Rob Kelly took care of my 1996 Saab 900SE convertible and my 2002 Audi A6 Avant Quatro....and these are not your typical cars. The jobs were BIG and I would have had to sell the car if I had been charged dealer prices or even those of other repair places. Rob rebuilt the SAAB transmission (saving me thousands) and was the only one who didn't break anything working on it. Then I bought an Audi....the owner didn't fix the window as planned; but rob was able to fix it with a spare part to something else, saving me tons on the dealer part kit. Rob installed new CAT converters in the Audi (after a dealership ruined them with a misdiagnosis)...and he could have charged me for the 02 sensor too, but he checked to make sure he didn't replace anything that didn't need to be replaced or could be fixed...so I passed my emissions. Later a leak developed in my transmission line and I freaked out and took it to a place close to work, so I didn't drive home. Their repair didn't work very well (still leaking); and Rob diagnosed it for free. (During one of my free oil changes at the dealership they didn't even notice it when I pointed it out). I've brought several cars to Rob's now and I wouldn't take it anywhere else. He is one of the friendliest mechanics you'll find, and is quite a character. A lot of people distrust mechanics, but Rob goes out of his way to make sure you are happy with the work done and does it at an affordable price. Rob is amazing. I'm a out of stater, from Alaska. My father is a master mechanic so any issues I had he would always fix. Well I'm 2500 miles away from home. And Rob said I'll take care of you. A bastardly fix on my car from the VW dealer they said 1K and a week. He got me right around half! Rob got me going in 3 days with things going wrong and he told me I'll get it taken care of and did. Brought my 2007 Ford fusion in which had brake problems. I thought it might've snapped the Breakline I wasn't sure...he took it and within an hour called me back told me I had a issue with a loose rear pin in my caliper... A very unusual issue to have with your brakes regardless he fixed the brakes ...they were good as new within a few hours for a very very cheap price excellent work I highly recommend them and would definitely go back! read more

Great high quality work for the cheapest price (most of the time) that I have been able to find. I found Rob by word of mouth, since I work on my own cars when I can and got to know the parts guys at O Reily's down the street from me. I have an older Honda and an older Jeep, that have been needing some work that is more difficult than I can fix. He has taken really good care of me for about 6 different major repairs for almost the last year. His shop is all business and not as polished as others, but Rob will take good care of you. The one thing you need to know, is that he is a one man shop so you need to understand that he is not always readily available and may work some odd hours. If you can tolerate that, you will be surprised at the quality at a very good price you will get for your repair. A very honest man. read more

I had been driving around with an intermittent electrical problem for months. A number of other mechanics had looked at the issue but hadn't been able to find the issue. Rob took the time to look a little further and solved the issue after what was probably between half an hour and an hour of work, then sent us on our way without charge (and we were on a roadtrip from Chicago - word of mouth wasn't going to do him any good). I have been taking my car to Kelly for 3 years now. Car shops usually try to take advantage of women but not here. Kelly is very knowledgable. I have a volkswagen Jetta and it's always been hard to diagnose issues with my car even when taking to VW dealership. Kelly explains everything in detail, calls and gives me estimates prior to doing any work. He goes above and beyond what any other car shop has done. He is always there to answer any questions I have and give me advice when needed on my vehicle. You can tell he takes great pride in his work. I've lived in Fountain Hills for more than five years and always seek to do business in town to support local business. I need repairs to my truck and went to Kelly's Automotive Services. I tried several times to reach them by phone, but was always put on hold. So I went to their shop and told them the repairs I needed. They said they would call me back and they never did. took my car in when we suspected an issue with the timing belt. let the shop know and hoped for the best. after waiting for some parts, the shop let me know my engine must've cracked when my car died. he recommended i scrap it and look for another car. my dad and i had a feeling he was wrong though, and boy are we glad we checked. the issue ended up being the fuel pump. $100 later and my car is fine. at first i thought all the cars out front were a sign of good business - until you realize it's the shop's graveyard of cars they "couldn't fix." i understand we're all human, but the fact that this shop told me my perfectly-fine volvo wagon was junk before at least suggesting other problems raises a huge red flag. read more

So, I'm from out of town and my car broke in Tempe on university. Worried about towing prices, I searched for the closest shop and came across this place. The owner was nice enough to tow my car to his shop on his own time but that's the only thing positive I can say. My distributor went bad and I needed to replace it. He quoted me NAPA's price of 400 for a rebuilt and 450 new. I opted to get the rebuilt because it was cheaper. After I drove away, the engine light came on. Went back to get it fixed, but it turned back on on my way back home. Came to my mechanic and said I had a bad distributor. Went to BAP and purchased a NEW distributor for under 200. Returned the Napa distributor and the invoice was for only 212. So my overall opinion of the place is very low. Totally screwed me out of $350.00. Thanks a lot for nothing. read more

Honestly, I use yelp all the time to find local places. but have never contributed a review of my own, I can tell you after my experience here I was compelled to do so because I have never had a better experience at a mechanic. Rob Kelly provides excellent, friendly service, I feel like I have found my permanent mechanic. Rob enjoys his work, and it shows. He actively communicated with me about my car repairs, he even let me text pictures so that he could give me a quote before I towed it in! He did the repairs quickly and constantly kept me updated on the status, which I really appreciate. His prices are extremely reasonable, he is totally honest about what repairs your car actually needs, and actively tries to find ways to save you money. My bill actually came in under what he quoted, which was cheap as it is. I highly recommend this shop. I you are looking for somewhere fancy that will charge you through the nose and try to upsell you on things you don't need, go somewhere else. But if you want someone with integrity, with 28 years of experience, who just wants to do the proper repairs and get your car back on the road, see Rob. (He even texted me the next day to check in to make sure it was running great!) For details on the repairs for those of you curious, see below: I took in my 99 Saab 9-3 after a bracket snapped of the engine, the car needed to be towed, so after reading a review for another Saab repair done at this shop I decided to call and get a quote. As I knew, European cars, especially older ones, can be a total pain in the ass and expensive to fix .Other shops quoted me anywhere from $500-$2500 for the repair, but Rob was able to diagnose the problem and actually ended up doing some welding to repair the original part rather than have to order an expensive $90 part. He only charged me for a couple hours labor, but I'm sure he probably spent much more time than that, not to mention the phone calls and texts to keep me updated with the work. I also forgot to mention he cleaned up the engine and replaced some hoses, and really took the time to explain and show me the work he did. I will be bringing my other cars here for work, and already have plans to bring the Saab back in to fix the power windows, which he has given me an extremely reasonable quote for, (most shops will charge you $300 for each window, and I can tell you his price is no where near that!) read more
