This cookie shop in Keene is very cute, with adorable decor & inviting looking cookies in the case. We eagerly filled a small box with a selection of beautiful cookies ($20 with added tip) and tried them as soon as we walked out. It was immediately obvious that the chocolate chip & snickerdoodle cookies were not fresh. They tasted & felt at least 2 days old. Perhaps it was our mistake for not asking when these were baked before choosing them. The iced shortbread & linzer cookies were good. The raspberry jam between the linzer's shortbread cookies was generous, making it messy to eat - but yummy. The puffy iced lemon cookie itself had a nice soft texture, but the icing on it was aggressively Sprite tasting, & overpowered the cookie. Still we enjoyed the soft cookie part naked. I love a jammy thumbprint cookie, because the cookie is soft & the jam is baked into the center to reduce it to slightly chewy. The 2 we picked here had blobs of jam placed in the center after baking, & the cookie part was almost crunchy, so every bite left crumb & jam blobs dripping on your hands. We got none of the chewy jammy centers or soft cookie parts that make thumbprints so good. I'm giving 3 stars overall because service was very warm & friendly, and the shop is very inviting. Perhaps the best cookies to get here are the shortbreads as they are very cute & seem to hold up well. What a sweet bakery! One of the owners served us herself. We bought a variety of cookies: frosted, filled and plain but they were anything but plain! So delicious. Perfect short bread, Hollywood worthy Santa sugar cookies and fabulous ganache filled peanut butter cookie sandwiches. Don't skip this spot or the Linzer torte cookies. Really top notch pastry shop that is a welcome addition to Keene! Everything is the real deal; handmade that day, fresh and flavorful. The staff is friendly, and the best kept secret is their day old discount case, which was just as good, IMHO. What I really like is that, while there are chocolate items available, not everything is chocolate; they pay as much attention to other flavors, such as lemon, as they do to chocolate. They were absolutely amazing. It was my mother's birthday and our original baker cancelled last minute so I called Keene confections at about 8 am and asked if they could bake a cake for later this afternoon and they really delivered. It was very last minute so I didn't have high expectations, but they really went above and beyond. The cake was delicious and looked absolutely amazing. They charged a very reasonable price as well. I got two items from here, 1.) a french toast croissant cup and 2.) a croissant with almonds. the french toast croissant cup was undercooked, looked perfect on top but in center was soggy and i regret eating what i did of it, i'd rate that a star. but on the other hand the croissant with the almond paste was tasty and satisfying, i'd rate that 5 stars. read more

Stopped here on a Friday early afternoon. We tried a brownie and cookie; which we took with us to have later. They were both hard and dry, like they had been sitting in the case for a couple or more days. So disappointing because they weren't cheap. I'm surprised the reviews were good because my experience was nothing like that. The only positive is the staff were friendly. read more

The only issue here is that I can only give this place 5 stars. Keene Confections is worthy of 10! In a word...WOW! We have been eyeing this place for a couple of months now and today we decided to stop. We placed an order for cannolis for pickup the next day and thought that we should sample some of the goods today. We were delighted with the blueberry filled cupcakes with a delicious frosting that was just perfect! Not too sweet and very creamy. We also got a raspberry tart that was flaky and also not too sweet. Needless to say, we will be back to sample more of the goodies and will be sure to spread the word about this gem in downtown Keene. This is the place to go for those sweet tooth cravings! read more

I'm thinking when this was fresh it would have been pretty good. My guess it was put out yesterday. So here are my recommendations to the owners- 1. POST the prices. 2. If it is "day old", state that and mark it down. Here is my recommendation to future customers- Also check out Kristin's Bistro & Bakery on Washington Street, about 2 blocks away. Been coming here (more often than I should) since they opened! This is a great little family run shop with excellent goodies and a friendly atmosphere. Definitely get a cannoli if you're a first-timer. I personally am partial to their mini cheesecakes and fruit danishes. Very reasonably priced, you should stop in :D read more

Hands down the best empanadas I've ever had (we got a Cuban pork and a Philly chicken). Fillings were meaty yet moist and flavorful and the crust was light and perfectly seasoned. We also sampled peanut butter cookies (delicious!) and bought iced coffee (very good). The dog treats were hovered down in 2 shakes of a happy tail. This is an excellent bakery! When you walk in and look at the cases,you can tell that everything is well made, baked with care and the love of someone who knows what they are doing, and enjoys it! We had the apple tart with ice cream and it was flaky, delicious, and perfect.
