Our heater wasn't working, so I called Keefe's to do a diagnostic a few weeks ago, and the technicial basically determined that everything needed to be replaced. He sent the money guy and he took a look and quoted $13k. I called for a second opinion and their quote was almost half the price. He came over to take a look and found that everything was in working condition and did not need to be replaced...something was stuck in the motor. That was it. He charged $85 and everything is working perfectly. How TWO different people didn't notice a bit of debris stuck in the motor and decided my whole system needed to be replaced and to quote an exorbitant rate is completely dumb-founding. read more

Downstairs A/C stopped working last week, they came out and proceeded to bill $428 for leak detection which the tech admitted he did not do. Now it's not working again. My technician Alex S. Did a terrible job. He did not find the leak in my air handler. Then he checked my condenser on the roof and said it was fine. I still had the leak so I scheduled another tech Aaron who was wonderful. He fixed the leak, found that my freon cap was missing and the spigot dented. He repaired them. Clearly that was the same as 2 days before with Alex. Alex also checked my fuse box. After he left, I found 2 switches turned off. NOT COOL! I am very surprised as Keefe's has always done a great job for me for years. I DO recommend Keefes but don't allow Alex to be your tech! read more

Technician was not knowledgeable about what was causing our air conditioner not to work. Keefe's wanted to send another technician out days later. It was HOT!!! We expected to have our air conditioner working when the first technician came. I had to call another company and they immediately fixed the problem. From my understanding this is ALWAYS how KEEFE's conduct business. I wonder if this kind of unethical practice is only done in " CERTAIN" communities. Oh! After meeting with, getting quotes and information on city codes for a whole home generator, I decided I could trust and believe a salesman from Keefes Air Conditioning and Heating. Fast forward to installation day.. the young crew of 4-5 young men began their work. My sofits were damaged as they needed to go thru the attic. Mind you, I asked the salesman if I should take them down prior to the install, I was told no, the installers will run the lines on the corner of my home, so they'll take care of the removal a small portion of the sofits. We'll, a small portion was not removed. Instead, I watched them pull away a large section, place the lines , beat the sofits back in place, leave them misaligned, and warped. I told them my issue with that and was told, "it's the best they can do, and the salesman should have told me they could be damaged it the process. Also, they lines are not on the corner of my properties wall. More so than this, I am really disturbed by the generator itself. They dug the trench but left the piping facing the exit door, instead of placing them facing the fence, as the salesman said they would be. Now, the first thing I see when looking at the system is the very unsightly exposed pipes. When I expressed my disapproval, I was told a tree stump was in the way of digging the trench in that direction. This, too, is in total contradiction to what the salesman told me. I specifically asked if the ground area was acceptable. He pointed out the exposed tree stump and told me the installers would cut it when they dig the trench. I trusted the salesman and the installers. Therefore, I trusted and counted on Keefes to do this very expensive home investment. Being disappointed and disapproving, I called Keefes the next day, expressed my issues, they sent someone out who realigned the sofits, which now look better than the state they were left in. However, nothing as of yet has been done about turning the generator around so that the ugly, exposed pipes are facing the fence. Keefes sales team and installers need to get on the same page. Perhaps a salesman and an installer should be sent to the consult to ensure that the salesman doesn't promise something the installers won't deliver. Wow, I wish I had read the other reviews before reaching out to this company because I reached out to them a couple of days ago to inquire about generator service, basic oil change, and annual servicing and received a confirmation that they would be coming out yesterday to service, and I replied to that confirmation that I would be waiting and guess what, they didn't show up. They claim that they made a call, but I don't know why I would need to call when both sides had already confirmed and as a CEO of a nationwide company I blocked my calendar off for the afternoon just waiting for these clowns and nothing. And my cell phone does actually have a voicemail service, but of course no voicemail left. Now I'm looking at one star reviews, several of them just over the past few days to weeks, and wishing I had looked at these reviews ahead of time. The technician never showed x 2 after taking days off then I called and wanted to come out alternate day when I wasn't off. When the tech showed it was apparent he didn't like pets though stated he liked them. He walked out and came back to state the area was dangerous for him because of my cats and dogs -golden retriever and couple scared Persians. They never complained before as I used them for 10 years. My 130 year old house has entered the 20th century when I had central air & heat installed a couple of months ago. It was a pretty straight forward job as my attic has plenty of space and y'know a shotgun equals a straight run. My sales person, Chase, was great and we discussed then entire job and the contract detailed every aspect. Which was great as a referral tool during the install. The price was good and I asked (and received a discount) because I had 2 systems installed (both sides of my shotgun). The actual installers tried to be as neat as possible which was difficult considering the volume of slate debris in my attic and that my ceilings are doubled...old plaster with lathe and then a layer of gypsum board (pre-dates modern drywall). The job went as Chase had told me it would. I've been really happy so far and my house has been nice and cool in August & September. We'll see how toasty warm I am in a month or so. read more

