Nicole let me browse and checked in with me without being intrusive. Their selection is relatively small, but so many styles. I was skeptical about finding anything, and in the end I had 4 pair I was trying to decide between! They gave me their opinions on what they thought looked best. Once I decided, the measurement and purchase processes were quick and easy. Nicole even went over discounts I qualified for, and I was happy to see they accept CareCredit, since these lenses and frames were coming out-of-pocket. I almost fell out of my chair when they told me the price, I was honestly expecting them to be at least $100.00 more based on other places I had been. Great experience all around! She even showed me the screen and explained that she couldn't access the insurance portals. I also observed multiple usernames and passwords written on sticky notes attached to the monitor. Because of this, the office could not verify my insurance benefits through Davis Vision. Despite not knowing my copay or contact lens allowance, I was told I needed to pay something and ended up purchasing a box of contacts for $85 out of pocket. A few weeks later I received a voicemail saying my contacts were ready and that I also owed $125 for the contact lens exam, which had not been disclosed during the visit. When I called to ask about it, I was told my contact lens allowance had already been used simply because the office billed the exam. This was frustrating because I had already paid for contacts out of pocket specifically because the office could not verify my insurance. After raising concerns, the exam fee was eventually waived, but only after a lengthy discussion. Overall the experience involved significant disorganization, lack of insurance verification, and unclear communication about fees and insurance benefits.

One of those times I was in the store, I found a pair of glasses I really liked, and about a year later, I came in to see if they were still there. I had to spend my insurance credit quickly, and they found the glasses I wanted, and ordered them, and managed to get them in under the insurance deadline. I love these glasses, and they were really helpful in making sure I got what I wanted, and didn't try to convince me to get something else that would be easier.

I've been going to MacKay vision since 2004, and for the last seven years, I wasn't living in NH…read more Yesterday I went, and the team there remembered me, and I was genuinely surprised. It had been years since I was there, and even then, I had only been once every two years or so. It was really nice to be put at ease with a courteous, personal and kind staff. The paperwork was just one double sided piece of paper, the wait was short and the exam itself moved quickly. My eyes aren't very bad at all, and so maybe other's experience will be different, but in under 30 minutes I was in and out with new contacts and an updated prescription. Also, the team there is 100% honest. Each procedure was clearly explained to me, and the fees associated with things my insurance would not cover was discussed before getting any work done. So not like they don't tell you lies honest, but they genuinely took the time to explain each procedure and not up-charge me just because I'm ignorant to the medical world of eyes. I typically go the cheap Chinese direct glasses (because I break a pair every 3 months or so) - but when I had them in the past, I was able to get my glasses that same day. I'm sure depending on your prescription and frame choice - that's not always going to be the case, but they are on top of their stuff, and as quickly as it can be done - it is. Anyways - I would never think to go anywhere else to have my eyes checked out as I actually look forward to the friendly staff here.
