned into one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I have had. I waited approximately 15 minutes for the salesperson, Vaniya, to come from the back and assist me. When she finally approached me, the first thing she said was, "WHAT DO YOU NEED?" The tone was extremely rude and immediately made me feel unwelcome. I explained that I wanted to purchase a small goldfish and a 10-gallon tank. Vaniya refused to sell me the fish because she said the tank was too small and that I needed another tank. When I questioned this, she told me that it was Corporate policy not to sell a fish to someone unless their tank was already set up. I explained that I already have a tank at my office and that I was purchasing the fish for my grandchildren, with the intention of putting the fish in my tank at the office. Instead of working with me or explaining the policy professionally, she told me NO and said that because she now knew I did not have a tank set up at home, I would have to show her that I had a tank before she would sell me the fish. This became even more concerning when my husband called the store to speak with her. During that conversation, Vaniya initially stated that she was the manager. However, I later learned that the actual manager was off and would not be back until Saturday. Because I wanted to understand whether this really was a Corporate policy, I contacted another PetSmart location on South Blvd and spoke with both an associate and a manager. I was told that refusing to sell the fish under these circumstances was not Corporate policy. By the way, they were extremely nice! That raises a very serious question: Why was I given information that another PetSmart manager said was not Corporate policy? I have no problem with a store having legitimate animal-welfare requirements. In fact, I respect responsible pet ownership. What I do have a problem with is being spoken to disrespectfully, being made to wait, being refused a purchase, and then being given what appears to be conflicting information about company policy. I left the store feeling humiliated, frustrated, and completely disrespected as a customer. This was over a simple fish purchase, yet the interaction became unnecessarily confrontational. There was also another lady there with her 3 small daughters and when overhearing our conversation, she walked out as well. PetSmart needs to look into what happened at this location and determine whether employees are being properly trained on company policies and, more importantly, on how to treat customers with basic courtesy and respect. Vaniya, I came into your store to make a purchase--not to be interrogated, talked down to, or treated as though I was doing something wrong. I hope corporate management takes this complaint seriously and reviews what happened. Customers should not have to call another location just to find out whether the policy they were given is actually a PetSmart policy. Gastonia PetSmart -- this experience needs to be addressed.