I had my HVAC system replaced with this company. I regret going with this company as they are not prompt in handling situations that occur for the customer. Im currently waiting for an appointment to have the duct replaced and it is 5pm. Mind you the duct has caused significant damage to my ceiling and it is of no concern to them. When calling your shuffled around and rarely are you able to speak to management. Ive had many instances where Ive had to call them out for the unit that is brand new, replaced 1 1/2 years ago. They serviced my unit and told me I needed to replace it and it would cost $8000 because I had a leaky coil and I was running on R22 Freon and they're not allowed to use that Freon anymore. So I called someone else to come out and they brought a new coil and it turns out I have 410 a Freon, not R22. there is big sticker on the back of the unit that says 410A. Long story short I change the coil for $900 and a non-shady vendor put in the Freon. Oh, and keefes also charge me to change a fan motor and did not clean the unit, they left dirt, grime and debris in it so the non-shady vendor fixed me up in that area as well. Where do I start!! When they hit the water line in the attic and caused a leak that required our ceiling to be patched? And I'm still waiting for them to fix the sheet rock they damaged? When they installed the coil wrong? And it just fell off and they said they have no idea why? I can talk about how the entire inside unit fell off the platform they put it on and said it was because they cut it too short? Causing a leak that ruined the floors we put in only 6 months prior? I have been a customer for well over a decade, I believe since 2008. I purchased an entire HVAC system in 2016. Twice a year maintenance is required for my warranty. Prior to buying a new system, I paid for the annual maintenance on my system (still pay for it). Service was great. Gave you a choice of morning or afternoon. For the past 2 years though they will schedule a date and then, at the end of the day, tell you that other calls kept them from getting to you and will have to re-schedule. I have complained about this to no avail. Although the technicians are great and so is the work,once my warranty runs out I am going to see if another company is more reliable for scheduled maintenance calls that occur 2x a year. read more

