Keith was an amazing therapist and I was able to work through some things a few years back. He genuinely cared especially because I felt isolated at the time. His office was nice and I felt comfortable. read more

My 1st visit was very awkward. There was no introduction nor time to get to know each other but dived right in. As a spiritual counselor, I expected him to present himself in a manner that reflected as such but within a few minutes in, his language and behavior was not as expected. When I questioned his belief and background, he took offense. Said he could customize his approach and behavior to my comfortable level, background, and need. I wasn't looking for someone who said what I wanted to hear, put on an act/show, nor has a clear identity (confusing). I'm looking for someone who is genuine and firm in their ideas based on their belief and background and can apply them in our session with conviction. Overall, I felt our session was fake and questioned whether he truly has my best interest in mind or is just looking to gain another client. Do not recommend. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. During our second session he told a very inappropriate graphic "story" that didn't really illustrate anything helpful and I felt very uncomfortable that he thought I might find it helpful or entertaining to hear a story about graphic genitalia. Even worse than that terrible feeling was he didn't want to let me talk and was more interested in selling me a home emdr device- which possibly may have been helpful, but wasn't why I contacted an in-person therapist. I was so disturbed I didn't attempt to find another therapist for months despite truly needing help with my issues. Shame on him. read more

Very similar experience to Paul W. Would not recommend. Poor communication. No timely response. Canceled appointment 45 minutes prior to my scheduled appointment. Poor follow up. read more

I walked in and sat down. Dr Lawrence said hello and we talked for a few minutes then he lifted his leg up and farted really loud. That's not super professional but it was pretty funny. He said my problem was I don't have good boundaries and don't take things seriously. Good advice! read more

I know most people may not come to yelp for reviews on therapist.....we all like to be private especially when it comes to our mental health but I thought for me it's important to share what this man has done for my life thus far. Let me share my personal story with you....it's long, but it's important, well at least to me! In my 9-5 job, I sacrificed my mental peace and physical well being on a daily basis for nearly 16 years and it broke me. I was left injured, depleted and depressed and guess what NO ONE CARED. In 2014 I decided to start traveling and it gave me the ability to clear my mind from the static of work and the relentless stress and trauma that I faced daily while there. When I returned from a trip I was grateful for the experience, patient, renewed and restored and I was happier mom, wife, friend and employee! I was able to positively accept being unappreciated in my personal work environment and used my travels as a tool to motivate everyone around me. When my mother passed suddenly and tragically in 2015 I didn't get supported from my job, I received a worker supervisor conference for not being at work. I was processing her sudden death and all the responsibility that came with it. I was so numb. I never thought about therapy in real life because in all honesty, I thought it was bullshit. I felt as if they could not add to my life. Well obviously I ate those words. I start treating with Keith and although he doesn't know he gave me so much. My personal experience of expectations and judgement are improving. Now, I do something that makes me smile whether it's take a drive, a long walk, a short weekend trip or discover a new restaurant, I simply take care of me. I continue to travel, not because I am lucky, I travel because it's a part of my mental health cleansing! It's my church, my sanity, my way of processing this thing called life, the way I heal my hurt and pain. Everyday God gives me the CHOICE ( thanks Keith) to live repaired and renewed. I don't take it for granted anymore! I LIVE my very best life despite my continued struggle because I am able to process my emotional experiences differently and see my real value. This is the real beauty that Keith has exposed for me and for that I'm forever grateful. read more

Keith Lawrence - I'm finally able to smile.....and appreciate life. It's a privilege for me. - Psychologists Near Me - Long Beach, California

Keith has been an amazing influence in the healing journey as my children and I have navigated complex life circumstances. We had seen several other therapists and counselors with varied results before we moved to the area, and my children were not enthusiastic about meeting another one after their previous experience. The first day we met with Keith I saw an immediate improvement in my children's attitude. Keith has always connected well with my children and has incredibly accurate insight into the root of the attitudes and behaviors we were dealing with. He always offers helpful and effective strategies for me and for the kids. I am beyond grateful for the support he provides in our visits with him to me as a parent and in my own growth as a person. I highly recommend Keith for insight and assistance in any relationship challenge. He is authentic, engaging, insightful, professional, and an excellent communicator. The changes my family has seen in just a few months are truly phenomenal. read more

I made the decision to leave my previous long term therapist when there was no goal in sight, and she became a licensed "Life Coach". I should of known. Her office is on her yacht. But I digress... I made the call to see Keith and I was impressed that he was able to see me within 48 hours. After my initial visit with him I was fired up. I felt an energy within myself and he inspired me to prioritize my life. He has challenged me, given me a safe space to process my anxiety, and has instilled a calm confidence in me that I had been missing for such a long time. I've been going to him for over 6 months every week and I have noticed a huge difference in my anxiety and depression. I've recommended him to many of my friends and will continue to do so. With therapy its what you put in but to have a therapist who cares and is passionate about the work they do is truly admirable. read more

