Our family is blessed to have our children cared for by Dr. Waipa and her staff…read more Dr. Waipa goes above and beyond to write summaries of everything we talked about (it is a lot) when it comes to toddler care. She made me less nervous about my toddler's behavior and explain that some of her behaviors are normal. With my infant, we had issues with eating and although I didn't push to see a specialist she made a referral right away. Her staff is also caring. Whether they are in the room taking vitals or if I am just passing through the hallway to get parking validation - they are always always so kind to my children. Dr. Waipa is caring, practical, and also truthful when it comes to any matters concerning my children. I appreciate how she communicates her honestly with integrity and care. We've been to two pediatricians prior to Dr. Waipa and we are not just "another family to be seen" but I feel we are truly cared for!

What really impressed us was how accommodating they were. We had a telehealth appointment scheduled, but after noticing a new concern beforehand, the office was able to switch us to an in-person visit the same day without any hassle. No runaround, no stress, just excellent care. They also took care of his ears while we were there, and the whole process was quick, gentle, and stress-free. This is the kind of pediatric team you feel lucky to have. We always leave feeling heard, cared for, and confident that our son is in great hands. Highly recommend. Mahalo

Dr Usami is so wonderful, especially for a first time mama. I met with her before baby was born…read morebecause she was close by, and she said when baby comes to just give her a call if I did decide to stick with her. Soo.. the big day came and she stopped by the hospital twice; once to meet baby and again just to check on her. Baby girl had just a touch of jaundice so she thought it best to make an appointment for the next day to make sure it didn't get worse. It didn't. Anyhoo, we've had a few visits already and the wait is never too long after our scheduled appointment. She also very sweet and usually acknowledges any weird baby things that actually aren't weird before I even ask. Call backs are also fast for any of my concerned mama questions. I highly recommend :)

She takes the time to answer any questions, and truly cares that you feel comfortable. As a first time Mom I have lots of questions. She takes her time to examine my baby and she even helped me latch my baby to make sure she was breastfeeding ok. We are usually seen right away. Her exam rooms are on the smaller side. So I wouldn't bring any large strollers. The only thing is that you always have to pay for parking. They only validate for 30 minutes. The visit is always longer than that, by time you park and get upstairs and then downstairs. Also they only accept cash. I never have cash on me. The girl in the front said they can't give more than one validation sticker. I get my hair done in the same building and never have to pay for parking. That's my only complaint.

I cannot say enough good things about our experience with Dr. Loui and her team! Most important…read morenote: we're not even Dr. Loui's regular patients! We go to Dr. Lori Yamanaka but found out she's on vacation and Dr. Loui is covering for her. First of all, I'm loving this MyChart messaging feature (which may, or may not, have been implemented without covid). I wrote to Dr. Lori about my kid's swimmer's ear problem on Thursday morning, was informed by phone later that morning about her vacation, and Dr. Loui or Dr. Joy is covering for her. I had no preference (altho tbh I can't remember if she offered haha) and fortunately for us Dr Loui is awesome!! We communicated with Dr. Loui via MyChart the entire time. Super convenient, highly recommend using it instead of calling! Anyway I told Dr. Loui the kid is going off island for a week and she very graciously offered to see us the next day! Her office is super cute! I love love love the decor! They totally put in so much effort to lessen the "doctor's office" vibes. I think they might have been going for chic beach-themed nursery look, complete with sea stars, sea shells, and mermaids! Everyone was super kind, patient, and friendly! Everyone! Jenny took the kid's vitals and took notes. Then Dr. Loui came in and introduced herself, but her demeanor is so open and approachable, I felt like she's been taking care of us for ages! We talked about sports and her kids' experience with sports and school. After examination of both ears, I was expecting her to prescribe medication, give us instructions, and we'd be on our way. BUT NO! Another nurse/assistant (I didn't get her name) took him for a hearing test since we reported some difficulty hearing. Then, she returned to clean the kid's ears with a water drill thing! She's super gentle and very sweet and helped degunk the compacted wax in his right ear (which isn't the problematic one). The left ear was a no go though, coz it was too sore. Throughout the process she was very kind to him, never once making him uncomfortable or pressuring him. Then Dr. Loui came back to wrap up the consultation and prescription/instructions. The whole appointment was at least an hour long but I didn't feel like they were rushing to get us out of the clinic. Side note: I'm pretty sure that years ago, Dr. Loui was one of the pediatricians that my ob-gyn referred us to. I'm not certain now why we ended up not picking her, maybe I was hormonal and irritable and didn't like waiting in the waiting room! Plus maybe back then her office wasn't as nice as it is haha I can't remember! But I'm very happy knowing that my doctor referred us to two very kind, compassionate, friendly, and awesome pediatricians!! For new moms-to-be looking up Yelp, don't hesitate! Dr. Loui is awesome and well worth the wait!! Also, I don't think it's fair to give her one star for not accepting new patients who aren't new mothers. Doctors deserve to establish boundaries for their own and their staff's mental health, and also for their current patients'! No sense having many patients if they can't make an appointment coz she's always fully booked, does it?? #32/2021

They said they're currently accepting new patients, but case by case and the doctor picks. All they asked was "is your daughter healthy?" The person on the phone had an attitude from the beginning to the end of the call where I left my information and asked when I would hear back. Unfortunately since then my daughter has broken out in hives so I called them again. When I gave my info again they then said "oh yeah that request has been denied." It was disappointing to have bad customer service from the beginning and to wait and have to follow up with them. A courtesy heads up that they wouldn't have been accepting us would've been greatly appreciated.

We never feel pressured to make certain healthcare decisions and always feel like he has the best interest of our children at heart. Our kids aren't afraid of the nurses and staff, and "shot" days are always a breeze. Everyone we've met has given exceptional care. The office is clean and sanitary. Hand sanitizer is sitting at the front desk, and there are sinks with soap in each room. Each exam room is decorated with a different Disney themed wallpaper. The Star Wars room is our kids' personal favorite, and they love to play "I spy" while we wait to see the doctor. The Disney stickers offered at the end of their appointments are a sweet cherry on top! Safety measures taken by the staff: masks, gloves, patients wait in the exam rooms (not in the waiting room), front door is left open. They even have masks and other kid friendly items for purchase up front. We have to make the drive from Mililani to Kahala for visits, but it is well worth the drive.
