Thank you so much to OCS for coming out. The whole process was simple, from scheduling, to getting…read morean estimate and ultimately having the work done. Most importantly they came when they said they would, which shouldn't be unusual but is. I really appreciate the honesty the tech provided me (Ken I think it was). He fixed two things with my chimney that a lesser repair person might have tried to upsell me for no reason.

This has to be the most unprofessional experience of any business I've ever encountered. Because we…read morewere not satisfied and were charged over $500 for work not done, my husband and I gave this business a bad google review. (After requesting a refund that was refused). Unfortunately, when you own a business you get good and sometimes bad reviews. The owner was so mad at the review, and that my husband voiced his frustration on his personal social media, she contacted his employer through facebook. She harassed his employer continuously to let her know her feelings about my husband's character and that she wouldn't support her business because of his involvement. She was literally trying to get him fired for bad reviews. I owned a business for 10 years. I got a couple bad reviews along the way about employees work and had requests for refunds. I did so willingly because the customer satisfaction outweighed my ego. I would NEVER call a clients employer after they left a bad review to voice my personal opinion of them. It's absolutely insane that the owner took this route instead of just refunding the money. The owner did offer to have someone else come to do the work but our trust in the company had been diminished. We wanted a second opinion and got one. That's also the prerogative of the customer.

First-time homeowners, will be using this company again…read more Our tech Aaron was clearly knowledgeable about his craft and took pride in his work. We were very thankful for his communication, honesty, and dedication throughout the project. We recently purchased an old house and found out the chimney was in desperate need of a liner after we had a carbon monoxide scare. Aaron and his partner re-routed the venting system and added the chimney liner. They cleaned up after themselves and Aaron took the time to show us how the new venting system was creating an upward draft, simply from the way he rerouted the pipes. This assured us that everything was taken care of and we won't be having any carbon monoxide back drafting issues again. I would 100% recommend Aaron and this company for your chimney service needs. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and appreciate how patient, hardworking, and helpful Aaron was throughout the process.

Let me start by saying this is how companies lose customers. I have used Certified Chimney…read moreInspections to sweep and certify my wood stove now for at least 5 years. In that time I have never had an issue with their services until yesterday, 9/22/26. The technician that arrived (Aaron) reviewed the wood stove on the inside and first stated that the pipe connected to the stove, which was an elbow pipe was not up to code and need to be replaced with a t connection as creosote can build up and cause a fire. Second the technician then went on the roof and told me that the chimney stack (pipe coming out of the roof) was not actually rated for a wood stove but instead a gas stove so it needed to be replaced. The total cost for everything was $3000 dollars to complete along with roof work which was not included in the replacement. At this point I asked how could the stove have been inspected by your company twice (two different technicians) before and not be told my system was installed incorrectly. I was told by the technician (Aaron) that the previous technician that inspected the system, (Josh) was a bad apple and no longer with the company which would explain the oversite. This clearly was not an acceptable answer and I stated that my system was then not certified correctly and could have potentially caused a fire for multiple years. Note this is before I knew multiple different technicians inspected the system which rules out the bad apple story (Second technician Angel). The technician did acknowledge that this was not a desired situation and stated he simply was providing his assessment and what needed to be done. I asked for a follow up from management and he left stating no work was done to inspect the system as it was not able to pass based on his assessment. About a half hour after the technician (Aaron)left, he called stating he was incorrect on his assessment of the chimney pipe and that he indeed was able to validate that it was indeed the correct rated pipe for a wood stove. Again I asked for a call from management today or tomorrow, 9/23/26. I did not receive the call on 9/23/26. I instead called around noon time on 9/23/26. I spoke with (Alex), manager at the company. He was somewhat aware of the situation but not fully so I provided the rest of the detail. Excuses were made by Alex stating his staff was fully trained however based on my experience with Aaron and previous technicians this was not the case. Currently the following is true. (Aaron) who arrived and inspected the wood stove on 9/22/26 was not aware of the proper pipe required for the stove. it was only after he left and further validated that the story changed and the correct pipe was actually being used. According to (Aaron) the t connection is required to pass inspection. When asking Alex if this was true he was unsure. Furthermore he made the excuse that the previous technicians probably did not want to bother me to replace the t connection even though (Aaron) is stating it is needed to pass inspection. I asked why would the current technician (Aaron) was not be bothered providing a $3000 quote where a $300 quite for previous technicians was bothersome. Let's not forget that when I pressed (Alex) on how (Aaron) stated that it was required for code neither (Alex) nor (Aaron) could provide the necessary change in code that required this change. When I asked Alex to make it right by inspecting and replacing the t connection for free due to the hassle received he stated that would absolutely not pay for the t connection. So currently I am sitting in a house with a wood stove that could have potentially been unsafe to operate because of an improper inspection by a company which this is their core competency. If I were you I would not use this or any other affiliated link for this company as they clearly are putting their customers at risk of a fire and attempting to scam them into buying equipment they do not need. Below are some links to avoid if you are worried you will use this service without awareness: https://www.certifiedchimneyinspections.com/services/chimney-sweep/johnston-ri/ https://www.yelp.com/biz/certified-chimney-inspections-north-smithfield-2 https://www.certifiedchimneyinspections.com/?sts=google&stm=cpc&stc=22526062021&stad=180019986398&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22526062021&gclid=Cj0KCQjw8c3VBhCsARIsAA_xJ93YSz4B2mp5wXPPW379zLCQD5J11QHU9EUod-pXH47aVTasG9QqvPIaAhyNEALw_wcB Note that the Better Business Bureau has also been contacted with the below statement: Certified chimney sweep company attempted to state a wood stove they inspected twice previously was not in fact installed correctly and needed a chimney pipe and t connection when previously not required at the cost of $3000.00. It was stated that the previous two separate technicians across five years from the same company were wrong which invalidates those inspections. Note this would also have required roofing services at a cos

