We stumbled in after a huge breakfast from The Flying Biscuit because of a 50-75% off sale sign. Those things always get me! We were shopping on the regular boutique side when a couple of dresses peaked our interest. Both of us are brides to be but I already have my dress, and she wanted a non-traditional one. Low and below my friend found an amazing Grecian looking periwinkle dress and although it was pricey ($800 on sale), she had been looking for a wedding dress for quite some time. I also found a dress for my reception dinner which was also on sale ($75). I'm not really sure what the big difference was but I'm happy to say that we both love our dresses. The staff was very helpful in helping clip and raise the dresses so that we would be able to see what they would look like after alterations. Another thing that I liked was that there were not at all pushy! I also had the chance to roam towards the bridal side of the store and I must say that those dresses are EXPENSIVE. Being from Atlanta, I expected more from this place... My fiance and I walked into this store totally on a whim. I wasn't expecting much... Maybe a "welcome in," or "Hello," you know... not too much to ask when I am thinking of patronizing your store. The bridal assistants that were in the store looked my way and turned their noses up to us. Maybe it was because I didn't "look like money," as I was coming out of Dr. Bombay and not in my Sunday's finest, not with my mother or mother-in-law, nor a bunch of back-biting females, what do you call them these days... bridesmaids? I was very disappointed to say the least, as I was wanting to kick-start my wedding planning by going somewhere local and with a hometown feel. I will NEVER set foot back in this place. I felt very unwelcomed, as if I was setting foot in an elitist club and I wasn't in the "in club." I was looked on as "the help" not as a patron of this establishment... Never-mind the fact that, despite the jeans and a sweatshirt that I had on, I could have easily bought the dress I desired TODAY with no reservation. This place will NEVER GET MY MONEY and I advise anyone that has plans to go there to run for the hills. Try your luck a little further north... let's say Roswell. I came to this bridal salon for the first time this past weekend for a visiting friend who was recently engaged. Its tucked in the Candler Park neighborhood, right next to Dr. Bombay (which we went to right before our appointment and I completely recommend doing that, as well!). The store is beautiful and has a ton of dresses without being overwhelming. For my friend's very first bridal appointment, this was a great experience. We got to look around the store and try on at least a dozen dresses without ever feeling rushed or pressured to buy. This is definitely the place to come if you're looking for something a little different (also, tons of dresses with sleeves, which, in my experience, isn't super common either). Kudos to our consultant, Natalie. It was a very relaxing experience. We even got champagne and a few olives and crackers to munch on. The only things I would caution people about is the price point and sizing. The dresses we picked ranged from around $3k to $7k. That is fairly typical for high end bridal, but there were a few dresses whose price caught us off guard. And for sizing, sample gowns will almost never fit perfectly on anyone and they do their best to show you how the dress will fall in the right size, but if you are a plus size bride, there may not be as many options. There is street parking available very close to the store. I've never had any issues parking in the surrounding neighborhood. read more

I live 3,000 miles away in the Bay Area, but scheduled an appointment with Kelly's Closet while visiting family so I could be accompanied by Mom and some bridesmaids. I chose the salon under the assumption that any store far away from The Mall and very close to the Flying Biscuit couldn't be a bad place to start wedding gown shopping--and the charming shop exceeded my expectations. I was assisted by the fabulously helpful and patient Jenny, who ensured that my experience was perfectly pleasant from start to finish. Jenny helped me in and out of what amounted to over 20 dresses (what?? I was sure it had been no more than eight), educated me about fabric selections and designer detailing (as well as the details that account for all those zeros on the price tag: "Hmm, so, this lining's 100% silk, and that dress's was polyester? Ok, fine, I'm sold."), and she led me on a journey from my original desire for lace and beading, to a surprising final favorite: a beautifully simple, silk taffeta Jenny Lee gown. Kelly's Closet's selections run the gamut from the exquisitely detailed column gowns of Claire Pettibone, to Jenny Lee's more structured silhouettes, so I feel confident my shopping experience was complete. Even when I returned to San Francisco and visited a local upscale salon (just to be sure!), nothing I tried on there felt any more special than the gowns I had already worn at Kelly's Closet--and the level of service just couldn't compare to my time with Jenny. I felt no pressure from Jenny to purchase that dream gown on the spot: she assured