On APRIL 16, 2024 the salesperson for Keefe's, David Dobbins, came out to provide an estimate for a whole house generator. Mr. Dobbins was very courteous, knowledgeable and friendly. He told us that the company had six (6) installation crews so once the permit was approved by the City of Slidell the install could begin soon after. He also mentioned that the City Permit office sometimes is slow to process permits. I signed a contract with Keefe's for a 26 Kw whole house generator (Briggs & Stratton) that same day. Mr. Dobbins said he would submit the request for the permit that day. On MAY 20, 2024 we still had not heard anything from Keefe's about the permit so we placed a call to Keefe's office and was informed by the young lady who answered the phone that they had not as yet received the permit from the City. We once more waited patiently to hear back from Keefe's. During the second week of JUNE, around the 10th or 11th, we decided to make a direct call to the City of Slidell's Permit office and was told that the permit was approved and sent to Keefe's on MAY 5, 2024. We were irritated, dismayed and angry because we knew we were being lied to this whole time. An installation crew showed up the very next week around JUNE 17th and worked all day long digging the line for the gas piping, running the piping to the spot where the generator is placed and installing the generator itself. The crew supervisor told us through casual conversation that Keefe's only had ONE installation crew and was working on hiring more employees in order to acquire more installation crews. On JUNE 24, 2024, the generator and the installation work was inspected and approved by our natural gas company, ATMOS. On JUNE 25, 2024 a service tech from Keefe's came out to demonstrate the operation of the generator, provided instruction and programmed the unit to run once per week on a day and at a time we chose for its weekly maintenance run. The service tech was very friendly, knowledgeable and courteous. This unit although it is large in size runs at a very nice decimal - not real loud. IF Keefe's office personnel would have been truthful and honest about having to delay our install because they had only one crew I would have given a higher rate than 3 stars. No-one likes to be lied to and that's what happened in our particular case. What should have taken one month actually took over two months from beginning to end. Being honest with your customers is a very valuable tool. I can handle delays, but I am not very acceptable to being lied to. read more

Don't know use these people. FRAUD Technician came out because our air unit was not working. The technician said the unit needed a board and a new motor. After replacing both, the unit still did not work. When he look at the outside unit, the technician informed us that we needed a whole new unit. We told him to remove the new parts because the unit is still not working. Then he gave us a bill of over $1000 basically for nothing, that my son paid. Why???? The air unit is still broken. Have used Keefe's for 30 years and when it was time to replace my system, I turned once again to Keefe's to replace their previous installation. This installation started on the wrong foot and only got worse. Now that I am trying to get answers to concerns, they are not answering my messages. I had Keefe's come out to inspect my AC unit, because the unit wasn't cooling correctly. The repairman was Ray Sims. He spent couple of hours checking it out, then called me back and told me I needed a new thermostat that would cost $475 and $300 Labor. I asked him the model of the thermostat, and he couldn't tell me, he explained that his parts man knew. I called the office to see if I could find out, and they then had Ray call me and I got the same answer. I emailed the owner, and never get a response, and then received on from with with the model. I never did replace it. I had Gulf Coast Refrigeration come out, and figured out it was the capacitor going bad. They replaced it for $40. read more

Time for an update! Keefes finally piled on the straw that broke the camel's back. We're done. I've been on Keefes maintenance plan for the past five years. This month I had my summer service performed. When the tech arrived, the ac was working fine. By the time he left, the coils were frozen over, the blower was barely moving, and I was told to get the new system sales guy out because my system is shot. I put in some window units and scheduled the new system installer along with some competitors to give quotes for a new system. It was news to me that a new system is around $15,000, money I don't have. I decided I'd hit YouTube and see what I could figure out myself. Turns out the tech removed and incorrectly reinstalled the blower motor capacitor. I switched the wires to how they're shown in the wiring diagram and the system is back up and running again. That itself was troubling and more than a little frustrating. I called in to Keefes to report what had happened and requested a manager call me back. I started calling a few times a day, never a returned call. I did some research and found the GM's name on social media and guessed at his email address. That finally elicited a response, including having the tech who botched the job give me a call and try to tell me I'm mistaken. It has been an absolute shit show and their response to their mistake shows they are not a reputable company. When something goes wrong, you're on your own. I've switched to Bryans United and am happy with the service so far. read more

