Not only was the woman making our coffee friendly and kind, but she was also incredibly patient and accommodating. From the moment we walked in, it felt like more than just a place to grab coffee, it felt like a community. I came in with my husband, my mom, and our two little girls, and we were greeted with so much warmth and genuine joy that we were honestly overwhelmed. This kind of kindness isn't something we experience often where we're from, and it made a lasting impression on our family. Even the other customers were welcoming and full of joy. You can tell this coffee shop is built on love, not just for great coffee, but for the people who walk through its doors. The Pay It Forward board is such a beautiful and genuine reflection of that spirit. I cannot recommend this place enough. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by. We stopped here before the Andy Griffith Museum and prior to heading home. We wanted a good coffee since breakfast was a bust. Upon entering, we both liked it. The atmosphere, the vibe, and the baristas great smile were welcoming. Wife ordered a caramel latte and I ordered a red eye. The service was quick and the beverages were perfect. This place has all the standard coffee drinks plus several of their own curations. I'm a latte drinker and the one here was very well balanced, most places add too much milk. While scoping out a place to work for the day I walked by this coffee shop. The interior is pretty cool, cozy while still not being too much. The girls inside were really friendly and made me a great iced peppermint mocha. I asked about the WiFi and they said it seems fast enough for customers to have Zoom calls. I haven't tried the WiFi yet, but the coffee and service was solid, so I'll have to come camp out one day and see how everything goes. read more

This was my first time in Mt. Airy and I saw a sign for this place as I was walking to Snappy Lunch. Local coffee shops are my favorite, so of course I wanted to try it. And I'm glad I did! I had a delicious strawberry chocolate latte! And I was pleasantly surprised to hear Christian music playing and they had a verse of the week. A MUST see coffee shop in NC. Stopped in while visiting Mount Airy for a day trip. Was immediately struck by the massive list of lattés they offer and the kindness of the women working there. The owner/founder chatted with us for a while and told us about her story behind the place: a coffee shop dedicated to her son and the act of bring smiles to the world. The owner had such a kind and welcoming energy that is so rare - she took the time to make us feel welcome and placed a personalized touch to the customer experience. She just opened up a year ago mid-pandemic which gives you all the more reason to support this gem of a local coffee shop. As for coffee quality, I got a regular oat milk Latté which was great. They have endless cool flavors if you have a sweet tooth for the day. Interior is small but has free WiFi and a few tables, definitely makes for a cozy vibe for conversations or even doing some work. In short - DEFINITELY recommend for the sweetness of the ownership and great coffee quality and options. North Carolina's finest and a must-see if you're visiting Mount Airy. read more

I absolutely adore this little coffee shop! The one thing I will brag on is when you walk in there is a board where other customers will donate a cup of coffee so if you're having a bad day or low on cash you go to the board and grab a sticky note and get a cup of coffee. That was one of the first things I noticed about this little coffee shop! Every single iced coffee I've had has been spectacular and the cake pops are so moist and full of flavor! Went in to grab a coffee and use the restroom. I didn't have much luck with either. It wasn't until after I ordered my oat milk latte that I realize they didn't have public restrooms. I received my latte in pretty good time but I'm not sure if there's any espresso in it. It pretty much just taste like warm oat milk. The girl that waited on me was nice. I'm also happy that they had oat milk in the first place. It's a good thing that Mt Airy has public restrooms on Main Street. read more

I was a little confused to see a new coffee shop come in down the street from Pages to compete, and I wanted to check it out as someone around Main Street a lot, and the verdict is they have a long way to go. Seating is a little limited, 2 bistro style tables (one with 2 seats and one with 4 seats), the smaller tables and bar area are not in use or are being used to display store merch and shirts. If you were looking for a quite coffee shop to come in and actually read or enjoy a book, this like everywhere else in Mt. Airy isn't the place. I tried the Peppermint Mocha with Almond Milk because for it to be on the menu in the spring I assumed it must be very popular, but when I tried it I had to mix it quite a bit to temper the black coffee taste and I still never got much of a chocolate taste from the mocha. I saw mostly frappes and smoothies being sold while I was there, and it seemed like they were out of several things and unable to make a few of the smoothies. My brother got a dirty chai that was good, but not anything you couldn't get at any other cafe in town. My large mocha was $5.58 which is a little cheaper than what Starbucks and Brady's would charge, but the price is still about the same as what Pages would charge. The owner seems nice enough, and hopefully as North Carolina opens up more post-COVID she'll be able to do more with the shop. Not much on the menu stood out aside from Smores and Cotton Candy flavor options for Coffee. The only non-dairy milk option is Almond which is a little limiting. The pastry case has mostly scones, muffins, and odds and ends pastries which I opted not to try, but they seemed fine. Overall, the shop is on the smaller side and has limited seating, the drinks are average but aren't anything special, and the prices are competitive but I wouldn't say it's the best deal in town. I'm excited to see how the business will develop, but I definitely think it needs to do more to differentiate itself from other local competitors that have more seating, seasonal menus, and a better established clientele. I would recommend it just for someone who just wants a change of scenery in their cafe routine or really enjoy a small cafe scene, but otherwise it's just an average cafe. read more

Decent coffee shop for Mt Airy. Employees were hanging out w friends and eating when we came in. My dirty chai was almost too sweet to drink. You also have to walk through a maze of props and fabric strewn about in the photography studio next door to get to the bathroom. Would I go again, maybe? Cute coffee shop right off the main strip of Mount Airy. We were super excited about this addition due to the lack of coffee spots last visit. My boyfriend had a caramel macchiato that he said was delicious. My americano was prepared perfectly and the cup was thick enough to handle the temperature (this is almost always an issue for me at independent coffee shops because they're served super hot meaning the lid melts/ pops off/ etc) so kudos to them. The ladies in the shop were so kind and friendly. My boyfriend is an Army veteran and they repeatedly thanked him for his service + they offer a military discount. We will definitely be back when we're in town! read more

I cannot say enough good things about Keepsmiling A'Latte Kesson & Co.! First, Mount Airy is about the sweetest town in America! After running the Mayberry Half Marathon, I discovered I had lost my car key. (I live 2 hours away! ). It was cold, windy and I needed a place to warm up and wait for my angel of a boyfriend to arrive with my spare key. Angel (the owner) was welcoming, warm, friendly and eager to serve and assist me with a smile and lovely warm conversation! The shop is small, but very sweet and inviting. The small town banter among the locals was so wonderfully sweet and charming! I bought a hoodie, which I HIGHLY recommend, and a latte. Both were perfect and exactly what I needed. There was also a small selection of confectionery goods, most of which were already sold by the time I got there-I can only assume they are as amazing as everything else was! You need to visit Mayberry (Mount Airy) and you definitely need to visit Angel and her staff. The coffee is exceptional and the company is even better! Thank you, Angel!!