me that long distance transactions were not a problem for the salon, so it wouldn't be an issue to take my time, search around some more, and call back when I was ready to buy. Even better, she let me know months ahead of time that the gown could be offered at a discount during the Jenny Lee trunk show this weekend. I've just happily sealed the deal with both Jennys, and can't wait to receive the dress in a few months. I've popped into Kelly's so many times to try on different dresses, and each time I had great experiences. I did ultimately buy my dress there, but even the previous times the staff and owner were so helpful, and I never felt pressured to buy anything, or that I was wasting their time as I browsed. I'd been to a lot of trendy bridal shops in Atlanta, and every time I felt like I was being judged the whole time, how much could I afford, was I going to buy this day or not, was I cool enough, but not here. There's a reason Kelly's is an Atlanta institution. They are an amazing staff, a beautiful store, and a wide range of price points. Very happy to have found my dress through them. I could not have had a better experience at Kelly's Closet. Meredith helped me find the perfect dress, and was not pushy like other assistants I dealt with at other bridal boutiques. There was a mistake made with the hem that I did not notice until two weeks before my wedding. Although it was a minor flaw, the ladies at Kelly's Closet made sure it was perfect because it was not how I wanted it. The dress was ready to go well before the wedding, and I really appreciated the excellent customer service. Despite being in a temporary space, the staff has been incredibly responsive even though their phone is still in their old office. When I was shopping, I hated how sales people would try and get so many details about my personal life to try and form a connection. The shopping experience at Kelly's is simple because the dress selection speaks for itself! I got my unique liancarlo dress here last December and I loved how they did alterations on site. Kelly monitored my alterations process from start to finish and provided me with advice when no one could attend appointments with me. One thing to keep in mind was I went on a Saturday, which I believe would be hectic at any bridal salon you go to. I went to Kelly's Closet because I really liked the brands they carried. When we arrived we were quickly attended to (maybe a little too quick, while we were in our consultation the store manager came to our consultant and politely (but firmly) asked her not to leave the front store unattended-- oops!). We went around, and I quickly found that the items in the store would be out of my range. I found a few dresses to try, and I think because of the type of the fabric the dresses looked a little worn and I could tell they had been tried on *numerous* times. I tried to overlook that and just imagine the dress impeccable. This place can get crowded easily. And when I was there there were four groups, which I think is their capacity. Overall, I didn't find The Dress there, but their service was excellent, and I give them props for handling the store as they did on a very very busy day. read more

I really had a great experience at Kelly's Closet. The most awesome of all of my bridal shop experiences? No. But really great and four-star-appropriate. Definitely recommendation worthy. By the time I arrived at Kelly's Closet, I was thoroughly confused about the style of dress that I wanted. They have lots of incredibly beautiful dresses, and as a result, the price range of their dresses gets a bit high (and by a bit high, I mean that some of those dresses are worth more than my car, but more stunning than the 80,000 miles worth of scenery and hundreds of sunrises my car has seen). That said, I told Natalie what my budget was, and she was completely respectful of it. No sneaky attempts to accidentally walk the more expensive dresses through my fitting room like other shops. Natalie even pointed out cons to one dress in particular when I unintentionally became enamored with a swiss dot fabric on a dress out of my budget. Because all of their dresses are beautiful, every dress that I tried on was also beautiful. I didn't find "my dress" at Kelly's Closet, but I left with photos of the dresses that I really liked, a list of the designers they carry dresses in my price range so I could keep an eye out online for new styles, and an overall pleasant, happy feeling. It has been almost one year since I got married, but I have wanted to give praise to the very nice and helpful assistant Kate. I wanted to support this local boutique because the window displays are always gorgeous and their dresses are definitely not your cookie cutter design. I was looking for a dress that was not straight out of a bridal magazine (although they have those too, if that is what you want). I made an appointment in advance. My sister and best girlfriend flew in from California to accompany me on my dress shopping. Kelly's Closet was the first place we went to and we had such a wonderful time. Kate really knew how to make me feel special. I did not really know what type of dress I wanted at that point and she was very