The level of overcharging and "phantom" issues that this company finds is absolutely STAGGERING. I am a general contractor, but I am not very well versed in HVAC so I called Keefe to take a look at the unit when it stopped working. They attempted to charge me $292 to switch out the breaker. Fortunately I know that it is an $8 part that takes less than 5 minutes (maybe 15 minutes if a novice who has never done it before) to replace so I did that myself. They wanted another $200 to clean the unit. Yes, just to clean it with a hose. But they use a "special" solvent. Their "special" solvent is basically soap. They did manage to fleece me for $750, but I have serious doubts as to whether any of it was necessary. Unfortunately they prey on ignorance, and unless you have a detailed knowledge HVAC, they will screw you as badly as they think they can get away with. I will say that the people you deal with will be very nice and helpful. In a way, it's a perfect system. You can't get angry with the technician or dispatcher, because they are just doing their job. You can call and complain, but the person you will complain to will be very polite and understanding and will have absolutely no power to change . All I can do is tell others of their business tactics and hope that eventually enough people will stop using them that they will lose those precious profit margins that they care so much about padding. UpDATE: we got some sort of justice. They sent their AC guru who adjusted something in an entirely different place than the first repairperson. It took him 10 mins. He also looked over everything... and flipped the switch. We got AC! As you have read above, the CC company froze the payment. Couple of weeks later a Supervisor rang us inquire about the scenario. I explained and he apologized... telling us they would not contest and will accept the removal of the charges. It still cost us the price of the window unit... but we will give it to a family in need. I hope they have learned a lesson. But just n case... if you use this company... record the entire repair visit on video. At least then, maybe you will have proof if there is a problem. read more

If you are in the market for a whole home generator or need someone to check out your AC, LOOK ELSEWHERE! Worse mistake I ever made was hiring Keefe's to install a Generac generator. Too many issues to list on the installation and they do not have any qualified, factory trained Generac technicians on their payroll. The first year required scheduled maintenance was scheduled a week ago for today. No one showed up. I cannot count the times Keefe's failed to show up for appointments. Seems that some other customer has issues that are more important than your time. My daughter had a yearly checkup performed by Keefe's on her AC system, which was working just fine. Over $400 later, and a cancelled and rescheduled appointment by Keefe's, it is still working fine. Since the first appointment was blown off by Keefe's, I rescheduled the appointment to have my Generac generator's one year maintenance performed, which had already been paid for in the initial installation cost. Since they wasted a whole day of my time previously, I was promised a morning arrival with a 45-minute notice. Neither happened! The tech showed up at 4:00 with no warning, which I do not blame on him because the office personnel is supposed to handle the scheduling and call ahead. After all of the headaches and wasted time, Toby, who was actually certified by Generac, did an excellent job and performed all of the tasks that is listed in the Generac maintenance booklet. He even erected a canopy over the generator to protect it from the light rain. Although my opinion of Keefe's has not changed, I will have to think long and hard before having the second-year maintenance performed. read more

A $16,000 mistake :-( Nothing but problems with their service since purchasing a new HVAC in December. "Somehow" my financing got cancelled and it delayed them starting on the install (I was never contacted about the problem). They cut a hole in the ceiling in the wrong location to install a vent, they made a mess and didn't clean up - until it was brought to their attention that the mess was unacceptable, they had to come out to 'fix' the install. This week - we have condensation on a vent, so I placed a call to make an appointment - not an 'emergency', so that I could be home for them to come. Called at 3:30 pm to say there was a delay and they could reschedule for tomorrow... Poor service, poor 'excuses'. At one time, I gave them 5 stars for their service, but I don't know what has happened in the last 18 months, gone way down hill. The only positive, the house is cool and my electric bill is significantly lower than last year. read more

