I caught this place on my way out of Greenfield and boy am I glad I stopped. These are easily the best donuts I've had in this state. I bought about 7 to try. I started with the cruller on the drive which was excellent, crispy on the edges, just the right amount of sweet. I brought the rest (strawberry sprinkle, apple cider, glazed) home for the family to try and each one was distinct and well made. You can tell these are freshly made each day. I picked up around noon (they close at 12:30) and then I feel like I got the first batch from the top of the morning. I'm very very particular about donuts and have been endlessly disappointed by what's available locally. But Adams Donut is THE donut shop!! It's such a cute little place with friendly staff. Donuts that are airy, soft, not too sweet, large, priced reasonably, and honestly just *perfect* are what you'll find here. The chocolate frosted actually tastes like chocolate, the cinnamon roll is enormous and honestly why keep reading when you could be eating the best donuts in New England (I said what I said)? Found this gem by accident when visiting family. It is a little hole in wall BUT! the baking is done by angels. OMG! We traveled 233 miles out of our way heading back home to stock up on their treats. No matter the type we bought the taste was AMAZING. The gal who was on the counter was very accommodating. They make breakfast sandwiches as well and ALL are made to order. If you live anywhere near there, you owe it to yourself to try various types and get to experience what AWESOME baking is like. Blacks Not Welcomed. Visited the store today around 11:15 am. I was the only black person among 3 customers. Another white person arrived. The baker ignored me and greeted the white person and began to fill his order. I should have spoken up but instead decided to leave and never go back. The baker just stood there and would not even look at me while I waited in line. Again, when the white person arrived, he smiled, said hello and took his order. Best Donut shop in Franklin County! Any time I'm in Greenfield I try to stop here, especially on the weekends or when they have cute and tasty specialties happening. Is it a little more expensive than a grocery store donut or a Dunkies donut? Yes, but you're paying for a hand made, fresh donut that's not unthawed once it reaches the store and you're supporting a local business. I've only ever had the donuts when they were sold at Avery's in Charlemont. First time going into the store in Greenfield, very cute space. I got one of those massive cinnamon bun rolls and then a strawberry frosted doughnut. Only like $5 for both so great price for what you get. Definitely will come again! read more

This place is incredible! I got a jelly doughnut and a sausage, egg and cheese bagel. Service was prompt, they were friendly, even the folks in line were pleasant to chat with. The jelly doughnut was delicious, it tasted fresh and like a home made doughnut, it was to die for! Then the sausage, egg and cheese bagel came out. It was too hot so I had to let it cool, once I dug in it really hit the spot, the flavor was great and the ingredients seemed of a good quality. I've purchased a variety of donuts from Adam's since they reopened. The donuts are just OK - oil usually not the freshest, selection is very conventional, but friendly enough service, and I like to suport local independent businesses. Perhaps the staff is too "friendly"; we have had a mask mandate for covid in Greenfield for the past six or seven weeks. However, the last three times I've walked by Adam's, there's a customer inside without a mask every time, and instead of refusing to serve them without a mask, they are allowed to purchase their donuts. This is wrong - Adam's needs to support the safety of the community at large, and enforce the mask mandate. I hope Adam's becomes more civic-minded, and adheres to the rules in place in Greenfield and surrounding towns. As it now stands, I won't be returning. read more

Last year, my husband and I got married not far from Greenfield. Our dream was to have pizza and donuts at our wedding, and Adam's Donuts was AMAZING in helping us make the donuts part happen!! They made us 30 dozen donuts, several different kinds, all incredible. Plus two large donut cakes. Seriously a dream come true! Our guests went nuts over them. Delicious. Their donuts are literally to die for. The maple cream donuts are unbelievably good. Their hours are odd (5a-12p) every day but Sunday (closed) but you can order ahead if you are afraid they will run out. I am sort of a donut expert... This place rocks my world. They make fantastic two-egg breakfast sandwiches, made to order quickly (on the grill, not microwaved), and they're open early! Coffee is hot and decent (iced coffee is also pretty good). Donuts -- meh? They're ok, a little heavy. The flavored sugar frosting (maple, chocolate, etc.) you can really taste the powdered sugar or something but not much flavor. Service is always prompt, efficient and welcoming - it's a small place with a counter area to pull up a seat, there always seem to be a group of 'regulars' there making for a friendly atmosphere. I opened up yelp and saw that someone had just reviewed Adam's Donut Shop and gave it 5 stars. I was on my way from Connecticut to New Hampshire and was traveling through Greenfield so I thought I would check it out. Unfortunately, I got there at 12:30 and they were closed. There were several people working there and I convinced them to let me in and get a couple of donuts. I got two sour cream donuts. They were very friendly and said if I were coming through and was going to be there after noon, I could just let them know and they would save some donuts for me. It was probably the best donut I've ever eaten and I live in Wallingford and have access to Neil's Donuts which are pretty good. The donut was still warm and I bit through the delicate crust to find a soft delicious donut center. Yum! I'll stop by on the way back to CT. My wife ate the other donut and agreed. It's funny that Dunkin Donuts is less than a quarter mile from Adams. This donut was so good, I had to make my first Yelp review. read more

This place is great. It's the only place around that's open so early (that's not a fast food restaurant). Great to stop in and pick up a quick breakfast before a few hours on the road for a day trip. They might only have American cheese for their breakfast sandwiches, but they make them hot on the grill while you watch. They have a great breakfast special, sandwich and coffee for $5 if I remember correctly. If you're sticking around, the seating is classic diner and very communal. This is a great old fashion donut shop with large assortment of donuts . They also have some other baked goods and pastry. The product is excellent quality and tasting. We stopped by Adam's Donut Shop for the first time this past Saturday and were pleasantly surprised. My two children got chocolate covered sprinkle donuts and my husband got a fig bar and a bagel. We also got juice and coffee. The price was very reasonable and the food was good. The donuts are made right there in the store and you can watch them make them, which my sons really enjoyed. The donut maker gave them each a warm glazed donut on the house which was very sweet of them. I had some of their donut and found it to be nice and light and sweet, just how I like them. I recently moved back to Greenfield after many years of living in many places and, surprise! Adam's Donut Shop was still there. I think they used to fry in lard many years ago and wish they'd go back to that. The flavor was really top-notch. It's certainly better than the vegetable oils that are used now everywhere. It's very homey and feels like neighbors visiting each other. I wish it was open a few more hours later in the day; I never think of going there in the morning. I wish them continued success especially given that the chain store now has two places in Greenfield.....really? What's up with that? read more
