I had my HVAC system installed just about two years ago, with an extended warranty. I went with…read moreCalloway & Sons solely based on their positive Yelp reviews as my friends really didn't have anyone to recommend. I'm not going to lie: getting this system installed in a home we were living in at the time was not a pleasure and I won't ever go through it again. We had to get the duct work done which is a horrifying mess (there's no way around it) and to Calloway & Son's credit, they did suggest we go with a split system. Live and learn. We also thought we were getting a system with zones which didn't happen and it was never fully explained why, but in these old homes with impossibly high ceilings and two levels, your bills are going to be extremely high if you have one single unit. It is what it is. I certainly don't blame them for that! But on to the most important stuff: the system is pretty good. Again, old house, not the greatest insulation and taking all that into consideration we are comfortable 80% of the year. The other 20% of times are where things are a less than awesome: this year's blizzard and any extremely cold days mean for a very hot upstairs, requiring us to run the window AC unit. And on those blistering hot summer days, there's no way we're comfortable upstairs without the window unit. Again, my house... it's ancient. It wasn't made for these types of systems. Last summer, there was a day in August when the system stopped working on a Friday. I was more than a little disappointed when I was told they couldn't give us a service visit unit until Monday. If you live here, you know it is literally unbearable to not have AC on a summer day. Luckily the very kind lady on the phone worked with us and fit us in. I also now pay for insurance that ensures priority service. I was only able to afford to get the HVAC on the owner's side of my two family house done and that was about 25K. The financing was not great... if I hadn't paid it off ASAP, it would have been almost double that. So try to pay it all upfront if possible. At least the option is there if you need it.

My vent wasn't blowing in only one room. Ricky came out and was very knowledgeable. He assessed the…read moreunit and diagnosed it very quickly. He discovered that one of the duct ties had come loose and he attached it. He explained how the tie and duct came loose and the entire process. I'm a bit more knowledgeable now! He went above and beyond!

I had this company put in a $15K central air unit 2 years ago. This year the compressor went out. I…read morecalled them during the hottest time of the year to come out to fix. They put it off for 3 weeks and many calls asking when they were coming, stating "they were Busy". I explained that no one could live there without a/c and they did NOTHING except excuses, The part was under warranty and I thought I had to go thru them because of that. After excuses and waiting 4 weeks, they Patrick, mgr) finally said they couldnt find a compressor, then did order it. They then told me a week later their part company that had it, had given it to someone else and they were waiting for them to get another to "make it right." After a week goes by I get a call from a girl in the office sating she finally called around and got another one from another part company and would have it installed the next day. Afte 6 weeks they want to charge me almost $2000 labor for their incompet ance. They could have called around " long before they did and also not waited over 3 weeks to inspect it in the first place.DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!! They will not make price adjustment for all the inconvenience and the fact there was no A/C for all that time! They certainly have forgotten all about customer service and have gone way downhill in servicing their customers!
