In addition, my husband and I had a little bit of an emergency situation on our hands due to an impending heat wave, and needed to figure out a solve for our problem quickly. (This I know, was our bad in not preparing better. We take full responsibility!) I put out a request on Yelp on a Wednesday afternoon to all listed handyperson services and emailed another 6 or so companies listed on Google. Most of companies I pinged did not respond at all, and the smattering that did said they were booked through October. Thank my lucky stars, though, Joe called me back within the hour and said he'd come by between 4:30 and 5pm to take a look-WHICH HE DID! Off to a good start and it just kept getting better! I walked him through the challenge at hand: we needed to install an air conditioner in our garage, but we only had one janky window to work with that didn't fit the most narrow window unit, a standup unit didn't cool the space, and we didn't really want to lose use of the window entirely. Joe jumped right in and suggested a quick, flexible, and affordable solution: build an insulated window box so we can easily install and remove the AC seasonally and maintain the insulation that we need during the colder months. Genius! Not only was his idea a good one that checked all boxes, he presented his ideas clearly, answered all my questions thoroughly, and didn't pander to my very unimpressive knowledge of construction in general. Joe sent me an estimate via email the next morning, I approved it immediately, he showed up to do the work that very afternoon, and he was finished with the work by 5pm! MAGIC. He completed the work swiftly, rigorously, efficiently, and cleanly. The AC box is secure, accurately placed based on expectation, and perfectly fits a classic AC window unit. He came by, spent about 10 min walking around, rang the doorbell and gave me a sheet of paper with the quote. Easy and painless as that. I asked for roof quote and got exactly what I wanted. He did not need to come inside or make me listen to a 2 hr sales pitch. I've had at least 2 other companies who tried to do that when I was getting a roof for the quote. 1 of them gave me a quote on sidings instead. The other did not even give me a quote because I decided to kick them out after half an hr. After getting some other quotes I decided to go with Robert and he agreed to come out 2 weeks later. His crew came on time as promised but he wasn't physically there until the end of the day. Overall his crew was efficient. They finished within 1 day as promised. The shingles looked okay, not as flat or even like our neighbors but it appeared to be just fine. They finished the roof before a big snow storm and rain/wind storm within the same week. It was able to withstand everything just fine and no noticeable water leak or anything in the attic. I did discovered a small chipped wood area in the attic which I can see some of the underlayment and shingles but water was not getting through or anything. I will continue to monitor. They actually was supposed to install the chimney as well forgot so they returned a few days later to complete it as promised. Overall fantastic job from Robert and his crew. From the quoting process to the fast efficient work. Cosmetically the shingles could have looked a bit better and more even but functionally it seems to have served its purpose and was worth it for the price I paid.

The work done was highly unprofessional and unsatisfactory. They got paint on our floors, on our furniture and linens, did not remove switch plates before painting, painted a room the wrong color, got wall paint all over trim. Very sloppy drywall repair and completely unsatisfactory trim woodwork. The company has several crews of workers, so you don't know who you will get. After much (argumentative) back and forth with the company, they did send someone to fix mistakes. Thankfully they sent someone different (Danny) who was honest and skillful. He spent 3 full days fixing the mistakes of the original crew.

She scheduled us for a few days out and communication was great. On the day she texted to let me know she'd be 20 minutes late, and she was there on the dot when she said she'd be. She runs the business with her husband Randy and they brought two of their children to help. Listen: This is a REAL FAMILY BUSINESS! They were friendly and professional. They wore masks too. (Covid isn't over, friends.) They were all hands on deck for what was kind of a big job, and they did it. She even did an extra thing I'd forgotten to ask for and she made time for that as well. Case in point - I am in the process of moving into a new home, which was delayed six months (covid, worker/material shortages, yada yada), after having to get out of my mom's home at break neck speed because of a super fast sell. The sell was at the tail end of caretaking my very sick, and then dying mother. I also inherited my mom's very large, destructive cat. I am telling you all this because it will give you an idea why I made, what I thought might be, the stupid decision to drag a very old, disgusting, stained couch to the new place, rather than have the cat destroy a brand new couch. When it was rolled in, and I got to see it in bright light, I kinda freaked, but decided to try having it professionally cleaned before going to a plan B. Being new to the area, I looked at Yelp to see who might be available to do this for me and was prompted by Yelp to use the request quotes thing, so I did. I received a number of responses saying that all these companies were booked up, and a response from Beantowns Finest, with open dates, times, and very clear information about prices, which were VERY Reasonable. Owner/operators Jesica and Randy were very responsive to my questions, easy to communicate with, and easy to set an appointment time with as well. Randy showed up early for the appointment, was very professional and pleasant, and proceeded right away to turn my nightmare couch into an almost new looking couch - it was freaking amazing, and a waaaaaay better result than I could have dared to hope for. He also worked his magic on three filthy gabbeh rugs that I was fearing were doomed as well. I just can't believe what he was able to do with them. I was also grateful that all this was done without a huge truck thucka thucking in the driveway, miles of hoses, and doors open to the cold for hours. He has portable machines that work with a bathroom sink and the house's hot water. He left the entire area cleaner than before he arrived - which can sometimes be an issue with this sort of service. the final price was so reasonable, I bumped the check up a bit to make it what I thought was more fair.
