I went with…read moreCalloway & Sons solely based on their positive Yelp reviews as my friends really didn't have anyone to recommend. I'm not going to lie: getting this system installed in a home we were living in at the time was not a pleasure and I won't ever go through it again. We had to get the duct work done which is a horrifying mess (there's no way around it) and to Calloway & Son's credit, they did suggest we go with a split system. Live and learn. We also thought we were getting a system with zones which didn't happen and it was never fully explained why, but in these old homes with impossibly high ceilings and two levels, your bills are going to be extremely high if you have one single unit. It is what it is. I certainly don't blame them for that! But on to the most important stuff: the system is pretty good. Again, old house, not the greatest insulation and taking all that into consideration we are comfortable 80% of the year. The other 20% of times are where things are a less than awesome: this year's blizzard and any extremely cold days mean for a very hot upstairs, requiring us to run the window AC unit. And on those blistering hot summer days, there's no way we're comfortable upstairs without the window unit. Again, my house... it's ancient. It wasn't made for these types of systems. Last summer, there was a day in August when the system stopped working on a Friday. I was more than a little disappointed when I was told they couldn't give us a service visit unit until Monday. If you live here, you know it is literally unbearable to not have AC on a summer day. Luckily the very kind lady on the phone worked with us and fit us in. I also now pay for insurance that ensures priority service. I was only able to afford to get the HVAC on the owner's side of my two family house done and that was about 25K. The financing was not great... if I hadn't paid it off ASAP, it would have been almost double that. So try to pay it all upfront if possible. At least the option is there if you need it.

What I especially liked was that they show you before and after photos and videos and it's amazing the difference. You can definitely tell it's your house and vents from the photos. Both are clean as a whistle now. For those of you, like me, that have dryer vents that go up through the center of your house to the roof, this procedure needs to be done regularly or it could cause a fire. Also, it could cause your dryer's heating element to keep breaking because the air cannot flow freely. If you haven't cleaned your dryer vent or air ducts recently (especially with this virus going around), you need to call this business or call A.J. directly at (504) 223-4087 and schedule an appointment. We got an estimate - hired Healthy Air Duct Cleaning & Mold Remediation. They came in took our blower out (which had mold in it)...cleaned all our ducts (which were disgusting) - put a cleaner to kill all the mold etc in the ducts and put a white substance (not sure what it is) that is mold resistant to keep it clean for years - I think approx. 7-10 years.
