Our home was a complicated job since we have an older home with several renovations over the years. Many HVAC companies came through to bid the job and either looked so overwhelmed by the job or simply never got back to us with a quote. We were impressed with Tim from the minute he walked in the house. He was thorough and organized and definitely knew his stuff. He asked all the right questions and explained everything. Even when I called several times prior to the start date he immediately remembered the layout of the house and details without the opportunity or need to pull out the paperwork and review it before answering my questions. The installers they sent continued to impress us. Dave, Tyler and Michael worked very well together and were a pleasure to have in our home. They were polite, organized, pleasant and above all NEAT. I appreciated that the most! I definitely recommend them. Thank you.

I HIGHLY recommend this company!

Al is also extremely knowledgeable and patient as he took the time to answer all of our questions (3 women have a lot of questions about boilers!). We felt like Al was a good friend by the time he was finished installing the 2 boilers at my 84 yr old mother's house after her basement was flooded and her boilers were under water. Oh and Piper's pricing was extremely reasonable (best price we received) too! We would highly recommend this company to anyone who is looking for friendly, awesome, and honest HVAC company.

Here's how Al Toscano (President/Operations) responded, in order: First reply: "No it's free!! We pay for the gas, the tech salary... will pick up some donuts and coffee for you if you like! Maybe some ice cream for your children too!... Also know if you're gluten-free, so we can get everything right!" Next reply: "Do you work for free? This is a service business!... Who is the dumbass? Get your shit together, because obviously you don't understand how the world works, or how business works..." Final reply: "It's going to be even COLDER when your heat doesn't work and you're fishing for someone to come out for free! So my advice to you is, get over to Costco and buy yourself some warm blankets!" All of this over one polite pricing question -- not a request for free work. I never got a straight answer, just escalating sarcasm and insults. Can't speak to their HVAC work, but I'd think twice before dealing with a company whose owner responds to a basic question this way.

I contacted Urban Mechanical via Yelp to see if I could get a technician to do a maintenance check…read moreon my central air A/C. It has been five years since any technician looked at it. While it is currently running (knock on wood), a guest recently remarked that the filter on my external fan unit looked dirty and that you're supposed to get annual maintenance on these units. As part of the Yelp message process, I left my contact information and provided two photos. Eventually, Urban Mechanical sent a message via Yelp to contact them via phone. I called by phone and spoke to the owner, Hector. He looked at my Yelp information and confirmed my request. He then told me that he had a 4-week backlog of appointments and apologized that he didn't have time at the moment to service my request. He said that if I texted him my contact info directly, he could reach out to me if there were any cancellations in the next 4 weeks. Although Urban Mechanical didn't have any appointment openings to service my request, I appreciate their transparency instead of just ghosting me. If they can be transparent about their scheduling, I am confident that they will be transparent about their work. EDIT: I received a call from Miguel a few days later that a cancellation happened -- he actually followed up, which doesn't always happen with other vendors. He came over at the appointed time. He had shoe covers to prevent tracking stuff indoors from his work boots! He did the inspection of the interior and exterior unit and cleaning. Miguel explained to me what he was doing and why and had no problems whatsoever in answering my questions. (I was like a kid asking "obvious" questions, but I really didn't know much about the AC system -- that exterior unit "filter" I described earlier was actually a coil.). Miguel was very thorough with the cleaning. The exterior unit was really dirty and he had heavy duty cleaner fluid and attached the bottle to my lawn hose and washed down the unit. Then, he dried it up with his towel. Miguel did find some potential mildew/mold build up, but this required installing a UV light, which was not covered in this service/inspection call (which is fine). He would prepare a proposal with several options to address that. In conclusion, Urban Mechanical has excellent customer service and does thorough work, so they deserve this 5-star review.