patient and helped me to try on several different styles. This was my first experience trying on a wedding dress and she truly helped to make the experience memorable, special and fun for me, my sister and best friend. Kelly's closet was the worst experience I had picking out a wedding dress. The sales associates were not helpful at all. We sat waiting for them for 15 minutes, they asked many questions about what I was looking for and budget and then didn't provide a single suggestion or even point me toward an area of the store where I would find what I was looking for. I had called in advance to let them know I am a plus size bride (size 16) and ask i would have any trouble trying on dresses. They said it would be no problem. Well, I couldn't even get my arms through the sample size dress they had me try on, and then they wanted me to walk all the way across the store in front of the many other shoppers with my boobs hanging out to show my friends the dress. I bought my wedding dress here years ago before I was a yelper, but every time I pass by the place on my way to work, I look into the window and am reminded of the most wonderful experience I had there. I tried on 3 dresses before I found the one I loved and every time I tried one on, Kelly helped me to hone in on the one that was for me. Luckily, the dress that I loved was exactly my size and was on sale because it was the floor model! After going to several places and being pushed into making a decision on my bridal gown, me and my dress shopping crew (my mom, matron of honor, and future mother-in-law) came here worn out and ready to give up on finding a dress. At first glance inside, my matron of honor and I thought it was a cute boutique. However, my mom and future mother-in-law thought differently. The lady that greeted us was super nice and got the lady, Kaylan, who our appointment was with. Kaylan was very awesome! We picked out three dresses based on the styles I liked. She knew which one was my favorite and left it hanging in front of me while I tried on the first two dresses. The third one was my dress! It was like she knew or something! Kelly's Closet was simply wonderful!!! I can't say enough good things about this shop and all of their employees!! I called ahead and let them know that I was looking to try on dresses but I really wanted to include my 3 and a half year-old stepdaughter. My group included 4 close friends, 2 babies (9 months and 8 months), and a full blown mimosa bar that we came with in tow. The babies crawled around, my girlfriends had a blast and never had an empty glass, and my stepdaughter went back and forth between trying on a flower girl dress that they had in the shop and one that I brought for her - she was the center of the show which is exactly what I wanted! Lo was my consultant and I would never have known that I was her "first bride". The owner Kelly stayed close in case Lo had questions and both Kelly and Lo were fabulous! I'm also a unique bride because I have had a double mastectomy and breast reconstruction surgeries. I told them immediately that I didn't want anything strapless and wanted to be comfortable in covering my scars. This was my first bouquet to look for a wedding dress. I saw them on Instagram and decided to check them out (and their sample sale). I had Katie help me. She was super kind and never pushy with any of the dresses. They had a plethora of dresses but unfortunately, I wasn't able to find my dream dress. Even though I didn't find a dress, the staff was all really kind and accommodating. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because the parking is awful. First off let me say the designers the store has are quite wonderful. The dresses aren't the problem. The salesgirl was. Customer Service is just the most important facet of any business. I love local businesses and really wanted to support Kelly's but within 5 minutes of being in the store, I was not a happy camper. The saleswoman started off by standing less thana foot away from us the whole time which was too close for me but I get it, they're expensive dresses and whatnot. What really turned me off was when she decided it was necessary to tell me that I pronounced Claire Pettibone wrong and that she wasn't French when I was talking to my mom and not the saleswoman. Again I'm wrong a lot so it didn't bother me that much, but just the fact that the woman not only inserted herself in my conservation but corrected me when it really wasn't necessary just kinda rubbed me the wrong way. Beyond my own sour experience with their one staff member, the store did have a nice selection for brides, but only has one type of bridesmaid dress which is something I wish they had advertised. If you're in the market for a more unique and pricey dress this is a great shop with a hopefully friendlier staff than the woman I experienced, It definitely doesn't have the variety that bigger stores like Bridals by Lori has but something tells me if that route doesn't appeal to you, something in this store will. read more