Oh boy where do I start... Dr. Lawrence will make you feel right away that you are not important. He has a full book of "50-60 patients" at any given time, yet he still somehow makes you feel even less significant. All of my appointments started late as I waited in the waiting room for Dr. Lawrence to let me in. He was unprepared as he caught up on my file as I took a seat and sat for a moment. He would ask me how I was and I felt encouraged, but the conversation quickly turned into a one-sided lesson based on his perspective. I was not sought to be understood whatsoever. The worst thing about visits with Dr. Lawrence is the way he talks to you. He asks hypothetical opinionated questions... You are expected to answer, but the truth is there is no correct answer but the one he will give you after making you feel stupid. No joke- He would talk about how he would play mental mind games and control experiments on other patients to make a point. He would laugh as he told these stories on how he would push patients until they got upset and left or broke down in tears. This is not ethical or sympathetic to those he should be trying to help. Once the session ends and you feel worse than you started, he'll ask to schedule your next appointment. This is seemingly a meaningless gesture, as he will text you on a weekend morning looking to create or change your schedule. I do not understand this. I knew I needed help from a qualified professional for the sake of myself, family, and friends. Sadly, Dr. Lawrence is anything but a professional. I highly recommend that prospective patients stay away from this office until Dr. Lawrence can remember that he is there to help, not to hurt, and get his business practices in order. read more

I would not recommend Keith Lawrence as a therapist. I had to ask him to send me my intake form after he promised to send me one. I only saw him twice, but each time he was late. He watched the clock above my head many times during both our sessions. It seemed as though he could not wait till the appointment was over. During the appointment he did offer some valuable suggestions, however, he turned on his computer to show me TED talks. It would be find to suggest to watch a specific TED talk, but to spend valuable time in a one on one therapy context seems like a way to skirt your responsibility. On my second appointment, he forgot to set up our next meeting. Afterwards, I texted him about setting up another appointment. I waited a week, but got no response from him. read more

I my 16-year-old son to see Keith. I'm not going to go into detail about what exactly happened. I am going to say that after our session with Keith it added more harm than help to our situation read more

I had a really bad experience with this therapist. He diagnosed me with a personality disorder after one session, without knowing any of my back story. He also totally dismissed that I could be suffering from depression within the same 50 min session. I have however been suffering badly with depression for the past year after the breakup of an abusive relationship. None of which he knew or asked about. He claimed to be working more on some kind of intuitive spiritual instinct, apparently. It's lucky, despite my suffering that i am strong enough to not blindly listen to someone like this. But for a more vulnerable person, this could be a very dangerous therapist. read more

Keith is not the typical therapist, at least in my experience. I have met with a few therapists in my life for anxiety and depression with different styles and techniques. I think that what makes Keith stand out is he is both professional AND personally cares about his clients and his profession. He sincerely wants to help people, and really makes a FULL effort to do so. Because of this, he is not the type to just sit and listen to your problems passively and charge you $200 bucks and send you home, which is a problem I had in the past. Keith works with my insurance, and will work with you if you dont have it. This was a big plus for me because I go to him for anxiety and the thought of paying $400 to $800 bucks a month does not help my issue. Keith can be very direct. He's not afraid to be direct with his thoughts on how to help you. He's not afraid to be a REAL person with you. He does not pretend to be some perfect person who has all the answers and bestows them on you. Hes a person, that is trying his best to help people manage what is going on in their lives. That is very evident in his style. Hes not afraid to risk his image or his likability to do what he feels is best for you or the situation. Going through some of the more uncomfortable sessions with him have usually yielded in the most growth. I say uncomfortable because he really makes me face some things that I know I have to face, but always avoided due to anxiety or fear and swept under the rug so I wouldn't have to deal with them. At times when I had extreme anxiety attacks out side my session I called him late at night and he helped calm me down AND did not even charge me for a 11pm call. I still have anxiety and probably always will but I understand it a lot better thanks to Keith and he has helped me learn to navigate it and live with it in the best way possible. I will say Keith's proactive style is probably not for everyone. No one therapist is right for every person. Some people want to really ease into their issues and dissect them gently. Others, like myself, want to face them directly and face them head on. If you are looking for therapy, or mediation, its important to try some different people and find out who works for you. Therapy is so personal, and people are so different, you're not going to click with every person. Keith has helped me and I continue to go to him for two reasons, he is not afraid to help you break out of your comfort zone with your issues, and I can tell he cares very deeply and wants the best for me, as not just a therapist but as a person too. read more

I have been working with Keith for over a year and a half. I have suffered through many incidents of Depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and General Anxiety. Keith has helped me grow so much and guided me through the struggles. It will take tears, pain, and lots of reflection, but I guarantee it's a glorious healing. read more

Keith is a great doctor. I appreciate his insight and abilities. He is remarkable and trustworthy.

First and foremost I would like to address the fact that through a court order, I was obligated to begin bringing my children to Mr. Keith Lawrence for therapy. That being said: I have 3 children (2 with special needs) that began seeing Keith Lawrence in Feb.2018 if my memory serves me correctly. Since they began therapy I've noticed a big improvement in my kids behavior between a split family/co parenting household. I have felt very reassured on multiple occasion where Keith has pulled me aside to speak with me in a very blunt manner which is something that I admire in a person. His assertiveness and attention to the best interest of my kids has been a blessing for me. And while I may not be his client directly, indirectly he is prompting me to make certain changes to bring out the best results in my kids. My kids are my only concern and having somebody like Keith express the same concerns for his clients and the end result is for my children well being is something that I can get on board with. My youngest daughter was really hesitant in the beginning but quickly started to come around to the therapy sessions and I can see her breaking out of her shell ( A little too much and too fast...lol) but I cannot help but wonder how far behind the curb we would be as a family if not for the assistance of Keith. I would highly recommend Keith to anyone going through a similar situation as me, but I would also like to stress that you have a 100% best interest in your family. read more