I called Keefes because my AC was blowing warm air. I was told they would come out and do a diagnostics. The diagnostics consisted of checking both the exterior and the interior units. Gracion Wunstell was the technician that arrived. I told him that the AC was blowing warm air. He walked to the outside unit. Without checking the unit and within a minute of arrival he told me that the problem was that my unit would not turn on. Lie # 1 because I had just turned it off prior to his arrival. When I told him the ac was working prior to his arrival he moved on to lie #2 without skipping a beat or telling me why without checking the unit he said it would not work. He opened a compartment and told me that the capacitor was bad. But the capacitor was not bulging. Knowing that when most capacitors go bad they bulge, I told him the capacitor did not bulge. He conceded and moved on to lie number 3. He then said the wire to the capacitor was burnt and that was causing the problem; therefore the wire needed to be replaced. When I looked at the wire and the capacitor I told him neither one appeared scorched. He looked again and said you right. I told him that the wire may have just been loose. He tightens the wire and the ac worked. Gracion Wunstell smirks and tells me that I was lucky it was not the capacitor or the burnt wire because it would have cost a lot. Well, I think he tried to sell me that bs but failed because I had some knowledge and I watched everything he was doing. Anyway, he ended up charging me $119 to tighten a wire that took 30 seconds minus the bs that he tried to shove down my throat as he attempted to take advantage of what he believed was my ignorance with ac units. At the end of the day, I ended up getting charged $249 (tighten the wire + diagnostics charge) and he did not give me a report on the spot as they normally do or receipt, which made me suspicious as I whispered to myself...what is he trying to hide. As if Gracion Wunstell dishonesty was not enough when he tried to bs me, remember I was told the diagnostic included the outside and inside units, he charged me full price for the diagnostic and left without checking the inside unit. I began recalling the conversation we had. He received several phone calls. He complained about the time and number of calls he still had to service. He also complained that while he was working he was missing a crawfish boiled that was sponsored by a distributor. Maybe thats why he rushed out without rendering the services I paid for. I called the next day and spoke with the service manager Neil. Remember the report I did not get, well Neil told me that Gracion Wunstell documented in that report that he completed a diagnostic on BOTH the outside and INSIDE units. Neil said he would talk to Gracion Wunstell about the discrepancy and call me back. Neil called me back and said that Gracion Wunstell ADMITTED HE LIED ON THE REPORT WHEN HE DOCUMENTED THAT HE HAD CONDUCTED A DIAGNOSTIC ON THE INSIDE UNIT. Neil DID NOT seem BOTHERED or APOLOGIZED for THE DISHONESTY committed by Gracion Wunstell. But without asking and out of the blue he said he was going to refund me $40. What a joke! I could not believe that he was serious! No mention that we going to make things right and come finish what we charged you for but did not do or we take such acts of dishonesty seriously and will reprmand our employee and take steps to ensure such behavior would not happen again. Almost like he is $40 back, now go away. That was my interpretation. Anyway, as of the time of this review, a week or so later, they charged my credit card for services they did not render, but have not refunded the $40. I guess the lies and dishonesty starts at the top. I choose Keefes because of the good ratings. After my experience, I think they have such good ratings because people are not versed in ac diagnostics so when they get their ac's working again, people are happy. Not knowing that they have been taken advantage by a bunch of good manners, bs talking robbers without the bad guy customs and guns. read more

I wanted service sooner, but trusted they would rescue me as promised. They sent me a text confirming the appointment yesterday. Not impressed! The visit started out ok. Service person ran a diagnostic check and said everything seems to be fine. I explained the reason why I put in for the service call. The service person gave me a theory and since it's not my area of expertise I figured they would know best. So the blower was removed, cleaned, and reinstalled. I was put to work as well. I was instructed to vacuum around the unit. While the service person did a "quick" check of my outside unit. Everything was fine outback and I was good to go. Things were fine after the service was completed and my pockets lightened a couple hundred dollars. But a day or two later and the unit started acting up again. After waiting all day for a scheduled service call I was notified that the technician got tied up and they needed to cancel. I asked to reschedule and be the first appointment of the day. I would have to wait two weeks but I was fine with that. The day of the rescheduled appointment I called to say that I was home, but cutting the grass, if I didn't answer the phone it would be fine to just go ahead and send the technician. I was told "no"! Their policy is that if you don't answer the phone they will cancel the appointment. Which wouldn't have been an issue if they had scheduled me for the first appointment like asked, but they didn't do that either. I looked online and found the exact thermostat at Lowe's for $48.00. So now I am saying no to them. After several calls I have succeeded in cancelling my contract.