This would take far too…read morelong, so I'll number it and try to be concise: 1) Sales Rep told us "no demo required" and drafted a plan for somewhere between 9-11 galvanized steel piers to be driven into "bedrock" (later explained to not be the case). 2) $10K deposit already processed when the crew showed up. a) "This diagram is inaccurate." "We need to go under the deck and rip up the first 8-10 planks". b) Wrong - we can't go under the deck. "We need to chisel out the floor at the rear of the garage to install 4 piers there". 3) AFTER I was told they had to go in through the garage floor, I told them not to come back, and I needed a day to review all changes, send me a new contract, and drawings. After digesting all the changes, I called and asked if I should grab some 12 mil plastic sheeting to cover up everything in the garage. Digging, cement dust, dirt = headaches. "The crew will take care of all of that for you". After you read this, LOOK at the garage pics, and EVERYTHING the crew DID NOT cover. Free of charge, I get to take everything from my garage and remove the layers of cement dust and dirt off all of it. All my tools, the kayaking equipment, all chairs, the 9 ft high shelving - EVERYTHING. They only had to say "yeah, probably a good idea", and they'd be off the hook. But not Ground Works. It's a DNA thing to just tell anyone what they want to hear. That would have taken me 45 minutes, but now I get to spend hours on another Keystone cops outcome. 4) This 3-4 day job, tomorrow am, 23 Jun, will be day 14. 5) They had an excavator, all the dirt, boulders, and other loose stones parked on the side of the lawn for 13 days before removal. 6) AFTER finally removing the excavator - 22 June - the crew told me I was supposed to remit payment. a) They haven't addressed the large crack in the corner of the garage, and b) I financed 60% of the job through their 3rd party finance company, GreenSky. There is no money owed them, once they finish - it's now on a payment plan through GreenSky. PS - Their office has NO IDEA how this works. Called 3 times to ensure billing would be applied to the account we were approved for. NO CLUE AT ALL. 7) They also had to dig to the foundation on the R side of the garage (known). They dug it up to spill over the retaining wall into the neighbor's driveway. The neighbors couldn't use half their driveway for the same two weeks due to dirt and stones falling into their driveway. Read GROK (preferred AI), & their BBB ratings (33 W Bacon St, Plainville, MA specifically). There is always an excuse, and it's death by a thousand cuts with these guys. I NEVER WANT ANY COMPANY TO LOSE WORK, because there are too many people who lose business because ppl want their butts kissed. Absolutely not the case here. LOOK at the pics, and imagine this is your yard, your house, and all the extra work you get to do after they've left. This is only written so no one else has to go through anything like this, and I'm kicking myself for not trusting my gut. When you see the images of their dump truck in my neighbor's driveway, that's when the home office told the kid to run to Home Depot and jack in some hydraulic cement into a large foundational crack. It was exposed when digging, but they never addressed it. Now it's "sealed" only from the ground up. Good riddance, and I'll dig it out myself to not have them come back. THAT'S how they completed the job. Remember, this company told us 3-4 days. The ONLY reason I agreed to ripping up the garage floor was that I would have it back in a few days. The left hand never knows what the right hand is doing. I hope they read this, and refute it - I'll be happy to elaborate further, this is enough for now. Again, use your preferred AI for reviews, prompt it for follow-ups, delays, service, complaints, and the longer list of complaints for return calls. Prompt for BBB issues with Ground Works at this location. No pun intended, but DIG DEEPER. You do not want this experience.
