Dog almost died, Emergency Surgery…read more On June 17th, 2026 Our dog, Phoebe, unfortunately had to undergo emergency surgery due to the lack of clarity and responsibility of the Woof Den. Upon arrival, the application stated she is prone to eating foreign objects (i.e. "stuff on the ground"). At some point during the night she chewed and ate the plastic baseboard in her room and after the staff realized this first thing in the morning they still did not notify us until 12:21pm. They stated she was doing totally fine, nothing is wrong, she probably puked it all back up. They even tried to feed her twice during that day and let her run around and play with all of that plastic in her stomach. When we were finally notified about 6 hours after they discovered what happened, we requested photos because the information we received wasn't clear. The girl on the phone said she ate "wood" and it was about "1 foot". After 1 hour of receiving no photos from then we had to call back and text before receiving a photo. We then discovered it was way more than a foot and it wasn't wood, it was plastic. When speaking with a man named James, during pickup that afternoon, he told us there were rooms in another area that had tile on the floor and up the walls and we were left wondering why she was not placed in those rooms first after stating she is prone to eating foreign objects. (Because we aren't allowed back into the boarding area, we had no clue that there was anything for her to eat in the rooms) She puked up her dinner that evening, then puked up handfuls of plastic all night long so we decided time to go to the emergency vet. They did scans and found that her stomach was packed entirely full with the plastic and the best option was immediate surgery. After seeing how much the doctor removed and receiving pictures from the wolf den it became clear she ate about 2.5 feet of the plastic baseboard. The Woof Den would not comply after weeks of us trying through countless phone calls and emails, even though it was stated through verbal communication and the information provided on her paperwork about her separation anxiety and tendencies to eat things. We were forced to pay for the emergency surgery out of pocket with zero compensation from the Woof Den. Upon further review after this incident we have found that The Woof Den has had several Civil Penalties with the NC Department of Agriculture.

The set up is great, though it can be tough to spot on your first time in. They're at the roundabout for Morrison Plantation - behind the Mountain outdoors store and Brewsters Ice Cream, between a nail salon and the popcorn shop. It's small and unassuming but also very intimidate. The dogs are always smiling when I go in there - if you have a dog you know what I mean by "smiling!" Rather than crate the doggies, Amber and her team let them stay in the shared open area behind a nice gate so they don't escape through the front door. Her prices are reasonable, and they will bath or groom your fur baby however you like it. They are very accommodating. They also offer add on services like nail painting and tooth brushing for a nominal price. My fur baby is always excited to see me when I pick her up, but I know she's been treated well because she doesn't miss a beat when we pick her up. No more scared or shaking baby! That's how I know they're loving. I also happen to know that the owner is a true lover of animals. She regularly fosters dogs in need, and often brings her fur babies for a play date. All the doggies get along, and take it from me, because admittedly my fur baby is antisocial with other dogs but does fine here. I'm particular about her haircut - short around the mouth, no perfumes added, no mustachy cut (she's a poodle and sometimes the teddy cuts look like a mustache to me,) and be patient and gentle with her. The girls here always cater to my requests so I always make sure to tip because they're prices are reasonable and they go the extra mile. I'm very happy with them! They can get all of the tasks done in a short time if necessary, but sometimes we even book extra time just so they can spend more time playing and petting. They usually send the same sitter, but when they have to send someone else they make sure to do a meet and greet so everyone is comfortable, including Rebel. Rebel loves her "Bunnysitters", especially Bridget and Maria, and we love them too because they keep her out of trouble and keep us updated with lots of photos during our time away!

They told me I need mental help because I called to inquire about my dog no acting right after being picked up. I stated he couldn't walk, and we had to take him to the Emergency room to find out that they were twisting the story and saying my dog was paralyzed. I have recording of all of it, if they will not accept accountabily I will make sure to post it. They put a choker around his neck after being asked multiple times to not do that. They never expressed that they had any issues when picking my dog up. Let me state That I was trying to call the correct Groomers to just be insulted I would never bring my dog here with the malicious customer service.
