This time, the woman in the office, who I presume was one of the owners, flat-out refused to sell me anything less than a half-yard of loam, which was way more than I wanted or needed. She blamed it on their insurance company regulations. Well, whatever, that's fine, but then she suggested that I buy a bag of loam from a big box store or nursery. I replied that I had never seen any bagged loam ... bagged topsoil or garden soil, yes, but bagged loam - well, that's a big negative. She then insulted my intelligence by saying that some people call loam or topsoil the same thing. Okay, I'm in the plumbing and heating business, and some people call a boiler a furnace, and it's NOT the same thing....

In the summer, Hot work.. So, the job consisted of removal of old asphalt, grading, applying binder cost, compacting and then finish with class 1 topcoat and cleanup. The estimator was punctual to his appointment. The price submitted was correct and reasonable for the job. The appointment was made for the work 3 weeks out. The office confirmed the appointment a few days ahead of arrival. The crew with Mike (owner), at the helm arrived at exactly at the time and date established. The crew of 6 (7 with Mike), worked flawlessly together like a well tuned orchestra doing a symphony. In a few short hours the job was completed, the work completely cleaned up! No hesitation here: highly recommend! 5 stars ! Ken Postscript: LOOK.. Asphalt paving is a real tough occupation. Good help is difficult to find and keep. Customers, (especially ones that are not familiar with the "paving trade", are sometimes not treated honestly and overpay for substandard work. After numerous conversations, over about 8 weeks, I couldn't get a commitment from Kevin. Every time I was told they would try for something, they failed. Kevin will promise to be there, get you a date, try to get to you, etc, and then just nothing. If the owner conducts business like this, I can only imagine how his crew would behave. I ended up changing the details to eliminate the stamped concrete and I formed and poured the walls I needed, just so the job could get done. IF YOU WANT YOUR JOB DONE ON TIME CALL SOMEONE ELSE!