Not only they never replied to my email but both times I called I was told that they were going to check the inventory and get back to me. They never did. My experience here was wonderful from start to finish! I live in DC, am getting married in DC, but wanted to do my dress shopping in Atlanta since my family and most of my bridesmaids are there. I called Kelly's Closet several months ago and explained my situation and they were great. A few places I called weren't helpful at all (one even told me buying a dress in Atlanta while getting married in DC was not smart), but that wasn't my experience at all with Kelly's. The girl I spoke to was friendly and laid out my options for me and made it seem like it would be an easy process. So fast forward a few months to my visit. When we arrived, we were immediately greeted and taken to our little space for dress shopping. Madison was wonderful! She allowed my bridesmaids, my mom, and my grandma to walk around and pick out dresses, while she and I walked around together picking things out. She was attentive and listened to my ideas and pulled a lot of dresses that I loved that I don't think I would have picked on my own. I also never felt pressured to buy a dress here. I found 2 dresses that I loved, but just wasn't quite ready to commit (this was my first shop and first time trying on wedding dresses). Madison took my measurements and wrote down the two dresses with all the details and told me to call or stop back by if I decided one of them was the one. The store itself is super cute too. When they're busy it's a little hard to look at some of the racks of dresses, but they've done a good job of really maximizing the space they have. One lady i. the back corner was wrapping up and the front person said I would be next. Kelly's Closet is a special place. I had the most amazing consultant (Katie). She made the experience an absolute joy. Every dress was more beautiful than the rest-I have a unique style and was always nervous that I would not find a dress I loved, but the Closet was a dream come true. They got my style immediately-listened to everything I had to say and my main concerns. Also, as someone who has struggled with body image it was such a validating and body positive experience. I chose to visit KC because I wanted to try Alexandra Greco gowns and I am so happy I did. They have a gorgeous selection and their team made the process extremely fun. I just went to Kelly's Closet and I had a wonderful time! Their customer service was incredible! The lady assisting me was extremely patient and kind and made me feel like a princess! The only thing I wish was different were the dress sizes. I'm not small, but I'm not big by any means and not one dress fit even close which was a little discouraging. It would be nice to have bigger sizes or more dresses with varying sizes so you can get a better picture of how the dress looks on you. The shop itself is adorable with a beautiful selection and a friendly staff. When I called to make my appointment I was very specific concerning what I was looking for and my size (14), because I live approximately 30 miles from the shop, and was assured that there would be a wide selection of gowns to try on. Unfortunately this was not the case at all. She showed me 2 gowns available in a 14 that were not the style I had discussed at all. I wouldn't have been upset had I not been very specific when booking my appointment. I would have much rather have been told that most of the sample dresses wouldn't work rather than drive 60 miles and have to walk out of the dressing room and embarrass myself with having to tell my party we would have to leave because nothing fit. read more

I recently visited Kelly's Closet to purchase jewelry for my upcoming nuptials. The first time I visited I was basically window shopping. I asked for prices on a few items, in which she took pictures of the items along with the price tag next to the item. When I returned back to actually purchase the items, I was told that the earrings were twice the price and the original sales person quoted the wrong price. Thank goodness I had the picture with price on my phone. Thankfully, the sales person said, "I'm going to do the right thing and honor the price you were originally quoted. Good place for the anti-bride. I got engaged Memorial Day and planned the wedding for the third weekend in October. When I went to 'traditional' wedding dress shops, I kept hearing 'no'. No, that wasn't enough time, no the dress wouldn't be ready, but yes, they could charge me an arm and a leg and maybe get something for me, but I had to buy that day. Discouraged, I went to Kelly's. Finally some normal women, not drones of the gigantic wedding industry. Kind, fun and honest, they told me what my deadlines were to get the dress and assured me it was very possible. They have a unique selection, some traditional, most not. It was not the most or least expensive dress I looked at, but relative to the service and experience I had in the store, it was the best value. They also told me I could try on any dress in the store even if it didn't fit my budget. The girl who helped me said we were there to play dress up. Everyone was honest, kind and helpful. I felt really comfortable and at ease. I had a wonderful time and really enjoyed it. I felt like they had some really unique dresses that you wouldn't find everywhere.
